In last years playoffs, the Jets had one defenceman who had a positive differential on Goals, Shot Attempts, and Scoring chances. This defenceman played the third most minutes. Do you want to take a guess as to who this defenceman was? Definitely sounds like he faired terribly though, absolutely. (Sarcasm)

A #2 Defenceman is someone seen as a top pairing guy, but not a #1. Now if you say top 4, or second pairing, we wouldn’t have an interpretation issue. No worries!

So Jake Gardiner has played 1 more playoff game than Hamonic this year ;)

Seriously though, Hamonic is washed man. Poor Hughes this year. Winnipeg fans really gotta get passed this obsession with home grown players. Hamonic tried to sign here, the Jets passed this year. And it’s a good thing they did.

Logan Stanley is what he is, a 23 year old, third pairing, sheltered defender. He doesn’t have the IQ, or foot speed to ever play against the best of the best in the NHL. Losing him, when you have much better prospects in Heinola, Samberg and Chisholm is a non loss.

Dylan Demelo would be one of the first players taken by Seattle. An organization that has built up a heavy analytic infrastructure sees how undervalued he is at $3M and how much value he brings to a team. You don’t give up those types when you have them. It’s one of Chevy’s only two, real valued free agent deals in his tenure.

This is insane to even be a discussion at this point. The real discussion should be between Logan Stanley and Josh Morrissey, who a team like Seattle likely isn’t betting on long term, on that contract. For the same reasons stated above, they’d see just how deeply he’s struggled and hasn’t lived up to the contract. That’s a negatively valued assed in a capped league.
