Buch and Strome are prospects? .-.
Rykov is allegedly supposed to develop into a top 4 NHL defensemen. He hasn't gotten a chance with the Rangers at all due to existing depth. But I'm considering the bigger prize here as Buch, and they can choose to flip Strome or sign him as well.

Poehling isn't a good winger, so if he can't play center, he doesn't draw in.

Take out STL second rounder in the MTL deal and its closer but not sure this is the time MTL deals Danault. They likely try to move Poehling first and keep Danualt for thier 3C on a good contract.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>Just because Allen might get moved to shed salary doesn’t make him a cap dump player. I’d be shocked if don’t get a legit good offer for him heck I’d be interested in trying to work something out from an oilers perspective.</div></div>
Of the two Jake Allen will be easier to move for sure. He's a good goalie, especially in a backup role. It can be an "acquire and extend" type situation where if you can give him some financially security he'll likely ink up with you. Probably won't break the bank either.
Bozak is going to be hard. He has a 10 team no trade list so if you take out the bottom 10 teams in the league there's not much of a market given his cap hit and teams not having the cap space. If the Blues move him they'll have to retain some salary and/or pay someone to take him. He can still contribute and he's a versatile player, but he's also a $5 million cap hit. That makes it really hard. Army would have to work some magic to get a team to take Bozak's entire last year and it being a team not on his list.
Of course if Petro walks none of this becomes an issue.

Hudon is more trash. I'm not suggesting that Montreal will trade for Allen at all, he'd be worth more to a team that is crying out for a proper starter (SJ, DET, etc.). But he's absolutely better than nearly all of those fish, including some that cost much more.

We need Ghost on PP... play him 3rd pair 5 on 5 I don't care but our PP sucks and Mete doesn't generate enough.
I really think that Ghost worth the Extra 1,5M$ more than Mete as he should get a new contract around 2,5M.
In regards of our C- we have depth but NO Formal 1C... many project but still no proven one and I really like Danault... on a shut-down line

Is it worth it for MTL to trade for a guy who’ll play on the 3rd pairing getting paid 4.5M ? Not sure, he would get PP time for sure, but he can’t play 25 min a night with Weber on the 1st pairing and Petry needs a more defensive player with him like Mete or Romanov maybe. Chiarot-Weber have good chemistry too

The best return for Eichel
Sure this might get it done but it ain’t worth it in my mind. We’re trading away our top 3 prospects and a top 10 pick in a strong draft. That’s making so many holes in our lineup for one player. This team is moving in the right direction we have one of the top prospect pools in all of hockey and it’s going to get better after this draft. Stay on track and within a year or two we’re going to be contenders. Look at what Buffalo has done since they’ve had Eichel they haven’t made the playoffs once, he still needs a team around him and by trading away all our top prospects there isn’t much of a team around him in Montreal.

If the 4th line is like you say, they're willing to lose, giving them kids a look at NHL playoffs hockey. If they're hoping to win, the 4th line will probably be more like Poehling/Weal/Weise...</div></div>
The only problem is that we traded all our 4th line players at the deadline. When you're a seller at the TDL, it's hard to win in the playoffs after.

Drouin - Domi - Byron
Lehkonen - Suzuki - Armia
Poehling - Evans - Weal
Chiarot - Weber
Kulak - Petry
Mete - Fleury

COL Tatar trade and Granlund UFA
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Carlapin007</b></div><div>Hmmm. My question now becomes : would Mtl be thinking of using Jost as a C or at LW? Because we already have Danault, Susuki, Domi, Kotkaniemi, etc.
Anyways, Jost and a 1st, I'm in. But I think this trade only happens once Domi is either signed or traded...</div></div>
Danault is an UFA in 2021 so I wouldn't necessarily count on him long-term. Particularly as you have several other C's on the team you'll want to have take over on the top 2 lines (i.e. Suzuki, Kotkaniemi).
If you move Danault you can run with Suzuki/Kotkaniemi/Jost down the middle. Alternatively one of Jost or Kotkaniemi can play on the wing. Jost is quite a versatile player and can play up or down the lineup so he offers a lot of flexibility.

Hard to tell what Jost's ceiling is as he's not really been playing in top 6 minutes all that much. But when he has he's generally done well (eg. 7 points in 9 games after the deadline this year). At worst he's probably a reasonably solid 3C, but could also be a 2C if he can find his offensive game in the NHL. Avs have been using him mostly as a 3rd line winger but that has more to do with the fact that we have Kadri as 2C and Compher as 3c.

Apparently, Tyson Jost was the Habs target if Sergachev wasn't available at no9. Also, I don't think the Avs are trading Girard, especially after signing that contract and the fact that Byram has yet to prove himself. If I'm corrected, Tyson Barrie was traded after Cale Makar proved his worth during the 2019 playoffs.

2 Trades Habs need to make

Vedejmo's a B+ prospect consistently developing and made a jump to the AHL's smaller ice without effecting his growth or production but instead he got better .
he's a defensive forward primarily but he's got the passing skills to be relied upon on the PP and when the games on the line and you need a sure thing .
he's no Suzuki , Poehling , Caufield or Kotkanemi which are our A level prospects with Primeau and Brook being on the line between A and B level prospect .
then you're looking at Fleury , Evans ,Vedejmo , Ikonen, Ylonen, Olofsson , Romanov , Struble and Norlinder all sitting comfortably in your B level prospect bracket.
with players like Harris,Teasdale ,Fonstad , Mcshane, that danish goalie we got this year and maybe Pinard-Harvey sitting in the grey area between B and C level prospect .
after that its all long term projects and career players in the AHL and other leagues .
cases can be made for Mccarron , Pezzetta ,Belzile, and Leiskanen but its still to early to tell with 3/4 and Maccarron's making a comeback run greatly improving under Coach Bouchards style of earning ice time he's thrived and now fully healthy for the first time since his shoulder serperation in 2014 (according to Mccarron)
Vedejmo's good he's just someone who shouldnt be used in a cap dump
Ikonen should because like his brother he'll likely struggle with the speed of north american hockey
but most fantasy sports fans just see the hype and consider him way more valuable then he is compared to his peers in our system at his level .
Vedejmo has a far higher NHL upside because he's big and skate really well allowing him to thrive in todays NHL
Ikonen's got all the tools just like his brother but none of the vision . he could develop it with the right mentor/coach but those are unfavorable odds in comparison to Vedejmo

Get in playoffs, but still build for future
I think Schlemko is pretty much untradable for just a pick. Only way to move him is to take salary back. So I propose a new idea for him and/or Benn if we feel we don't need them and no one wants them. If waivers doesn't work, Put them in the minors. Laval is a mess and with Mete and Juulsen both looking like they'll stay in MTL, Laval will need some better dmen. Their caps are quite low so the cap we'd have to pay is barely anything. Just over 1M in cap lost for both combined playing the minors. Considering how much cap we have I wouldn't be worried about it.
Schlemko and Benn are still decent players but if it comes to moving them and no one wants them, straight to Laval and it actually might help the mini-Habs be better having some vets on D and not just Tom Parisi and ... I don't even know any other dmen on the team haha so there is my point.

they gotta get a center and stastny doesnt cost you players and 5 years is probably what it will take to get him.... 3 years and he will go back to winnipeg..... otherwise you are going to have to overpay for o'reilly or draisalt or some other center... that might look worse than buying out stastny 2 or 3 years from now... so I say pay stastny and keep your assests as o'reilly will cost too much
