Not because I disrespect the Habs, I don’t. Great hockey city and great club history but you should never trade within division , plus no way we need or can fit in either of those guys.

Sens need a sure thing, and they need to be efficient with spending. I Don't think a 5.6mil Jake Muzzin who is already showing signs of decline is either of those things at all.

Drop the third round pick and add Dobby to the Dallas trade. And I’d still prefer we looked for dman elsewhere

The Poolparty thing kinda makes me chuckle...*IF* Holland put Oilers fans through those schenanigans a couple of years ago to then turn around and sell him (extremely) low, it'd be pretty comical.

I'd pass on that trade from a Habs perspective. Petry needs to be traded for picks and prospects, not a roster player.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joey_mar_cur</b></div><div>TBF up to this point he has not been set up to succeed, getting top minutes on a bottom-feeder team in only your second year is a tall order. his lack of offensive production also tends to discourage people who want to believe that he truly is the answer. on the flip side though, his defensive numbers show great promise. he is by no means perfect still sometimes getting caught chasing a hit instead of the puck, or being just a little bit loose on his coverage, but all in all things that are expected and can be forgiven in a young player. I expect this year to really show what he can do, tying together his experience and showing for all to see that he can be a reliable NHL D be it on the top or second pair.</div></div>
Hoping for the best. I see a lot of that response in what we heard about dahlin. "he was a minus 32" yeah well he played top pair minutes on a team that lost 20 straight games in 2020/2021 lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joey_mar_cur</b></div><div>halfway through this year you could've argued that Romanov was not worth the time anymore but under MSL he really blossomed into a gem (how many different players did that though amirite?) now a bonified top four D who can play both sides comfortably, he is solidly our best defenceman and in my mind the third most valuable player in our organization.</div></div>
exactly right. People need to view Romanov for what he is, he isnt going to put up 50 point seasons, he reminds me a lot of Emelin but i think has more potential. He will be hopefully signed long term this summer so they can keep the cap hit as low as possible but he is very much a part of the future in MTL.

selling the bag to rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BUFF36</b></div><div>So 2 1st might not be ready for 7yrs, you could be right. But this draft is so out of wack with rankings that those 2 picks could be a huge part of the Sabres future. Connor is a good player like I said, just better make sure it's the right move at this time.</div></div>
To me it would be. It accomplishes a few things. It helps further solidify the top 6 and also alleviates the potential headache of 4 top 9 centers and 3 slots for them. It gives you a player who plays in all situations and does so effectively. It also doesn't remove any of the guys who most see as the core moving forward (Cozens, Krebs, Quinn, Peterka, etc etc). They still have a deep prospect pool, and numerous picks the next 2 years to further add to that pool as well.
The problem with what TM did was that he traded almost every decent prospect the Sabres had at the time, along with most of their picks. They didn't have a deep prospect pool back then to begin with and had a lot of bad picks because of the video scouting they decided to try out which clearly didn't work. He basically wholesale sold off the future for a couple of players and none of them were gamechangers like Connor.
Skinner-Tage-Tuch, Connor-Krebs/Cozens-Quinn would be a hell of a top 6 in 2 years, and would still let you roll Pertka-Krebs/Cozens-Asplund as a 3rd line.
It's all a pipe dream anyway as the Jets would never trade him I'm sure, and they would expect more.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BUFF36</b></div><div>You just TM'd us, that's alot of future to give up. Connor is good, but could hurt us down the road. Got a lot of young players we still need to sort out if they are ready or may never be, need to keep the flow in the system Going</div></div>
I don't know that it's that much future. Olofsson is a year older, Mittelstadt is 2 years younger. The picks will not be NHL ready for several years at the earliest and Buffalo would still have their 1st and 2nd this season along with multiple 2nds next season. Connor had 93 points this past season, and has 4 seasons over 30 goals, 26 last year in the shortened season. He's signed for 4 more years at a pretty reasonable cap hit also given his production.

But he's really not. There's a reason he's 22, been in the league part of three years, only making his full debut this year. He's good, but he's not as good as you're trying to make him out to be. This was his first full season and you're trying to paint him as a top 4 D man. What he might be is different. Raanta on the other hand IS a starting-caliber goaltender when he's healthy. He's been that way since he was a Blackhawk. A young 3rd pairing D-man is not worth as much as a starting-caliber goaltender whichever way you want to paint it. Let's try this a different way. Is someone like Alexander Romanov worth more than Jack Campbell was when Campbell had a year left? GOD no.

Your teams best offer for 2nd overall pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joey_mar_cur</b></div><div>as far as the habs are concerned, I would start with a package centred around Suzuki, the devil's pick of Romanov or Harris (young LD), and Jake Allen. I know with Nico and jack a center isn't the best but Suzuki has played RW at many points throughout his career and could slot in with Hughes and Bratt on the top line. Jake Allen will naturally compete with blackwood for that #1 role, Allen (who IMO) is one of the most underrated goalies in the league, will help greatly. if it's necessary, Calgary's first-round pick could be a part of the deal too. we want tatar back though, need me some tuna.</div></div>
Suzuki or Caufield would be the only way to get the talks started. I would do Suzuki, Romanov, and a 2022 3rd for #2
