Oilers Opening Lineup
Most reports are that Barrie wants a long term deal & the oilers aren’t interested in that.
That’s the one consolation we get for being swept. No Barrie next year :)

Healthy Nick Robertson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafs_Storm</b></div><div>Yeah, wrong click. Robertson should be on the Tavares line, Thornton should be with Matthews. The trick here is deployment. Matthews right now is still facing 1st/2nd lines, while Kerfoot's line is taking on those d-zone draws and secondary matchups. This means that Robertson will get generous zone deployment against lesser opponents (right now Tavares is starting over 70% of his shifts in the o-zone instead of around 50% like the prior two years), and it will be against 3rd lines and 2nd/3rd d-pairs. To get his confidence up, playing him with Tavares/Nylander against non-elite competition should help him adjust. Tavares and Co. can cover for his rookie mistakes against lesser opponents, and his shot and skill mixed with his work ethic should complement that line well on the forecheck.
For Sandin 3rd pair vs Taxi Squad, that's just a personal choice. I think Sandin is NHL ready, and frankly, I'd love to see Liljegren get more than 10 minutes of TOI this season in a few games, but definitely seems like Keefe is riding his top 4 as a top 4, and the remaining dmen are getting minimal 5on5 ice time. Also, with Lehtonen not in the line-up,I'd much rather Sandin be QB on PP2 with Tavares and Nylander over Brodie.</div></div>
I still don’t agree,but whatever,you have your opinion,and I have mine.

While I agree, it doesn't matter. Free wallets will always play because the Leafs' would far rather continue to ruin their own D draft picks then screw up their pipeline of consistently terrible free wallet Ds.

Final Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafs_Storm</b></div><div>I think Robertson would be more likely to take the 3rd line role than 4th, and considering who's on the 3rd line vs who's in the top 6, if Vesey stumbles out of the gate, I fully expect Robertson to move into 3rd line and Hyman to move up to L3, or if that 3rd line clicks, robertson swaps straight for Vesey to Tavares line. Robertson-Tavares-Nylander looks damn fun to me.</div></div>
Keefe always ran a checking line with the Marlies. Malholtra coming on board hinted that the Leafs would try to piece together a checking line. So with Hyman bumped out of the Top 6, gotta think the purpose is to keep a checking line going.
4th line with Spezza and Simmonds wouldn't be the worst place for him to start. That would be a decent 3rd line on most teams. I doubt the top 6 gets the same amount of min this year with the condensed svhed, so 4th line will get played more than last year.
I could see Robertson in top 6 eventually, if he plays well or Vesey/Thornton stumbles.

Then you have 3 stud d-pairs with good puck movers and good defensive guys on every pair.</div></div>

Disagree, no use for Braun. Especially at that price. I like your idea to take Schneider and move lily... I would move him for Cernak probably 4 x 3m. Walks him to ufa but leafs reap the benefits now.

Yup young players on the leafs are never going to get better. It just never happens, like when Matthews didn't get better, or Marner or Nylander. None of them got better so Liljegren and Dermott and Sandin and Lehtonen have no chance of getting better.

Development Breeds Championships
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafs_Storm</b></div><div>I don't disagree, but I wanted to make this work without bringing in Gudas or Brodie or Hamonic or Demelo, as those are the guys always linked in these to Toronto, and while i don't disagree with the options, they are almost always overpaid and I didn't want to get in that debate. My main reasoning was this: Rielly/Muzzin/Holl are playing. If dermott is back, he's playing. I wanted Liljegren to get NHL reps, and that left one spot left. I am fully for getting somebody to fill that spot at 2-3M, but I'd wager the Leafs expect and will give Lehtonen every chance to make the roster, and with that I kept it this way. Only other way that also keeps Sandin down and give Lehtonen a spot is moving dermott so Lehtonen plays 3LD. Which while I like dermott, Im fine with that if it has to happen .</div></div>
makes sense and i could see them doing this i just really hope they go out and get a RD

It makes sense but would rather keep that pick since it will be a “late first” and sign someone like Haula for cheaper for that 2C spot.

Ceci in the Top 4 per Babs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafs_Storm</b></div><div>Spezza is a center, but Shore is a better player at this point of their careers. I expect Spezza will be Center on the line due to his faceoffs, but he has played RW while Shore was always C so kept it simple.
No idea til camp plays out who the backup is, but Hutch is 50K cheaper so savings between the two are minimal.
Hutton is rumoured, if not then I put Harpur in.
Marty I think will be used in the AHL, it's been shown he can be waived and not claimed. Holl has issues, but I think with Dermott out he will get a chance this season.
For Marner, a 5 year deal is worst case scenario for Toronto. It lines him up with Matthews and Nylander, while maintaining a high cap hit. With Aho (who is as good or better) signing at 8.454x5, leverage has been gained by Toronto. I expect it's either 3 years at a reduced hit, 8 or less, and 6 makes sense to keep his number in the 9s while lining expiry up with tavares, which is the year after nylander and matthews expire.</div></div>
First I wanna say I appreciate you not spazing out and taking time to actually replay with reasoning, it is nice. ha
Everything you replied to is fair and could very well happen.
