Biggest problem is handing out NMC like they’re candy. I could under NTC in some cases, but I’d never hand out more than a handful and that’d be reserved for the legit core of the team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kravtsov_Stan</b></div><div>I agree because he's not bad at all he is a very useful player he just doesn't fit with the current top 6. I think its part of a larger identity problem that the team has between the Gorton and Drury era. Gorton built his team around guys like Panarin, Chytil, Jones, Zibanejad, and Fox. Gorton built a team to run on skill and speed with young players being at the core and a few physical guys on the edges to support. Drury flipped this around and he seems like he would much rather have a team with a core of guys like Trouba, Kreider, Trocheck, Lindgren, and Kakko with skilled guys here and there to support them. So I think theyre sort of in between two teams while Drury can't really fully make his team due to the cap and the remnants of Gorton's core are still all over the lineup.
And for Trochecks contract yeah its not the best now but given Chytil is on a deal for even less I'm not too worried especially with the cap going up</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JackAce91</b></div><div>I'm not sure why NJD would do this. Petty is a 1c, so is Hughes. They can work as a tandem, like how Crosby and Malkin did, but why? I just don't really understand it.</div></div>
I agree. I'm looking at teams with a surplus of very high-end prospects that could potentially offer VAN what they want to try and make the point to VAN fans that they aren't going to get what they are dreaming of for Petey if he were to be dealt. They'll get a good package for sure, but they seem to be a little delusional about what the market has to offer, and want a Wayne Gretzky to LAK-like return.

Yes. Sorry, I should have stated... that is the whole premise of these proposals I've been making for Petey. The issue I'm trying to suss out is value <strong><em>IF</em></strong> he were to request a trade or tell the team that he won't sign long-term.

I'd take that deal if I was the Flames
I understand the cap space it frees up with the NSH trade but, trading Marner when you're trying to win now is tough to justify
If Chicago made that deal the return would more likely be a 3rd or 4th rounder not a 2nd IMO

(NSH/TBL) - Jeannot for Foote, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th
I wish that someone had proposed something close to this exact trade a week ago, so we could now apologize for all the unkind things we would have said about his evaluation skills and grasp of hockey . . . I would have been first in line, because I think this would have been an overpayment BEFORE including the first . . .
What's fascinating to me is to speculate about how this came to happen . . . did Poile tell Brisebois that he wanted three firsts for Jeannot and Brisebois managed to negotiate him down???

So, let me get this straight. Poile got for
Neidereiter: a 2nd rounder (traded to a divisional rival no less)
Jeannot: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and roster player.
My brain is broken. Fleecing by Nashville.

(SJS/NJD) - Meier, Harrington, Ibragimov, Hatakka, Émond for Mukhamadullin, Okhotiuk, Johnsson, Zetterlund
The Devils still have Nemec, L. Hughes, Holtz, Sharangovich, Bahl, and Mercer. They got one of the best wingers in the league and didn't hurt their future or their present in the slightest. Grier is either a prophet who can see into the future or just delusional. This is horrible for San Jose IMO, although I do like Zetterlund as a get. They didn't even get 2 first round picks which would have been the very least NJD could've offered
In Grier's defense, it might have been a harder sell to most contenders given Meier's ridiculously high QO. NJD is in a position to buy and also have the necessary cap space to extend Meier. That is the only possible way this return can be justified, although I find a lack of interest in Meier due to his QO to be a pretty big stretch. Can't say I'm surprised given how lackluster Grier's trades have been though, can't wait for Edmonton to add EK65 for Cody Ceci

MEIER
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>edeangel84</b></div><div>Show me which players received 2 1sts in a trade and tell me if Meier is their equal. Eichel got something similar in Krebs who was a 1st, a 1st, a 2nd, and Tuch. Kerbs hasn’t panned out to equal a 1st. Meier is no Eichel. Debrincat got a lottery pick, a 2nd, and 3rd but again he is a better winger. Rarely does a player get two 1sts and Meier isn’t in that caliber. If we were to trade Jake Guentzel tomorrow I wouldn’t expect 2 1sts even if he was going to be an RFA instead of UFA. Very few players are worth that price.</div></div>
Hagel got two 1sts. Different contract situations but he still did get two 1sts, and I’d say Meier is better than him

RoR is really underrated; he is one of the best 2-way players in the game, and has an mysterious ability to move defenders to where he wants them.
Also: Minnesota is he real loser

hahaha fire Lou
If we did this trade a month ago I would’ve been fine with it. But after losing 10 out of our last 13, scoring over 2 goals just twice over that stretch, it is baffling to me that Lou thinks this move will get it done. Now we’ll either just miss the playoffs or be a first round exit, lose our top prospect, a chance to pick a guy in the strongest draft since 2015, and potentially have the guy we traded for walk in free agency. It’s absurd

I find it interesting that to improve a team that is top 5 in goals for and bottom 10 in goals against you decided to bring in 8 new forwards but only one new defenseman lol

Oilers going for Kane
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GeoZei</b></div><div>As a Chicago fan it makes sense. For the Oilers it doesn’t. We have multiple years of McDavid and will want to keep him and Draisaitl when their contracts end in 3/4 years and if we throw away our futures for a single possible win on a position that isn’t our biggest question mark makes it less likely we manage to keep both of them later.</div></div>
The revenue a team makes as a result of winning the cup is enormous and the owners are generally in it to make money that is why it's not uncommon for a team to go all-in for a cup run. Fans usually don't like it when a team gives up a lot of futures for a run, Hawks did multiple times but in the end it worked out. Tampa has done it as well. At the end of the day, Holloway is a good prospect but he's not a elite prospect, meaning the teams success in the future isn't predicated on him. In other words, if given the option A) win a cup and lose Holloway in the process or B) don't win a cup but keep Holloway for the future, about every owner will go with option A.

Depends if it means a cup. Kane is arguably the best right winger in the game and if the team at the TDL looks that strong without Kane, adding Kane means a really good chance for a cup. That said, I don't see it being the case, but a late 1st and a prospect like Holloway is about what it would likely take per reports out of Chicago.
