Boeser divisional trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>Depends on how he performs on the "training camp."
He was supposed to be a regular NHL D this year.</div></div>
So hypothetically if his injuries are behind him as a Vancouver fan hows the value? Having a guy like that and opening some cost control / cap space for boeser

Boeser divisional trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>Both of their potential is a question mark due to injuries. Välimäki has played below 50 games in 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons combined, Juolevi just slightly over that.
And btw if CGY uses Välimäki in this year's playoffs, he needs to be protected. That'd make this his second professional year, which means the next year would be his third and thus he wouldn't be exempt from being picked anymore.</div></div>
I was aware of that but as valamaki hasn’t played at all this year and flames picked up an additional 2 defencmen at the deadline the chances of him playing are very slim even with Hamonic sitting out

Boeser divisional trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>Legit Välimäki'd be the second finnish potential but injury riddled defenseman in Vancouver...they also have Juolevi in there you know.
All things considered, I don't think they're that interested without 1st being included.</div></div>
Fair point but valamaki is still projected as a very high potential and reality is boeser is also a worry with his health as well. Joulevi is closer to the side of a depth defencman at this point where valamaki’s potential is still quite high. The benefit for Vancouver would also be that they wouldn’t have to protect valamaki in the expansion draft

Honesty I haven’t put a lot of thought into boeser until this as there was really never any reason to consider it. What would you offer? This was more of a testing the waters Post

2 years is a lot. It’s not like it’s the trade deadline. He’s a ppg elite playmaker perenial all star. Real gms see the value that they can accomplish in 2 years with a guy like Gaudreau

Flames say no but it’s a lot better offer than flames fans are used to seeing. Most people write off 2 years of Gaudreau like its the trade deadline and they get him for a few games.

You won’t get the chance to sign him for that low. Flames will have a deal in place to not qualify him then re-sign him to a lower than qualifying $ amount (prob around $1mil). Jankowski has a bad year last year but the whole team underperformed. Take last year out and he had back to back 15 goal seasons and 30ish pts and is very good on the PK. Not bad value for a $1mill player. Flames won’t let that walk for nothing

RHD for Hanifin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dzmets</b></div><div>I think that Buffalontakes that trade but it is by no means a steal. Hanafin is a very similar player to Miller. He tends to get overrated because of where he was drafted. He had a very good year in 18-19, but the rest of his career he has been a below average 2nd pair defenseman without alot of physical abilities but not very good underlying numbers</div></div>
Buffalo absolutely wins this trade.
Hanifin is the better player (not saying it’s a massive gap but he is definitely better)
Hanifin has the better Contract
Hanifin is the younger player
Hanifin has progressed every year in the league (minus last year which his defensive partner took a large step back)
Flames absolutely walk away from this trade

Who wants Lucic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>masterjuddi</b></div><div>Maybe holding onto him for the expansion is the best move? I could see SEA wanting a guy like Lucic for his contract (getting to the cap floor) and maybe for his style of play. Fans love to see a monster human destroying opponents in their home barn. I would love Lucic on the jets at 1.5 mill in the bottom 6</div></div>
That would be the dream but the reality is if the flames have to expose a player like Gio or backlund etc...would they really take lucic over them?

Neither did Hughes. 7 goals and 20 pts? Yeesh ....does that mean Hughes is only worth a 3rd rounder

Who wants Lucic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>masterjuddi</b></div><div>I was honestly gonna take a shot at this, but 3 years at 6 mill for Lucic is possibly the worst value in the NHL.
If the Flames want to get rid of him and not retain salary they'll have to put in a nice kicker and it would have to be a team that can take the hit or another bad (but shorter) contract comes back.
Maybe Subban for Lucic? Calgary adds something? idk</div></div>
I assume Calgary would have to add a kicker or take a salary back. Outside of lucic’s dollar figure and length of contract he also has a full NMC (most people have speculated that lucic would waive it for the expansion draft so as not to have to protect him but that’s not a 100% for sure thing.
That’s why I wanted to see what other teams would look for because as flames fans it’s easy to say lucic to team x for a pick and a prospect but I want to see what other sides look for

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>I don't think they will get caved. White's already a few seasons into his NHL career, and Norris and Brown are both NHL ready as is. They have vet Cs to surround them already with Anisimov and Tierney. They also have guys like Bobby Ryan and Connor Brown who are great veterans to have around those guys.</div></div>
Veteran does not equal mentor / leader / good guy for your players to be around .
Bobby Ryan is on the back 9 of dealing with his personal demons. Good for him I’m glad but he’s not really in any shape to mentor young players
Tierney is invisible on the ice and off.
It’s been documented the DJ smith doesn’t trust anisimov That much. He’s a decent player but not a leader
White has potential but with the departures of Duchene and pageau he took a step back (hence needing some real veteran support)
Backlund has been an assistant captain, a very vocal player a leader for the team on the ice and off (super involved in charitable work) THIS is the type of leader you would need
