Yep there will be silly people who say otherwise but for the most part we hear it all the time
"I dreamed of being a Leaf and here I am"
If Leafs were running like they did with no cap would see a lot more big names here
Well so to would NYR and MTL and that would be bad for bettman

They took the defending champs to the limit and got screwed by some bad calls. It was a coin toss they lost to a team that knows how to win. Most logical people see they are on the verge. Only troll nation keeps going because it makes them feel better

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logan_Ollivier</b></div><div>So what your saying is Kerfoot sucks and despite outscoring all but 4 of your players, without any PP time. So as I was saying, people on here hate anything to do with the Leafs without any real cause or logic. I am not defending this trade but it's funny how every team has 305, million, billion better forwards than Kerfoot and only 3 teams in the entire league had a better record than TO. It's weird how guys can be successful, useful and valuable to a top team but are somehow "borderline 3rd liners" on much worse teams.</div></div>
There might be some tone to it, but you gotta read the substance of what every CBJ fans says to ACGMs trading Kerfoot to us:
- Kerfoot is...<a href="https://twitter.com/JFreshHockey/status/1417870089148379137/photo/1" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">fine.</a>
- Kerfoot would not be playing in a high-level offensive system with CBJ. So the <a href="https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2022/04/19132902/Screen-Shot-2022-04-19-at-1.21.05-PM.png" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">relatively good year</a> he had last year, a career year for him (note his GSVA the three prior years), would likely not be the norm for him were he to play with CBJ, SEA, AZ, etc.
- We have a number of young Fs who need NHL playing time, and he would just be an impediment to that. As would any player like him. If CBJ are obtaining Fs in trade right now, they are going to be young, with years of control, and already/ developing into top-line players.
- He is a fine value at $3.5M. He is not a fine value as soon-to-be 28 year old UFA likely expecting a pay-raise.
- Finally, there are tons, and tons, and tons of TOR ACGMs that trade him to CBJ. Authors are repeatedly told "No, we do not want him, please stop trading him to us" only to get tons and tons more, without any change in circumstance or logic. You need two yes' for a trade to be done.
That final point likely illustrates why you see a lot of irritation with TOR ACGMs, at least from CBJ fans.
That being said, the thing is, though, most of the hate for TOR I see comes from TOR fans.
Ya'll have a great team, and as a fan of another team ridiculed for its seeming inability to get out of the 1st round of the playoffs, I get it; but, every time you lose we get a flood of ACGMs trying to dump every player not named Matthews.
Plus, <a href="https://twitter.com/JFreshHockey/status/1543994890719301632" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">I mean...</a>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>I do expect his production to drop a bit but stay at 40 if he were to be traded to a team who has no one, but to be fair he did play on line 3 as well last year.
I would have to disagree with the notion that a "rebuilder" shouldn't get him because if they are trading for him they are probably planning to retain him. So of course, it depends on if there is a fit and if the cost is appropriate. Something like a 2nd for a team like Seattle is not crazy when they had a ton this year, and have 3 next year. It doesn't really make any sense
Seattle isn't really a rebuilder anyways and they are trying to improve and compete, same with other former rebuilders like Detroit and Ottawa and teams like CBJ who aren't really rebuilders at all (they traded Jones so that they don't lose him for nothing) but playoff hopefuls. Not saying any of these teams should be or are interested in Kerfoot, but I see a lot from Detroit and Seattle fans suggesting that they think their GMs will be building through the draft for the next 3 years at the least.</div></div>
I agree with what you're saying in that if a team wants him long-term, trading for him and then extending him is not a bad idea; I personally would hesitate at extending a 29 year old with one 50+ point season though. I still think that Toronto gets a better return from a contending team that needs to upgrade their middle-6 than from a non-playoff team looking for a long term piece.
Another thing I think that people don't realize now is that, as of a week ago, Kerfoot has a 10-team NTC. Not sure who he'd have on it but I wouldn't be shocked if the Seattles, Arizonas, and Columbuses (Columbii?) of the world were there.

Yeah, bounce backs are only worth it if you can get em cheap, and gibson is expensive as hell in every way

As much as I actually like this team, like jded said, ducks easily decline that trade. Wouldn't give away Sandin tho. Just keep Campbell at that point. Costs less and younger. Also wouldn't sign PK. ARI prob declines too. Would prob have to give up a 2nd + 3rd. Keep the extra money from keeping Campbell instead of Gibson and PK or possibly use that for another depth piece, whether a 3rd or 4th line depth piece or a 3rd pairing dman.

He’s totally a useful defenseman on a contract that isn’t unreasonable. He’s also 33 and on a 2 year contract. ANA won’t be competing in either of those two years, so a player that will 100% be gone by the time they’re competing is not an asset to ANA at all. Rebuilding teams don’t trade future assets for short term veterans.

How is trading for arguably the worst starter in the league over the past 3 years a genius move?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HeroStuff</b></div><div>I like the explanations and your right about the depth scoring, I think the contracts are inaccurate tho, I would expect Strome to be more likely to get a 1 year deal for cheaper, and pulujarvi likely on a shorter term deal as well. Both would be useful adds.
Disagree that Miller would be the type of guy the leafs would look to if they trade Muzzin they'd probably want someone who could replace a bit of his shutdown or physical capabilities.
The goaltending is really the one that I disagree with. Platoon is too risky, especially after seeing what happened last season. They need to get a starter who can play 50 games. If you bridge Sandin for two years, and give shorter term contracts for pulujarvi and Strome, you could afford a actual #1</div></div>
My only thing is Lankinen and Comrie have shown glimpses of being a #1 goalie. They're relatively young (Lank 27, Comrie 26) and at least to start the season, they could be good options. If there is an obvious need after a few months, then a trade can be made.
Also, I think that signing Strome and Puljujärvi to multiple years can prove beneficial for both of them, as I can't see them making much more in the future. This also gives the Leafs security going forward, not having to worry about resigning them along with the core 4.

Leafs 2223 Opening Night
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RazWild</b></div><div>It's not like we'd trade him for that anyway. It would take a gross overpay for us to consider it. And this ain’t it.</div></div>
Yeah, that's the same with his brother, then it was a calculated risk that didn't work. Here, it's just trading a higher producer for someone who is better defensively so it's a trade off. There's other options in fa that are likely better than the both. So, giving up the assets for the Leafs wouldn't make sense, and taking a higher hit (even for one year) doesn't make sense for the wild since they would have to replace what Foligno brings with a second player perhaps but also replace Kerfoot for the next two dead cap years, instead of replacing Foligno (potentially) in the last.

(TOR/CHI) - Mrázek + 2022 1st round pick for 2022 2nd round pick
This is probably going to be a good trade for both teams. I still think Mrazek is a good goalie. Chicago didn’t have a goalie, they can afford him, and he’s only signed for two more years so his contract won’t get in the way of their rebuild. The guy they picked still might have been available at #38, but he was ranked in the first round on some lists, so why take that chance when you need a goalie anyway?
Maybe Mrazek could have bounced back for Toronto, but keeping him and hoping that happens would have been a bigger risk than trading down 13 picks to dump his cap hit. I noticed they waited until it was their turn to pick before they made the trade, so I suspect they weren’t too high on any of the players that were still available at the time (though it was probably more a case of Chicago wanting to be sure Rinzel was still available), and maybe they like a guy they think will still be there at #38.

Lmao everyone on this site has been screaming for months that it will cost an arm and a leg to move Petr and stupid leafs fans were delusional for saying it would cost anything less and all it ended up costing was 13 spots that amount to virtually no actual draft pick value.
****ing LOL
The fact that after all that, this isn't all the way leafs win says everything you need to know about CF users.
Leafs win easily and it isn't close
