Smart add for Montreal. I really, REALLY like Newhook (a little less now that he's a Hab though), but Colorado made out pretty well.

Good deal for both sides, but IMO, Montreal Wins.

Wow, interesting deal.
Was told by Avs fans 2 weeks ago that it would be an overpay to move Newhook+ for Scheifele so kinda feel validated by this one lol. Also good on Kent Hughes for taking another swing at a young player rather than keeping the picks. Draft tails off by pick 31.

Montreal: Acquire a top 9 forward who will fit right into their core group. Young with lots of potential.

Colorado: Trade a Young Player who doesn't have a spot on their roster for more futures that will likely end up being flipped in the short term for more win now assets.

Value is fine, but I really feel like this might be a trade Colorado ends up regretting. Newhook has a lot of good qualities and could easily be a breakout candidate.

Kind of seems odd the Avs would be taking away from a position of weakness, but Sakic and MacFarland obviously have something cooking.

Hoping Newhook gets a better opportunity in Montreal.
