CBJ Playoff Push
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ajp_18</b></div><div>I’m pretty sure none of the teams are making these trades. I don’t think Columbus is going to trade Savard or Milano till the offseason and I doubt Vegas trades Tuch for him. Atkinson isn’t going to be traded and Nashville wouldn’t trade Arvidsson for him.
Also you’re lines are way off...
Korpisalo is stop hurt, Texier is out indefinitely last I read so he won’t be back until the playoffs or later and Gavrikov is a top 4 D... not a healthy scratch.</div></div>
I know they have a ton on injuries, just wanted to see what team could look like when mostly healthy.

CBJ Playoff Push
my thinking was that both are having a bit of a down year, and NSH could use a bit of a shake up. Atkinson scored 40 goals last year. Agree about the age difference and contract value, but could argue that Atkinson is a lesser risk in short term. What would CBJ need to add? They likely are not giving up any more picks.

Yes, this is going to be a bad deal by the end of the contract, but if you're WSH you realize that your window is right now and and for a couple of more years. Ovi, Backstrom and Holtby are not getting younger. Do as much as you can while you have them.

Honestly, for me it goes: Hyman >>> Kapanen > Johnsson.
One of Kapanen or Johnsson goes before Hyman.

Moving Ceci's contract to allow your other trades is not worth the above losses.

Changed a bunch of things, included a trading Johnson instead of Kapanen, Hamonic signed instead of DeMelo, and Gauthier at 4C.

Likely out of the Leafs price range. You can count on Reilly, Dermott, Holl, Sandin and Liljegren to take 5 spots next year. I imagine that you need one decent RHD, but probably wouldn't spend more than $3m in it. I would consider Hamonic at 3 or 4 years @ 3.5m, but I think he will go for more.

- I think its generous to Anderson to say Anderson = Johnsson
- Yes, Jones > Reilly, but certainly not at the expense of Nylander and a 2nd. Not even close.
Honestly, I think the leafs D will be JUST FINE next year even without Muzzin or Barrie. Their patience with Sandin and Liljegren is going to pay off, and they should have some cash to spend on a veteran that we cost much less than Muzzin or Barrie in both AAV and term. My ideal leafs defence next year is:
Reilly - Holl
Dermott - Liljegren
Sandin - Solid RHD Vet
Pairings can be debated, but I think that could be solid.

Also why are you spending 2 million on a 4th line center? Tavares and Matthews should be playing 40+ minutes a game</div></div>
Soderberg can play on PK as well and move up to 3rd line center if Kerfoot goes to wing. I think you could get a lot of value out of him at $2mil.

On a sidenote, how bad are the next five years looking for SJS. Oooof... So many bad contracts from Karlsson, Burns, Jones, Vlasic and no 1st rounder (which will end up being top 5 likely). At least they didn't sign Pavelski to the contract he ended up getting, although they would have been better signing him and not doing the whole Karlsson thing. Genuniely don't know how they get out of those contracts.

So is his cap hit 6.9 or 7.5? (honest question). Even if it's 7.5 mil per year, I don't think that changes my argument very much.
