Yeah, but he's also only got 2 years left at a reasonable cap hit

You could probably get more for Hellebuyck right now considering the Goalie market.

Jets aren't taking scraps. A contender would be willing to offer significantly more, and the Jets can force PLD to miss the entire season if he doesn't play. It's not as dire as Habs fans are making it out to be. Jets have no obligation to trade the player to one team.

Why? You get a top 5 Goalie in the NHL for at the very least 2 full runs at a Cup... that's pretty valuable to me.

These values are so weird. Maybe it's because I'm not very high on Barron or Dvorak but that seems like a lot to give up..
Also, no thanks to Formenton when it's possible he was involved in the Hockey Canada scandal.

Mock Draft with explanations based off my rankings
I love mocks like this that aren't predictions. My personal opinion would be that the Jets should not take Nyman. That's way too early for him. I think you gotta take players with high upside in R1. I don't see it with him, and he might be avail day 2 if you really like him. You can also find big guys anywhere if you just want size.

Regardless of what the fans think of him and his attitude etc (and at this point I don't even think he gets traded), hes a point per game player on a super team friendly contract. If you don't think GMs would be tripping over themselves to trade for that, Idk what to tell you. People with way worse "character issues" get traded or signed all the time. Almost every team in the league can afford this contract, so I'm not sure how or why retention would be an issue here. However, whenever stars get traded, the value coming back will almost always be not enough, as history has shown...so you are right about that likely.

Mock Draft based on likelihood
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>christianyog</b></div><div>Good work on this! I wouldn't see Nazar or Lambert fall past the Jets, in fact I don't think the Jets will go for defenseman at all in the first round. I think the prospects you mentioned (Samberg, Heinola, Chisholm, Gawanke, and Kuzmin) are enough to push them over the edge and back into playoff contention. As a Jets fan, I want two things: a shoot-first forward and a tall power forward. Lambert and Nazar would be good options for them at 14th. Also I think Jani Nyman is also a solid option for them at 30th. But that's just my opinion.
Where exactly did you hear about the rumors about Ottawa wanting Savoie or Kemell. Also the talk about the Flyers going in an unexpected direction?
Once again, great work on this, like the effort you put into this!</div></div>
I think Nyman is too early at 30, but with their second pick it would be okay. I personally just don't see anything worth a 1st round pick to him at this time. Regarding Ottawa, I've seen numerous members of Ottawa media/blogs suggest it on twitter as well as Scott Wheeler discussed it in the Athletic. Ditto with the Flyers information.
One thing that was suggested to me regarding the Jets was that they may stay away from Russia/OHL this year as the OHL missed the full season last year. So, that is something to watch. Obviously my mock here has both lol

Mock Draft based on likelihood
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TZ11</b></div><div>I don't think the Ducks would take Korchinski at 10, he's a relatively big reach. It's very risky and, while he has more size than Zellweger and Drysdale, he would be yet another offensive minded Defensemen in the Top 4 and I doubt that's what the Ducks would do. But everything's possible of course.
I can't see the Sharks passing on Lekkerimäki, he fills a need and his chemistry with Eklund is undeniable.
How does Nazar fall that far? > Geekie, Öhgren, Lambert, Mateychuk (, Mintyukov, Korchinski).
I agree that Kulich's stats are overblown and he does get overrated by some. I think he should go in the 25-32 range. Not a bad pick but I don't think he's the best forward available.
Trikozov at 37 would be one of my prime candidatse for <em>the</em> steal of the draft.
Seminoff at 42 is way too high imo.</div></div>
The second round picks are not part of the mock draft. Those are guys that I have seen get first round consideration by experts and others like it. I made note of that in the notes, but I can see how it could be missed. Reminder that these picks are not what I would do, but what I think may happen based on rumours and what scouts/experts have been suggesting.
I will be making a "what I would do" if I was each team mock draft later, but for now this is my prediction based on all the available information that I have.

I got a feeling that Russians that play overseas are going to drop like crazy in this draft given everything that is going on. To what extent, I'm not sure yet. Could we see Yurov, Mirosh out of round 1? I think it's possible.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nickthehabsfan</b></div><div>The reason I say they need D is because, upfront in prospects they have Perfetti, Lucius, Chibrikov but on the blueline they have Heinola, Samberg and not much else. And in this mock they're taking Yurov at 14 so they should probably take a D at 30.</div></div>
I get what youre saying regarding the prospect pool to an extent. They actually have a few more D prospects in the AHL with some NHL upside most notably in Chisholm, but also with Gawanke and to a much lesser extent Kovacevic. They don't really have much that shoots right, but to say they all caps NEED d prospects is not really correct. They are probably at worst average when it comes to their defensive depth for prospects. Now NHL roster wise, yeah they don't have much top end lmao. Also, unless the defenceman at 14 is the clear number 1 left on their board (possible), I could see them looking for a RH Defenceman at 30. The Jets have also shown the willingness to pick the player that has fallen (Connor, Perfetti, Lucius), so it will be interesting to see how it plays out at 14. I would love the Odelius pick though. I also just wonder if the Jets covet size with whomever they pick on defence, which is not what I would do necessarily. Two firsts should allow you to take some swings on talent.

I get what people are saying about the Jets needing D, but that's really overblown. They have tons of D prospects which have some upside, although they could use a RS d prospect. In terms of dynamic forward prospects who can score goals, they could use some more of that.
