Still don't think Nashville needs to take on another aging winger though that would take a spot away from one of the promising young kids.

Considering we have Livingstone and Carrier and Lauzon all fighting with Fabbro for the last 2 D spots we can afford to move him for a 1st which can be packaged in with another deal because in 2025 Nashville would have 3 1sts.

I can't see it being top 5 with the offensive talent and then Saros in net it would be in the mid teens at best

Why would they be clearing cap space to add guys like ROR and Schenn long term if that were the case? Nashville seems like an ideal spot for WIlly, and it despite all the posturing he should come in at around 8 x 9.</div></div>
They are on team friendly deals at 4 years for ROR and 3 for Schenn to where if it's not working out then their contracts should be easy to move at the deadline or in an offseason.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Affectionate_Side_64</b></div><div>Fair enough, but it looks like they're trying to remain competitive while Josi is in his window. What about McDonagh and Saros for Willy (resigned at 8x9) and Brodie? Huge upgrade for the top 6 and you can let Askarov and Lankinen take over.</div></div>
Personally I wouldn't do it because the Preds have good young wingers but they have no true #1 Center coming up or in the team. If you can leverage Saros for draft capital or someone they believe can be a #1 center that is what you move Saros for. 8x9 for Nylander going into his mid 30's at that price doesn't do it for me.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Affectionate_Side_64</b></div><div>You can make the 1-1 whatever you want it to be...
Nylander (resigned as I may have failed to mention) - Saros (Toronto)
Samsonov - McDonagh (Toronto)
Brodie - Lauzon (Toronto)
Liljegren - Novak (Close call)
Jarnkrok - Parssinen (Nashville)
That's a completely arbitrary way of determining the trade value.</div></div>
Ok even though it's done position for position. The only 2 true value pieces for this deal are Nylander and Saros and honestly that could be a 1-1 deal that only Toronto accepts. Nashville trading Saros will need to set them up for the future not get them a winger who will want $10million/ year.

Leafs Flames
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Affectionate_Side_64</b></div><div>Samsonov clearly has value so maybe that's the disconnect here. He was a top 10 goalie last year at 25 years old and is a former first rounder. He posted the same save percentage as Saros and had a better GAA. Obviously he played on a better team but that's not nothing. He's also an RFA which means you'll have someone who can form a solid tandem with Askaraov that you'll be able to trade down the road, rather than having Askarov be stuck in the shadow of Saros only to have Saros walk for nothing. I think TImmins and Robertson have a lot of potential but you're right that they're not sure things, I just don't think you're going to get a sure thing like Knies, he's not even in the discussion.</div></div>
Robertson can't even stay healthy enough to play 50 games between the NHL and AHL in a season. He has lost more of his value than you think. Timmins is again a bottom pair defenseman on the Nashville roster that is already has 3 bottom pair defenseman. Samsonov like you said is coming off a career year so he will want to be paid accordingly but Nashville doesn't need to do that because of having Askarov in the pipeline and Lankinen as a backup who is more than capable of being a stop gap starter. Nashville is not a contender so they don't need to have a win now goalie especially if they trade Saros, Saros makes them a bubble playoff team because he can steal 15 games a season on his own with his **** defense he had last season. Nashville needs to think about the future and getting prospects/players that can help them in the next 2 years mainly down the middle.

Nashville declines this. If they move on from Saros theyll want someone like Sillinger or Johnson to be the centerpiece coming back.

We have done the Jarnkrok experiment we know hes a bottom 6 player.
Below is the 1-1 for with who is losing the deal in ( )
Jarnkrok- Novak (Nashville)
Brodie- Mcdonaugh (Nashville)
Liljegren- Lauzon (Toronto)
Samsonov- Saros ( Big Loss for Nashville)
Nylander- Parssinen (Big Loss for Toronto)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Affectionate_Side_64</b></div><div>Feedback is welcome but let's not get carried away. Maybe replace the picks with a 1st, seems reasonable.</div></div>
That is reasonable. Robertson is in no way a top prospect anymore so he has minimal value. Samsonov has no value let alone a contract, Nashville doesn't need him because they have Askarov in the pipeline who could come up if we did move Saros. Timmins is a bottom pair defenseman who probably has the most value out of the 3 players listed. So you are sending 3 players with very little value and 1 1st round pick for a top 5 goalie in the league. Realistic offer for Saros should be a Proven top 6 player not saying super star but proven 2nd line guy. Knies and 1st and 3rd.

Even with another defenseman moving they don't have room for Girard because he's top 4 and we don't have room for top 4.

You are correct. If we are trading Saros we need a player like Holtz or Mercer coming back. I know Mercer is a big name compared to Holtz cause his NHL experience but it would drastically reduce the price overall that the devils would need to pay.

Question for Preds Fans
He is projected to be either the 2C or 3C this year. He was a college kid that honestly just couldn't do wrong last season much like Jeannot had the year prior. I don't see him being a 70 point guy in his career.
