Sabers say he'll no (they take 2 cap dumps AND give 2 picks. Don't make sense.
Yamamoto isn't signing for 1.5 , it'll probably be around 3.

That Buffalo trade is ridiculous. I wouldn’t even trade Dahlin for Marner, you’re never getting Mittelstadt too. And don’t try to tell me that it’s because you’re taking the Skinner contract because you’re asking buffalo eat half of it.

There is almost no way that Reinhart or Eichel will be traded in the division. The Last thing Buffalo wants is to get burned by the player they deal away 8 times a year for the next 7 years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>Thank you!!!! I’ve been saying this for months. I’m not even sure mcdavid could fetch half the returns sabers fans seem to think. Sooo many times see “any eichel trade starts with…” like the sabers are in position of having any leverage he’s a good not great top line centre that is seriously broken and disgruntled if the injury doesn’t scare away most of the league his attitude will. This is one case I gotta say accepting pennies on the dollar is the best case scenario it’s a distraction and negative look on the franchise longer this drags out.</div></div>
"He's a good not great top line center" he was top 5 in hart voting just last year, averaged ppg with a broken rib this year. The team sucking is the only reason his "attitude" is bad, ROR was the same reasoning and suddenly that disappears when you start winning.

That's ur call and that's perfectly fair, I just don't feel NYR fans should act like he'll be traded to NYR for a 2021 1st and Zachary Jones lmao

And bc he’s been so smart about acquiring all this talented youth, it gives him the chance to use some of it to get a player like Eichel
Not enough toom for ALL those talented kids anyways
Might as well trade them while their value is high to get a proven star
Bc they won’t all work out
And heck.... you’ve got enough to go get a defenseman too!
With a few good moves, u guys can contend with Vegas & Colorado imo</div></div>
We'll see, we've all likely beat this conversation into the ground, and now it's just a wait-and-see period. Either way, it's clear Buffalo should get a haul for Eichel (even if it isn't his full value), their team can finally move past this Eichel limbo and focus on the future. And to be clear: I do value Eichel, and think Kopitar to Eichel to Byfield sets up the team in an amazing position for the next decade, it's just trying to figure out the insane logistics of how you manage everything else afterwards without falling into pitfalls that Toronto, Edmonton, and similar top-heavy teams are built.

in regards to interest in Eichel, it will be a bidding war from the bottom up not the top down.
sure, "half the league" is going to call on Eichel, but the number of teams that will submit quality offers is probably 5 teams or less.
if you are expecting this type of return for an injured, disgruntled, and all but demanded out Eichel - it will be a long summer for you.
regardless of the outcome, it can be guaranteed that Eichel will not be in Buffalo come next season and either will Byfield or Laf...

Rumors are that a number of teams have already contacted the Sabres about Eichel. I'm 99% sure a team would be willing to give what the Sabres want for Eichel

The injury narrative is clearly overblown. Anyone with internet access and basic reading comprehension skills can find this out in under 5 minutes if they cared to look. But there's the problem: people "just know" and never fact check their opinions. Trying to educate people on the internet is a black hole you don't want to get dragged into.

Cap does not matter to Buffalo. In fact, they could take on bad contracts to increase the return.
If Buffalo does not want to trade him for this why would they agree to a mutual contract termination? Mutual seems like a pretty important part of a mutual contract termination.

Well he wants the surgery because his agent thinks its gonna let him drag his ass right through the next season into nmc country. But you are 100% correct, there has been no medical opinion to corroborate his insisting that the sabres allow him to have this surgery (and i believe pay for it as well). Without the backing of a neutral third party, which he doesnt have, why would the league consider releasing him from his contract? Dont know? Me neither.
