Good trade for Ducks. Didn't think they would resign both players. And, they get a first round pick. We'll see how Henrique and Carrick both play in Edmonton.

I love the fit, but I dont love the cost. Henrique will fit in very well in Edmonton and gives them some great depth up front. Plus, they fulfilled their quota of adding another former Leaf in Sam Carrick.

I dont love that Anaheim used their final retention slot of Carrick, but this was the right move for them. Getting a first here was huge. The Ducks definitely won the deal, but I still really like it for the OIlers. Ill happily cheer on Henrique, hope he gets his chance at a Cup

Tampa is last team I would think enclined to retain salary for a low pick. What am I missing here!?

Edit.: Ok, a lot of LTIR money, but since when TB doesn't use every cent of their capspace to contend?

EDM gets some much needed forward depth, Henrique fits the bill in our middle 6 and Carrick can fight and hit for our VGK and LAK match ups.
First time Holland has moved a first for a rental, fingers crossed it's worth it.

This might be the Oiler's only move. Not sure if this was the best one to make.

I feel like EDM should have went after Hanifin, Seeler or Walker instead of Henrique. However this is better than nothing and McDavid/Draisaitl/Henrique/McLeod might be the best center depth in NHL.

Good for ANA getting a 1st for Henrique

Good for TBL getting an asset for a potential trade as lack of assets are a bigger problem than cap space for them.

Overall, fair deal.

A late first and couple middling late picks for a heavily retained very strong two-way middle 6 player having a career year on pace for over 50 points playing for one of the worse teams in the league while also receiving a solid depth centre who only boosts the oilers centre depth. Win oilers.

So Tampa is retaining $1.4M just to upgrade their 5th to a 4th? WTF

Tampa didn't give up their 5th. the 5th ANA got is also from EDM.

but does this signal that TB are sellers?

Best guess is that they already have their moves set and are just using excess cap space. A 4th is really cheap so maybe the retention market for 3rd party brokers is flooded and teams are taking less to be one of the few who get picks.

What you think is there coming D-man trade too from EDM? I thought they would use they first round pick to d-man. I like that EDM was able to add Carrick in trade. That was awesome adding. Many times those fourth liners make a difference when serie go to game seven.

So agree with you. I didnt wait this either from Tampa. Why to help team who you could see in Stanley Cup playoffs (in this case in Finals) Maybe Tampa dont think they will be in Stanley Cup finals this year or they dont think EDM will be in there, but this is strange.

Hefty price for Henrique- good deal for Anaheim, Tampas involvement is a surprise. The small retention on Carricks contract is odd...I guess they dont expect to move out anymore salary.

First time ever that Holland has traded a 1st for a rental. Obviously he was under pressure from ownership to do so.

I'm guessing this moves McLeod up to the 2nd line with Draisaitl.

Sam Carrick + a 7th for a 5th that could turn into a 4th is fair.

Henrique for a late 1st is fair.

Tampa wins for turning a 7th round pick from six years ago into a 4th round pick.

About what we expected for a return. Good on the ducks for takin advantage of the center market to get a first rounder out of a third liner. Retaining on Carrick is unfortunate because that takes up a spot for a guy like vatrano.
I guess this is okay for Tampa and it definitely helps Edmonton out here.
