If the Penguins would have traded up to get McDavid 1st overall LIKE I SAID, they'd probably have more cups now!

3 prospects, a roster player just acquired (prob wouldn't get a pending RFA for Galchenyuk to begin with), and a 1st for a rental. Dynamite.

Bold offseason idea w SJS
Definitely dependent on Jarry continuing his all-star level performances the rest of the season.. but I do like it - For a team like the Penguins, it would be tough to give Murray a long term deal at $6.5 million +

Re-signing rest of the RFAs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MTF</b></div><div>Murray can ask for 7 all he wants he’s an RFA he’s not going to get that after underperforming all year. He’s not getting John Gibson and Tuukka Rask money that certifiably insane</div></div>
That's why I think Murray gets traded in the off-season if Jarry continues to be a .920+ save % goaltender. And you think it's outrageous for Murray to get Gibson/Rask money.. But their save percentages and GAA are pretty darn close for their career and you could argue Murray has faced more high danger scoring opportunities over his career than the other 2. So any arbitration could amount to Rask/Gibson being comparables and 1. leaves the Penguins no negotiating power nor trade value as he'd be a UFA next year and 2. in a Cap Crunch if and when he's awarded that much

Murray is going to want $7m, and I think he'll get traded.. Also don't think Simon would be too happy with what Kahun receives considering production

Getting Pitt 1st rd pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>Toffoli isn't a burner. He's known for his ability to always be in the sweet spots with a really good shot to go behind it. His underestimated quality is his work on the boards. Kopitar is the only player on the Kings that is better along the boards than Toffoli. He's also a very good threat on the PK for shorthanded goals, as well as being a pretty decent power play threat.
The entire Kings team has been struggling, but Toffoli can still produce at a very high clip when placed with skilled players (read: Not on the 3rd or 4th line). This is evidenced by him being the highest scoring player on the Kings since being placed on Kopitar's line about 15-20 games ago. PPG pace, almost.
Great top-6 forward with Cup-winning experience, PK and PP capabilities, and on-pace for another 20+ goal season on one of the worst offensive teams in the league.</div></div>
Appreciate it

Real question for a Kings fan - What is Toffoli's game right now? Pens getting linked with him a lot, so curious about his speed.

Cautiously reserved next year
I get that you want to see a team on paper, so i'm not overly critical - But Murray, it's been reported, is seeing mega-millions. Like Bobrovsky money, so 5.75 is very low. I think the Penguins keep either Murray or Jarry and trade the other. Jarry would make sense, if his play is sustained, since he would be due a bridge deal

Yea, Pens aren't giving up a player that can slot in anywhere in the lineup and not look out of place and a defenseman who has been solid all year as a dump off adding in picks as well.

Penguins fans- What do you think
It is interesting, but it would be a tough sell to go from Kessel to a third pairing RD in 1 season. The wild card for me is that Pateryn is signed through next year. Could he be a replacement for Schultz on the right side (with Marino taking over for Schultz on 2nd pair) - perhaps.. all depends on what they think of Addison and/or if they want size on D for the playoffs (because they have plenty of depth on defense right now). My guess is NO due to his perceived lack of puck moving ability, but I don't watch many Minny games to know if it's gotten better.

Calen Addison is the future second line RD (Marino 1 when Letang retires) and PP quarterback.. may even start on the third pair D beginning next season with Schultz on his way out. I really don't think the Pens are going to include him in any trade

Way too much is what people are saying? I'm not willing to give up Addison for Tatar at all, let alone a 1st.. Plus Kovalchuk is zero use to the Penguins with the way they play - speed/tenacity/puck possession

I think there are better ways of doing it that than.
JJ, Gudbranson, and Jugs out the door and you are at 11 million.
Not resigning AG is another 5 million.
This team can make cap space without hurting itself in the long run.</div></div>
Yea I wasn't saying this look was great by any means. Just that the $ can work with slight tweaks to what this author had
