Tampa didn't give up their 5th. the 5th ANA got is also from EDM.
but does this signal that TB are sellers?

Looks like we were both right! 5th that can upgrade to a 4th if they win it all.

I was unaware of the NYR pipeline and its depth. I am starting to see why Schneider is so highly valued.

Othmann seems like a verbeek type of player.

After this season, Rangers will sign Schneider to a 2 yr bridge deal which coincides with Trouba's contract expiring in the same two year period. At that time, Rangers re-sign Schneider and he is a #2 RHD. Rangers pretty much see Schneider as a baby Trouba.</div></div>
Thanks for helping me understand. I guess I'm viewing it through the lens of a ranger team that is in "win-now" mode and needing to try and get over a CAR or FLA.

In all seriousness, When do you guys see Schneider being able to climb above Trouba or Fox? I get the love for him, but for where he's playing currently on the third pair, is there a conversation to be had that you can trade a third pairing D man (currently) to satisfy other needs for a team in a win now mode? There's no sarcasm here. Genuine curiosity.

I was trying to wrap my head around it. Obviously it becomes a lot less if you start removing things like Goodrow, but I guess what do they want do? We'll see. I highly doubt this is how it would go down, but was imagining the prices

ESPN model
I read this ESPN article and boy do they underestimate how much salary cap dollars cost. You are right in the Goodrow's contract will cost a lot to get rid of (1st and top prospect). Assuming Sykora is considered a top prospect (I wouldn't think so), that ESPN deal boils down to Laba and a 3rd to ANA for Vatrano and Henrique BOTH retained. Oof.
I have to imagine the total deal looks more blockbustery if it were to go down the way ESPN wants it to. It looks like a lot, probably because it is a lot.
NYR sends:
Goodrow, 2024 1st, Sykora (just to dump the 3.5 remaining years)
2nd round, 3rd for Henrique retained
Braden Schneider, 1st, Laba for Vatrano retained
Riley Nash (for Lindstrom and to dump a contract)
ANA sends:
Henrique retained
Vatrano Retained
Gustav Lindstrom (RHD 3rd pair "replacement")

Deadline Moves
I think that's a very fair offer for the ducks if they decide now is the time to trade Frankie. RH shot D, young. the 1st rd. Maybe ask for an additional 3rd/4th somewhere?
Although i feel the Stars should keep Hakanpaa and just be deep as hell for their run. Ducks already are taking back a roster player, no need for another unless it's an AHL player or whatever in this deal to make money work.

gibson trade partner from left field
Thanks! The more I thought about it, the more I liked it from a Columbus perspective. From a Ducks standpoint, I love Gibson but would love to see him happy as well. On paper, that is a very formidable CBJ team they would be assembling.
Gaudreau - Jenner - Marchenko
K. Johnson - Fantilli - Laine
Texier - Sillinger - Roslovic
Robinson - Kuraly - Olivier
Werenski - Severson
Provorov - Boqvist
Blankenburg - Gudbranson

Accelerating the process
from a ducks perspective, I like the PIT trade. I don't like the TOR trade. way too much given up and it's not necessary. Debrincat costed a 1, 2 and 3 at around the same cap number. also, taking murray's contract will lower the compensation package going back.

I thought about merzlinkins, but I'd think that'd be a great 1A 1B combo that I think the jackets wouldn't mind trying. They've got some contracts that will come off the books and the young stars dont need to be paid for a while, which is about the time when the goalies would expire

finishing out roster
I don’t think the ducks would, based on their timeline. Whether they should or not depends if you ask John gibson. They do need a road for all their D prospects to go though. I don’t think they’ll block it by adding a marquee defensemen. Gudas signing is a little different as he is a bottom pair guy that will add toughness and won’t block any kids from progressing.

Big tough guy that can be part of the rotation for a team that lacked any sort of real physical presence especially in front of their own net. I'd welcome the move.
