I don't know anything about Viro. Is it right to assume that he is basically a B or C prospect?

Zadina has little to no value, but I think he makes sense as part of the trade. He needs a change of scenery. The Senators are going to flip a player 1 year after acquiring him for less than they paid. If they get Zadina, politically they can obfuscate the return a little bit. The casual fan who keeps up with the team through Garrioch's Sun pieces doesn't have to know that Zadina has no value. They just see the big name player who was drafted high and needs a change of scenery.

With that said, I doubt Ottawa will want the risk of taking Zadina since he has two years left at nearly 2M and has struggled with no signs of improving.

The pick won't be a 2024 1st. The only scenario where that happens is if there are no offers on the table with a 2023 1st. The Senators don't have any picks in the first three rounds. I think Dorion's plan was always to use Debrincat as a rental. The Chychrun trade was easier to make, because he knew that he would flip Debrincat at the draft to get back into the 1st round.

NYI 2023 18th Overall Pick + Zadina or 3rd round pick.

That's probably the return. Sens would be lucky to get 18th overall. Fiala coming off of a very strong season got a similar pick in a worst draft, although they also got a good NHL ready prospect.

It really depends on how the trade market shakes out though. I don't think anybody expected the TDL market to be as hot as it was. So maybe if the cap comes in higher than expected, the Sens get lucky with the market for Debrincat.
