This is 1B money, and Montembeault is an elite 1B.

Less than Georgev, Vanecek and Gustavson even if the whole 3 years are unrestricted. A steal.
Went Wugues did it again. Goalie trade coming soon now that no insurance policy is needed anymore.

Currently has the best 5v5 saves above expected in the league. Great signing by Hughes and Co.
Expected value was 3.5-3.75

Detroit Red Wings signed Patrick Kane (1 Year / $2,750,000 AAV)
I frankly cant understand lopsided voting on "No", 1 year prove it deal for a future HoF with plenty of winning experience. Not to mention the overwhelming chemistry with Cat. If he struggles off the surgery so be it, but the risk-reward is favorable given it's not a long term commitment. No question a W for the team.

-unused cap space
-team competing for a playoff spot
-1 year deal
-Debrincat connection
Worth a try, I vote yes

Pearson isn't LTIR, he's been skating and is cleared to play. This trade doesn't happen if he was to ride LTIR with complete confidence.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>well yeah, its a known fact. it happens all the time that player get traded for pennies in the offseason or early season and get flipped for more at the deadline.
Klingberg was never traded for to begin with, cant really ''flip him for more'' if you didnt trade for him at the starts.</div></div>
People thought Klingberg would easily fetch a 1st at the deadline. You can just look at the forum on the singing. He didn't even come close to that. Guys aren't guaranteed to get more at the deadline.
Boosh is a bottom pair d man who will be playing 15-16 minutes on a bad team. You want some comparisons at the deadline mr i follow trades?
Robert Hagg for a 6th
Jordie Benn for a 6th
Michael Del Zotto for a 6th
Yea a 6th sounds about right. Getting a 4th back would probably be best case scenario.

Ottawa Senators signed Jake Sanderson (8 Years / $8,050,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CBA</b></div><div>High risk ? Where ?</div></div>
Let's face it, paying a guy 64 million after 77 games is risky. It's not like Sanderson was a Calder Finalist either. Not saying we won't outperform that contract, but look at a Myers for example, insane rookie year and downhill from there. Again, not saying its gonna happen with Sanderson, but there is definitely some risks

(CAR/PHI) - Rizzo, 2025 5th (CAR) for Kase
This is Don Waddell doing the Flyers a favor imo. Adds context to why Flyers bought out DeAngelo instead of trading him for rizzo like originally thought.
Instead Carolina got him at a cheaper AAV. If I had to guess this was agreed upon when that happened.

habs decline, even if that trade is really equivalent in value
retained salary slots are valuable for the habs, Hughes said they want to use their cap space to get assets back, and they already are using up 1 of 3. Theyre not gonna use one of the other two on desmith when Petry, Monahan, Savard, or Allen are most likely on the block

IMO SJS got fleeced, but I understand how difficult it can be reacquiring a franchise legend like Mike Hoffman.

Montreal = Get rid of Hoffman, Get rid of Pitlick, get a 2nd in 2025 + get a decent top 4 option retained, also pick up a decent young AHL player. Honestly they make out the best short term and long term in this trade.
Pittsburgh = Give up a 1st round pick for Karlsson, and a 2nd + Desmith + Petry + Legare. Paid a price to dump salary, but get the best Offensive Defensemen in the NHL for dirt cheap. Short Term W, Long term Yikes
San Jose = Eat salary and give up the best offensive player in the NHL for a top 10 protected pick? Yikes

(EDM/DET) - Kostin, Yamamoto for Future considerations
This is the most baffling trade I've ever seen. Detroit buys out Yamamoto and doesn't qualify Kostin, so they're left with nothing but half a million dollars in dead cap for two years. Fortunately Yamamoto was young enough that the buyout was cheap, but why in the world would they do this for nothing? Am I missing something or is Holland laughing his head off at Yzerman's stupidity?

Yep. I'd rather be keeping him and at least try to trade him for something at the TD. Not sure what Nashville's plan is here.
