Montreals new protection list now that Shea Weber is going to be unprotected
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>That speaks to the great job that the Habs organization does when personal matters involving the team need to be kept under wraps.
Last year, Drouin proved to be an affective role player during the playoffs in the quarantined bubble.
Played wing very well in an offensive role up the line. Plays on the power-play and was good option as first/second line winger.
Evans has more grit.
But people completely overlook that even though the Habs made it to the Cup Finals, they barely made the playoffs.
Drouin did way more to help the Habs get to the playoffs than Evans.
My assumption is that Jake Allen will be selected by Seattle.
Your assumption is that one of the Jakes could go to Seattle but that Jake Evans would be protected over Drouin.
That doesn't make any sense.</div></div>
I don’t know if you could say he was an effective 1st or 2nd line winger or powerplay guy with 2 goals. Yes he had the assist but but first line wingers have that amount of assist plus few more goals.
I agreed jo had a good bubble performance, showed a flash with zuk there.
I’m not against not bring him back but at this point no ones knows wgat he wants. So that would scare Seattle away.
Sorry I meant if both Jake’s were exposed to Seattle it would be one of them. As in your scenario. I’m not trying to throw shade or say your wrong. It was just my feeling that the organization see more of a future with Evans then Jo at this point.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>Why's that?</div></div>
I can’t see a team having interest in a guy who walked away for whichever reason, without him saying he’s ready to return or at least something
Evans is providing to be an affective role player. Played wing very well in a defensive role up the line. Kills penalties and was good option as third/fourth line Center
Drouin has more skill but Evans in the latter part of the season and early into the playoffs before the injury showed value
My assumption it would be one of the Jakes going to Seattle. Most likely Allen.

Seattle can set the price, if teams don’t buy. They’ll just take best player available then: Seattle has nothing to lose

Dermott
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>I think too many so called sports fans get caught up in the silly numbers game. It's kinda tough to pair match especially on the road. Since I know the Leafs the best, an example was last season.
People won't believe when I say I though Tyson Barrie was the Leafs worse Dman. He played almost all the RHD on the PP, but was never used on the PK. And in tight games, Holl and Ceci were the mainstays for defensive situations. So while Ceci was castrated on this site for being a terrible Dman, and many folks don't appreciate Holl.....Barrie (and often Reilly) played "easy" minutes.</div></div>
Man leaf fans are the worse. Simple question does dermott play in tougher match ups then I am aware of from what I have seen that’s not the case, then I wasn’t going to do a ton of research just hoping some could say yes or kinda or not really. But still don’t know. Wasn’t just trying to start an argument or get the “so called sports fan” earlier post I example my question and said I used stand different roles but yet we choose to avoid the question and be little.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>What does third pair actually mean? You think Reilly is a "first" pair Dman when he rarely plays on PK? Reilly has a lot of points and plays the exclusive LHD on the PP, but that does make him a 1st pair?
Leafs certainly aren't trading a top 6 Dman for an more expensive winger that they don't need. Not saying the trade value isn't fair, but certainly not a fit for the Leafs.</div></div>
Okay, this is why I’m asking. Montreal uses Weber and Petry pairings vs the top two line for most the game or all the game if they can. Third pairing match ups down the line up, not often vs the top two lines. That’s all I’m asking. I’m not trying to start an argument.
Would have guess Toronto would have said Riley a top line pairing D.

I don’t actually think either are special or much more then 5th or 6th guy.
I just wondering if there was more of a reason, like Toronto plays him and bogosian in more of a shut down role, and are really an expanded third pairing. Not your average third pairing. Not just that kulak sucks, Because kulak when is stuck with petry actually gets on vs top two lines of the opponent for most the game.
I understand kulak plays either shelter minutes with Romanov or plays bigger minutes but then it is insulated by having Petry as his partner.

He also ranks in the 93rd percentile in xGA/60 compared to Kulak's 53rd (Dermott faces more high end competition). None of this is to say they should make that trade, but the 'bigger and more sound defensively' argument was kind of feeble.</div></div>
I’m asking, but why does dermott play higher competition? He’s on third pair.

Okay, I’ll entrain this what stats that show this guy to be the best defensive player in the North.
Also if he has played 20 games of 31 at Center he’s probably a Center currently. You can move him to the wing but then probably move dru to Center because they don’t have two Center better then dru at Center. So he’d still be second line.

Best defensive player in the North but a -4, say what you want about +/-, if you are calling some one the BEST defensive player in a division, having a - rating is a bit rich. Feel like you are over valuing mangiapane.
Also sounds like lindholm is a Center now mostly.

Hardly the case, considering Jo has more assist then mangiapane, and dube has point and played less games then mangiapabe. Yes Tkachuk is an excellent player. And lindholm sometimes played wing coke on, he plays center.

Who is playing over drouin? I don’t see 2 left wingers or 4 wingers on Calgary’s roster better.

. These gotta stop. Price isn’t getting traded. He has had two bad months and everyone is done... he’s signed long term without movement and high dollar, meaning he isn’t leaving else it’s to win a cup. Right now no contender is listening.
The habs aren’t just going to dump him for spare parts. Better to hope he plays through it in mtl.
