(MTL/CHI) - Shaw and 2021 7th round pick for 2020 2nd, 7th round pick, and 2021 3rd round pick
...I think the Blackhawks made out better overall?
1) the Blackhawks wound up with 2 2nds and a 7th; the Canadiens got a 2nd, a 3rd, and a 7th
2) the Blackhawks got Alex DeBrincat with the Canadiens' 2016 2nd round pick

So all the stupid posts ....that thought it would only cost a 3rd round pick to dump this contract are finally over. Thank god.

Can't believe New Jersey paid that much to acquire a Cancer to the locker room. We all know who won the trade, It's not NJD or NSH
IT'S THE MONTREAL CANADIENS. THANKS FOR WEBER :)

(CHI/NJD) - Hayden for Quenneville
As a Hawks fan...I see all these Avatars that are from the NYI or EDM or TOR. I'm happy to hear the thoughts, but Hayden was good as gone. He's underperformed more than anyone else in the Hawks system. I hope he takes this as a learning experience because he was TERRIBLE for the Hawks. It's a fair trade because both players want a redo. I'm not sure how it can go 1 way or the other. Good luck to them both!

You'd rather have a goalie with all of 5 games of NHL experience over a former Vezina winner on a 1-year deal at a low rate?

The Sharks now have 26.5 million tied up in 3 defensemen who average age 32 and are signed for at least 6 more seasons.

I beg to differ if Fox plays 30 games this season. 2 2nds for a player for Carolina that he wasn’t going to sign for. Don Waddell probably made the most out of him.

Podkolzin or Cozens
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>newman23</b></div><div>I agree with this. Outside of Kane and Toews we lack elite skaters on the offensive side. Would love a guy who can really wheel AND control the puck. Closest thing we have to that now is Saad. Not a knock on him hes great but doesnt quite have that explosive north/south speed he did at 23 or 24. Cozens would really help push the hawks offensive pace</div></div>
Debrincat isn't overly fast, but he's a really smart skater too. I'm hopeful it's Cozens...unless Pod's has a 100% sure chance of getting to North America next year. Not even a 99% chance...100%

I've read a lot about Hawks taking Dach because of his power-forward mentality and good ****, but I think Hawks should take Cozens. He is a better skater than Dach, has better hands, in my opinion. Cozens might not have an elite shot yet, but I think his vision is there, edge work is great as well. Either guys will be a project to some degree and I think both will be NHLers, but I think the first WHLer to be drafted and 3rd overall pick should be and hopefully will be Dylan Cozens.

Gonna go on a limb and say Wild win the trade. Victor Rask is having the worst year of his hockey career, but he is still a 40 point center who is great defensively.

Petrovic loves to take stupid penalties + offers almost no offensive production.
Did Chiarelli just pay a 3rd round pick for a worst contract and a worse player?

Vegas Golden Knights signed Alex Tuch (7 Years / $4,750,000 AAV)
Just a year or two ago it would have been unthinkable for a player with the track record of Tuch - who has been promising but certainly hasn’t established himself as a star, tho could be there one day - to get a Long-Term deal off of his ELC like this.
It’s almost senseless saying if this is a “good” or “bad” signing as it doesn’t even start til next season, and it’s based on him becoming a player that is NOT yet. In that sense it’s frought with risk for the GK’s. Conversely, if he comes close to being a star and can produce at a 2nd line rate (or even better) for the full duration of this contract then this is a fantastic deal. GMGM must be feeling lucky - or had a good night on the Strip.
This will set a precedent and we could be seeing the start of a trend wherein 21/22 year old middle-6 players sign LTCs (instead of Bridge deals) of their ELCs moving forward. Previously that was reserved for the best of the best. And then the best, and the close to best. Now it could be a free for all. And eventually teams are gonna guess wrong and regret these decisions. This one, it’ll probably be good, but no guarantee. Tuch just doesn’t have the track record yet.
