Contracts that are looking great this season no expiring
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTrades</b></div><div>If you aint cheating you aint trying. Not saying I like it but I admire their win at all costs mindset (minus Mitchell Miller of course). If you find a loophole that can help you, take it. Any team can do this. Yeah I’m not saying I have a problem with it. I think it’s brilliant.
I just can’t believe more people didn’t pitch a fit over it, especially with all the hemming and hawing they did with Kucherov getting hip surgery lol like even if you think Kuch was healthy - I personally don’t but that’s whatever - he at least had a real, serious injury that forced his team to sideline the defending hart trophy winner. How can you be mad at that and not kicking half the cap hit of the best defensive forward in the world to the following year!
Also the Devils should be awarded pick 17 in this years draft as compensation for the pick we lost. But that’s homerism and grievance.

Anderson Trade Value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTrades</b></div><div>Anderson is a hard player to put a price on. He has the ability to control a game but he also has too many nights where he is invisible. Which I think leads to the discrepancy in value. With that being said, power forward always go for a lot because of their ability to impact the play. Especially in the playoff. I think he contract is viewed as a bad one by most people so that brings down his value. I think a contract has to be coming back and I think the habs want no part in retaining salary. I'd say he gets you a first though because the habs don't need to trade him</div></div>
He's a luxury player. Worth nothing to a rebuilding club but worth a ton to a club that needs another piece to push for the playoffs. He's a much better player than Goodrow for example and we saw that return.

My take on underrated players from each team
Liljegren for TOR. Think people are recognizing how good Leafs goalies have been. Maybe not to the full extent but good enough. Liljegren has looked like a reliable top pair D so far this year even if the point totals don't reflect it.
HM: Gio, Holmberg, Murray, Samsonov, Sandin, Kerfoot & Holl & Engvall (though this is many Leafs fans fault for bashing them or trading them here, classic TOR whipping boys)

Really did this for fun, I don't want them to rush anything either
Especially with those two 2023 1st round pick that might end up being both top 10-15

Choose Wisely
1/ fwd definitely, 2W or 3C but has to be impactful or don’t bother
2/ Robertson
3/ let’s hope we win, but Atlantic toughest div and teams are so close - it’s a crapshoot but we’re bound to get a break eventually 🤞
4/ as things stand today- Murray
5/ assuming muzz stays on LTIR, I don’t see a roster player getting moved, just picks & prospects

Choose Wisely
1. I'm going to alter the response a little, but I would say a FWD (not necessarily a winger) that can give top 6 production (but doesn't have to be)
2. Robertson. I like him as a player and hope he does become an impact player for Toronto but I think that he will probably needs to be on a different team to flourish.
3. Round 2 (this is a tough one so I'll just take a half cop-out and assume they pass the first round but not the second).
4. Murray if he's healthy and performing on a similar level (even if he's slightly worse) to Samsonov.
5. Engvall. I would say Kerfoot if he didn't have a M-NTC. Both are essentially only contributing to the defensive aspect of things 5v5 and 4v5, so I think one gets traded for someone with a bit more offensive upside who has been performing. Robertson has a high chance of being included in a package too but there's no way that he gets traded without a roster player.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTrades</b></div><div>My whole point with signing brown is that I think you can get him on a cheaper deal than you could have before this year. Player like that are risky but hopefully worth the reward. I'd love to pay him less! I just don't think that the leafs can afford another contract over 5 mill next year</div></div>
Honestly, I don't think they need to sign a anyone who would demand that much money.
If management is committed to the big 4, it is about finding the right fit to complete the line (as Bunting did with Mattews and Marner).
Brown would be perfect frankly. Tenacious, can skate and pot 20. I always said Brown was that player - go back a couple years ago and find my threads where I said he would lol. One player I hated loosing 100%! Best part..... Brown was never going to be a $5-6 million winger..... just that guy that produced 40-50 points on a good deal that complimented lines.
In short, the Leafs don't need impact guys, they need solid complimentary pieces (why I really liked the Jarnkrok signing). And honestly, those guys just maybe in the system right now. Steeves is making a name for himself as a worker bee with great vision. Anderson has to get a shot on the 4th line (producing well as a Marlie while using his body), and Knies I think is going to come in and look an aweful like Erik Cole in his prime - never lit the house on fire but was bloody effective top 6 winger good for 30 goals and 60 points.
The Muzzin injury has just opened up so many options ......

Garland to TO
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTrades</b></div><div>I've been wanting this to happen since he was in Arizona. I had previously done Kerfoot plus a pick since last year they were within a few points of each other. I think this year the price has gone up because they are desperate in Van and Kerfoot is having an awful year.
Maybe try Kerfoot, Abruzzesse, and a 3rd. Van would trade Kerfoot at the deadline</div></div>
Looking at what VAN fans have been proposing for a Garland trade, the price doesn't seem to be very high at all.
Kerfoot still makes sense since they probably don't want to do a full-on dismantling tank (but the trade would still help the tank). Plus he's from there and has a history of putting up points.
I added two D prospects instead of a pick since Vancouver seems to desperately need D, and maybe they could see something in these guys. Mac has at least shown that an NHL career could be in his near future.

Question before we all go crazy
I would be surprised if he gets more than what either Bjorkstrand or Patches got right now. Has had a terrible season so far, is incredibly injury prone, and is under contract for term at a cap hit he isn’t worth. For a 1 dimensional offensive player, you would expect a bit more offense than what he is providing. Add into that he was going to be scratched before an injury occurred, he just doesn’t have positive value. This is the point his value is at its lowest.

I actually think we are in good shape next year, barring anything unforeseen happening (touch wood 🤞😀). We’re set at most major positions with some internal candidates close; just need two medium signings + a few minor signings to round our squad. Dubas and his team don’t get enough credit for managing cap pretty well.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTrades</b></div><div>I fear Kampf might price himself out of Toronto. Bunting I have no idea where that's gonna go. He is either going to get Hyman money or stay in the 3's is my guess.
As much as I think Samsonov is awesome, they need the cap space and they need a top 6 forward and some help on D</div></div>
I hope Kampf and bunting stay but if their demands are not reasonable then we have in house candidates (Holmberg has been impressive + I really like Steeves) and/or their money can be used on FA replacements targeting top 6Ws and 3/4C. I agree - one RHD (stay at home, physical but can skate) to play with Reilly would be ideal

I think it all looks reasonable; I would prefer a rhd (mayfield or Zub or Jensen) over doumalin; as long as their cap hit stays reasonable @ $4-5M or less. A little rich for Brown but could balance out if bunting or Kampf ask for more.
I hate to see Samsonov go (based on his performance to date) but don’t see how we keep him & Kallgrenn has shown me enough that I’m comfortable with him as backup.

What Id do
Bruins easily pass. If bruins move a 1st it will be for someone with the mobility to play C aswell.
And even if they were to move a 1st for a winger it would be for one that has a play style like Crouse/ Anderson/ Jeannot

I assume SJ will trade Reimer. Team likely doesn't make playoffs and he's a veteran on a cheap 1 yr deal. Don't really need him as we have two decent goalies in the AHL and hopefully one can backup next year for Kahkonen. Probably costs a 2nd or a 3rd.
