Meier Offersheet
Not sure BM is the type to throw 8M at an RFA. In fact, one of BM's strengths is keeping RFAs on low contracts. Although the deal looks good on the surface, signing Meier to a big contact like that sets a bad precedent that could come back to bite us later down the line.

I agree with everything you said but signing Meier would be a nice addition to the team. We just need to lower the salary and I would be okay.

but that trade with the Ducks just isn’t happening
U want them to take Okposo at a higher Cap hit, with more years left then Cogliano?
There’s just no way that happens without giving them some kind of sweetener
Don’t really like the NyR trade either
Smith is “meh” at best
Definitely don’t want him for 2 more years after this
And Namestnikov has ONLY been good when he played WING with Stamkos
I wouldn’t mind trying him at LW with Jack (if he’s cheap), but he’s not our answer at 2C

Ya ducks aren’t making that trade. I mean, hall for larsson happened so anything is possible but that trade is not even close to fair value

Is tolvenan worth an extra Norris trophy. I think Karlsson has more than PK.
Also EK
518 points in 627 games
Pk
377 points in 582
Now one was on a team with Carey Price while the other scored more but common Karlsson is younger and better.
I think this is fair.
Erik would love it too because he doenst have to do it all alone.

Filling Holes (no pun intended)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyNM1510</b></div><div>If Kesler isn’t playing then see if Steel can win it out. Otherwise give Kosilla a chance until you make a move. Maybe a rental like Filpulla. Someone who could be acquired for a minimal cost and won’t block Steel after next season.</div></div>
I guess we just look at it a bit differently. I see the Ducks as having two holes without Kesler (top 9 C and top 6 LW), whereas it seems you only see one hole there. I’m hoping Steel can fill one of those, but it’ll take someone else to fill the other (I don’t see Kossila or Ritchie as top 6 worthy). When Kesler ultimately comes back, then if Steel was ready he can play the LW position and then the Ducks can deal someone out for a return, keep the extra depth, or let Spooner stay at LW if Steel wasn’t ready after all. I’m almost always more of a fan of getting a lasting contract than paying a little less for a contract that’ll be worth nothing at the end of the season. Just flip someone instead and keep the value. Ritchie or Cogs could likely be expendable by year end anyways

Love how hot you are on the Ducks, but they have a few bloated contracts that are hurting them, and guys with dubious futures health wise. Perry looks like trash now. If he starts the season hot I’d ask him to waive that NMC and move him for anything at all. The Ducks are really going to need to rely on young guys coming up big this year if they want to have a chance</div></div>
Did you see O.Kase's contract signing today? 3 years at 2.6M$ AAV. I was at 3 years at 2.65M$ AAV in this thread posted 5 weeks ago. Can you say "spot on"?! ?

Agreed, but that team is ugly. Top 5 pick 2019 draft incoming. Would like to see BM go out and make some big plays. Bozak would be a good signing, especially if Kesler is out for the season. Would like to see Silf moved too for a true top 6 LW. Sick of his inconsistency on the front end.

Having some fun, BUF/CBJ/ANA/MTL trades
Value-wise, I think the Staal trade is pretty fair, but...I can't see the Ducks wanting to acquire and old player. By all accounts, they are looking to get younger.
I (personally) have no interest in ROR. He's a very good player, but over paid. While he is better than Koivu, I don't want another #2 center paid like a #1 on a loooong-term contract. ROR is a #2 center on a legit Cup contending team...IMO.
I am getting more and more intrigued with a trade with Columbus. Panarin would (obviously) be a great addition for the Wild, but I also think Savard is the type of defenseman that would be a perfect fit with Brodin. That pairing would be able to shut down anyone! Josh Anderson brings a hole lot of what the Wild desperately need, and Milano's speed would be a welcome addition. I would start with Zucker on the trade, but would be willing to move Granlund if necessary. I hate to give up the #24, but...
Panarin and Kaprizov on a line together in a couple years might just be amazing... Now, we just have to find a center to put between them...

Thanks for the feedback! I've made similar trades on other threads a couple times and have never heard if this would be fair or not. The only thing that leaves me wondering if the Ducks might make a move like this is out of desperation. Getzlaf and Perry are on the edge of their careers and I could see them wanting to go for one more cup run while they can. They were swept in the playoffs and with the uncertainty of Kesler, a guy like Staal could be great for them.

Canes looking to move Skinner
Canes organization has already stated the price for Skinner is a 1st round pick and a prospect. As <a href="/users/HockeyNM1510" target="_blank">@HockeyNM1510</a> stated there’s no reason for Carolina to bring in another near expiring player, not to mention they’re similar in talent and I think Hurricanes want to completely open that wing spot.

I'm with you. I would let the kids play and make a trade in the middle of the season if need be. Just pair the kids with a couple of the vets in the lineup and see what the team can do.

I feel the trade centers around Silfvy and then throw in another young player that isn't a top prospect with a pick, should be enough for Skinner.
That trade and the signing of Stastny gives us strength down the middle and 3 lines who can put the puck in the net.

They have Hainsey and Zietsev ahead of him, and I'd even consider half the left handed guys better than Stone. He's not terrible just not very good and costs way too much for a depth defenceman.
