Quoting: Billy316

i think it would take improving their team to do it and this deal doesnt do that today .

Gallagher ,Petry ,Kulak ,2nd and a 3rd for Chabot and Ryan
this would give them depth on their RW with Stone and Gallagher both capable of hitting 30 goals , Petry to sure up your RD and add PP Production , Kulak to give you a LD with NHL experience and two picks .

Chabot's a legit LD and barring injuries piling up on him has a long career ahead of him so you'll need not only a big name player but likely two as by trading Chabot OTT is committing to a full rebuild which will set them back a year or two .

That package still isn't worth giving up Chabot. Barring injuries, as you said, he's going to be a long-time NHLer and very likely be an eventual Norris candidate. Petry would be a nice piece to have to play with Chabot, not someone to get back for him.

Gallagher also isn't that great. It helps us now, but we don't need that kind of help now. We have a ridiculous amount of middle & bottom 6 forwards ready in the next couple of seasons and a literal log-jam at centre.

Kulak as a LD with experience is entirely unnecessary. We have Boro as a gritty vet on the left, with young puck-movers in Chabot & Lajoie, Wolanin too if you want to count him as well.
tl;dr ...It's not worth it to give up Chabot for anything right now. He's one of the pieces we're building around in this rebuild.

Quoting: jpozz1996

Tanev >> Ceci; Gagner still has potential as a 3rd liner for sure I do not know why Benning sent him down. And ya essentially Formenton cause of Ryan. However, I think with Tkachuk and the overload of young centres, Formenton can be worth getting rid off because I do not think he's ever going to be more than a 3rd line LW. Tanev is still young and likely would resign in OTT long term and provide stability on the right side...Anderson seems to be a better win now option than Allen who is S T R U G G L I N G in STL. If STL gets a stable goalie situation within the next 3 years (likely all that Anderson has left) then STL might be willing to pull trigger. In regards to the Boston trade, Acciari is no more than a Czarnik, and Donato could be a good 2/3 liner where as Dzingel is a bonafide 40 point guy on a week RW in BOS.

I think Andy is struggling just as much, he looked good before the Tampa and Buffalo games, but he's the third oldest goalie in the league at 37. Allen's 27(?). He's rock solid when the defence doesn't defecate all over the ice, but I don't think he can keep doing 60 games a season for the next 3 years until he's 40. I think he'd be a fantastic backup to Allen if he can find his game and take on most of the workload. I also disagree with the Formenton trade because we don't exactly have a need for Gagner as a 3C (Duchene - Tierney - Pageau/Smith/White) and we could package Formenton with another asset and potentially pick up someone better than Tanev. (Seriously, Vancouver needs him more than we do.)

Thanks for the evaluation, btw. I know nothing of Donato and Acciari, I've only heard about them (probably from Boston fans) that they were future Top6 guys in the next couple of years. Dzingel would absolutely put up 40-50+ points with Krejci and DeBrusk.
