They take full salary? That’s surprising.

Good for Columbus</div></div>
He already got his game back. That’s why this trade was possible. His hip is alright now and he’s been solid behind a really bad defense.

Honestly i thought they’d have to give up someone from their active roster.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Not sure what Carolinas thoughts are here, Puljujaevi doesn't have any chance at reclaiming his potential languishing in a bottom 6 role and unless he comes out in a big way for Carolina, he's going to have a hard time moving past 3RW unless I'm reading the roster wrong.</div></div>
There’s the Aho factor.

Vancouver Canucks signed J.T. Miller (7 Years / $8,000,000 AAV)
I don’t think he got paid based last season alone. His overall career stats are close to Filip Forsberg. Also he’s been very consistent with the Canucks and sometimes you just need the right team to reach the potential that is expected from a 1 st round pick.

Can’t they run a full roster without trading anyone? I think they can with Klefbom and Smith on LTIR.

Edmonton Oilers signed Jesse Puljujärvi (1 Year / $3,000,000 AAV)
Before Jan 29 2022 Puljujärvi scored 24 points in 36 games averaging 17:22 ice time and after he scored 11 points in 29 games averaging 14:43 time on ice. Given his entire 2022 was pretty bad points wise you still cannot ignore that date.

He’s 24 so they got 2 ufa years from him. Or one.. I’m not sure what you mean by leverage but it’s not exactly the same as with Aho or Matthews.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KSIxSKULLS</b></div><div>Robbed is bold because Kotkaniemi played 3rd line last year and still had a - WAR with a 47.9% faceoff wins. Robbed meaning they got a player they didn’t have rights for. Not robbed as winning a trade hands down.

(MTL/ARI) - 2022 conditional 1st round pick and 2024 2nd round pick for Dvorak
If you look at the big picture CAR is a winner here. They matched Aho offer sheet and robbed KK from that team so I doubt anyone making that move on them anymore. They played well and thanks to their good scouting and developing they afford making a miss with KK.

People seem to forget the initial reason for making long term contracts.
This is a great deal for St. Louis (as long as Parayko avoids injury). And it comes a year early!</div></div>

You don’t trust Saros as a goalie for a contender?

2 years with that low cap hit would have been good for the player. It’s almost like he doesn’t trust in himself.

Carolina Hurricanes signed Jesperi Kotkaniemi (1 Year / $6,100,035 AAV)
I simply can’t vote lol This is great for KK money wise however he doesn’t deserve all that money, not yet at least. In Aho’s case it was different as he did and does deserve it all. If KK used this as a tactic and secretly wants to stay with the Habs this is weird way showing it. I don’t see him having future there after this. Their fans are going to rip him apart unless he starts playing up to his draft status
