Even with an extension, Nylander isn't worth that. He's going to be 28 this year and is an 80-90 point player. A top prospect, a decent goalie, a big d-man with good hands AND a first round pick. When everyone knows Toronto needs to dump cap? That's not going to happen. Because of the cap situation you probably need to lower the other draft picks by 1 or 2 rounds as well.

Finally, I just can't wrap my head around why the Leafs would get rid of their best stay at home D-man.

Jarnkrok is cheaper and has three years left.

Holy poop he has Josh Bailey playing 3rd line. I missed that completely after looking at the Calgary trade.

Brodie is a cap casualty. That 5 million can be spread around to add other players to the team. Every dollar counts with this team.

Pens will most likely pass. Have a plethora of bottom 6 forwards and are already over the cap

He had good chemistry with JT on the Islanders. If he doesn’t work out then a prospect like Coronato can be there.

Penguins cant say no fast enough. We already have enough problems as is and Lafferty is not a Sullivan guy.

NSH declines. Not interested in Jarny, nor does NSH have the room for him. Especially to give up a 2nd for him.

No Nylander is worth around that but Calgary doesn't have the cap space, nor are they in a position to be making a move like that.

Can't think of a good trade.....add extension as part of the deal. As you know these type of deals NEVER happen.

Fair enough. I've just personally never been overly impressed by Nylander. Not saying he isn't a great player, just not one I would spend that much on. Just my opinion, though. I know he's put up big numbers and hasn't gotten top line minutes all the time.

Why would the Sabres- of all teams- wanna help the Leafs with their cap situation???

I don’t see it
