1- Saros has a year left after this, which means that no extension can be signed before a trade

2- that means, the team who might trade for him is taking a HUGE RISK that he’ll sign (lowering his trade value bc of the uncertainty) and will have to basically give Saros whatever he wants (again, lowering his trade value)

3- not many teams that would want Saros can afford the HUGE contract he’ll demand, which lowers the team’s realistically bidding on him (AGAIN, lowering his trade value)

4- and even lowering the teams bidding on him even further,
how many will wanna give a 30year old goalie(his age when this contract is up) an 8year extension for HUGE $$$ that Saros will dictate???
Guess what that does to his trade value?!

This isn’t gonna be a situation where u have half the league bidding on him
NSH will be lucky to have 2 or 3 teams seriously interested

He’s not gonna get traded for a haul
Maybe that means he’s not traded at all
But u guys are NUTS thinking NSH is gonna get some massive return- it will not happen</div></div>

None of those trades had one of the worst contracts in the NHL coming back with the return.

Saros not being a rental does not somehow make him less valuable. The team acquiring him would be thrilled to get another cheap year from him. They'll have more time to negotiate a new contract, and could always sell him as a rental at the next deadline, if they can't work something out.

Saros only gets traded if there's a haul coming back. Trotz has been vocal about not wanting to trade him. When NSH explored a Saros trade last deadline, the reported ask was two 1sts and 2-3 top prospects. Trotz isn't going to let a supserstar go for a 2nd a cap dump or something, because some fans have a "GoaLiES aReN'T WorTh VeRy mUCh" mentality. Lots of fans think a two-way contract means a player is waiver exempt - they're not right either.
