The team thats 18th in goals against and 19th in PK doesn’t need one of the best penalty killers in the league who’s a super good defensive d man at $3M? Really?

I mean of course within reason but we have a bunch of picks and prospects which ny would want. If they sell him they can't take cap on doing it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>In_Utero</b></div><div>Campbell did just enough with Toronto to con Holland.</div></div>
And the fact they tampered to get him makes it funny im not gonna lie
I like Campbell, I respect him as a human, but man he is way to streaky to be a starting goalie. Hes a good tandem guy or when hes the only goalie he can carry the load, but thats it. Injuries and streaky play frustrate fanbases
Like man last year it was good play to start the year then bad play for 3 months but we all blamed the rib injury for that, then he came back did well, and in the playoffs wasnt the best and yea you could go he was a reason in not winning but whateves.

My Take On If We Win The Lottery
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tonyhzs</b></div><div>Yes, and if he is indeed a 30 goal scorer, he will want to get paid. He doesn't bring enough to the game to justify his current cap hit, let alone what he will want in a new deal. By thar time, you will have to have new deals for Seider, Raymond, Berggren all likely due hefty raises, plus Edvinsson and Kasper right around the corner.</div></div>
6.5 mil for a scorer who puts up 50-60 points? I'd take him in a heartbeat. Only concern I'd have is health. Seider and Raymond will get taken care of there's plenty of space.

Boeser is a legit 30 goal scorer from the right side. You need a bit of both.

Cap hit = $1,541,667 for 8 years but hey better than 5mill x 4 more years</div></div>
This is the optimal solution.
The Oilers don't need to find a netminder to wint them games. They have the most offensively-gifted forward core in the league to do that. They need one that won't actively lose them games. Anything with a pulse and a save percentage a hair over .900 would be a massive upgrade.
One of the other blogs I frequent ran some numbers if Edmonton had Talbot - who on all accounts is underperforming in Ottawa - and the difference sees Edmonton with somehing like 88 points. This is an astronomically good team that's being let down by the actual worst regular goaltender in Oilers history.

He's actually a top 6 centre. Good at draws, good possession numbers, he just doesn't put up a bunch of points. With his high cap hit he shouldn't cost too much to acquire. We can afford his cap hit for the two years and it fills the void until Kasper or whoever can fill that roll.

2021 Playoffs Discussion Thread
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheProductionLine</b></div><div>I can’t have a decent conversation with the analytics crowd because most of them never played the game and just rely on their stats. Some have played the game and they are obviously more fun to talk to and debate</div></div>
Both ends up of spectrums - it’s not the whole crowd. Happens on both sides.
Just like fans who love guys who are terrible analytically and won’t take a word of advice. Then those who only go by analytics for a guy who has bad adv stats yet the guy still produces/ plays well and won’t take a word of advice. It goes both ways.
Similar to scouting at the combine. People think; poor results mean bad player. Whereas smart scouts don’t take the results as set in stone - but use what they see and the results to determine a verdict. Most notably, some solid scouts say: combine what you see and result to determine a players strengths, weaknesses and what these mean toward a players health and their injury proneness. Not to determine if a players is bad or good.
Like everything; it’s best to use hand in hand and find a healthy balance. Never to disregard one. I do think there’s a lot of analysts who don’t play the game who are actually smart and reliable. It’s just you more often remember the bad guys as they leave a bigger imprint.

I haven't seen people on here posting advanced stats explaining why Matthews and Marner are actually good, but to anyone that says that:
The only thing that matters is the results. Put these numbers in the garbage, I DON'T CARE and frankly no one should.
If you watch the games, you know these guys HAVEN'T. BEEN. GOOD. ENOUGH.
This is the problem with analytcal people... I won't name names but the problem with them is that they don't watch the games. They only care about numbers. If I have to choose between a player that has good analytics who plays 24 minutes a game at D and another that has elite analytics but barely plays 18-19 minutes a game (ahem, ahem, ahem, Vince Dunn) I'm taking the player playing 24 minutes the game

It's just that Ontario has really strict Covid rules. If you look at some places in the states compared to Canada, Canada does not have more cases, they are just more strict. Even in Alberta and Saskatchewan, the most Conservative provinces, the Covid rules are still more strict than most places in the states.
