Yepp, no one is willing to screen the goalie either. Makes the opposing goalie have an easy time seeing the puck. This staff needs to go and we bring in a tougher coach. Just my opinion.
Wash, rinse and repeat from the Dallas game.

They are separate interests....not Mitts for a goalie.
LOL Adams has worried me for a while.
Don't want another Tim Murray but try and improve the team off last season which Clifton and Johnson weren't enough.
When 21 and 28 were brought back I figured they were gonna be in trouble.

He plays both wings...there's room for a 30 goal scorer. Maybe a line of Savoie centering Benson and Boldy. Moot point bc Minn doesn't make that trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>That's a fair point, but I haven't heard any indication that the Sabres weren't going to pay him. I'd rather flip him for much needed help on defense- right shot, defense first, physical, middle pair, add if necessary to get the right guy. Mittelstadt represents a good player that could be moved for help, and since the Sabres last 5 first round picks were used on forwards, there should be some elc players coming to help replace him. The Sabres aren't in a cap crunch, it's not like they can't afford to give him 7 per. Of course the Sabres are in no position to move him for futures, to me it's a no brainer- trade him for something specific to help immediately, or sign him. I'm not buying what Friedman is selling here, it makes it sound like the Sabres are desperate to get anything back, so they don't have to sign him, which I'm not buying.</div></div>
According to Andrew Peters the Sabres are shopping Mitts hard....that was reported on Spectors Hockey. Peters didn't say who his source was but said Adams is looking for a goalie bc supposedly they don't trust the 3 we have.

I would do the Minn trade but there's no way Minn does it. Boldy is far ahead of Mitts in his development. Mitts has his good points and if they aren't going to pay him this is the time when his value is at it's highest and the best time to trade him. Probably a slight overpayment

According to Andrew Peters and brought out by Spector's Hockey
REPORT: SABRES ACTIVELY SHOPPING MITTELSTADT
AFTER THE WHISTLE: Andrew Peters said Friday that he’d heard “from a very reliable source” that Buffalo Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams is “shopping Casey Mittelstadt hard” because he doesn’t want to pay the 25-year-old forward.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Mittelstadt is slated to become a restricted free agent with arbitration rights on July 1. He’s in the final season of a three-year contract with an average annual value of $2.5 million. The versatile forward enjoyed a 59-point breakout performance last season and currently leads the Sabres in scoring with 42 points in 50 games.
Peters’ source didn’t know what Adams’ asking price would be for Mittelstadt but indicated that he’s looking for a goaltender. “They don’t trust the three that they have,” said Peters.
SPORTSNET: On Friday’s “32 Thoughts” podcast, Elliotte Friedman talked about Mittelstadt’s contract situation. He believes Mittelstadt would not be happy not to get a lucrative new contract when several other teammates did. “If you’re not going to pay him, you almost have to move him.”

Thread:
Mittelstadt goes Wild
There are so many variables in the Sabres trading Mittelstadt but starting with this trade scenario I'd have to say the Sabres would have to be nuts not to take it, I think it is an overpayment on Minnesota's part and I can't see GMBG offering it. The 1st and 2nd give the Sabres trade capital to fill other holes mainly a RHD.
Getting Rossi still gives the Sabres flexibility at center in case one of their centers goes down or none of their prospects can make it at center in the NHL. As <a href="/users/AntiAnalytics" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@AntiAnalytics</a> pointed out what a long term deal might look like, do the Sabres want to go go that high even with the hike in cap next year. I think the Sabres like Mitts enough to want to keep him but at what cost is the question.
The other part for me is Cozens...last year was a breakout season for him but he seems to have drifted back to 2 yrs ago when he had great chances but couldn't bury the puck. Last year he buried those chances on his way to a 31g season. A consistent Cozens and what Mitts can be signed for helps determine what happens with Mittelstadt in my mind.
My guess is the Sabres sign him long term but if this trade were on the table I can't see them turning it down.

Honestly it's more about the future than just this year, I think for a 1st to be involved there has to be an extension in place. Maybe at the TDL a contender will include a 1st bc it will be a low 1st but the Sabres will be drafting mid pack to top 10 again at this point and Adams wouldn't do that.

Kevyn Adams worst GM in the NHL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>Well there’s A LOT of bs to unpack here, but here we go
<em>1- “Somewhere near 50% of this team is from Botterill”</em>
Acquired via trade were: Tage, pick that drafted R.Johnson, Jokiharju & Skinner
He drafted: Cozens, R.Johnson, Dahlin, Samuelsson, Mitts & UPL
That’s 9/23 which is less than 40% (39%)
And if i were to use all 29 guys who have played for us this season, that % drops down to only 31%
I can see why you’d exaggerate to try & make your point,
but it’s really so flimsy that it just won’t help all that much
I’ll give u a chance to admit your wrong about that before i bother to rip apart the rest of your nonsense</div></div>
Count Byson which which makes it 43% but that's the point you want to debate? How many years of Dahlin Thompson Cozens etc do you want to waste? You'll have another Eichel situation on your hands in no time soon. You can't build an entire team off the draft without adding the the vets in there...how did Tampa continue with their dynasty...always added that intangible at sometime during the season. Like anything else age catches up to everyone even the good ones. Pittsburgh is now showing that also. As I said, it's not about emptying the cupboard but making that one big trade and some smaller ones could do wonders.
Detroit is a prime example, look how their roster is built, draft, some trades and signings. They've added vets to compliment their youth. I'm sure you would agree Buffalo was ahead of Detroit after last year.
When you miss the playoffs by a couple of points and you stand pat but for 2 D-man who have been your 2 worst as it is where is the improvement. Injuries have had it's roll but when you had a number of players who had career years and aren't continuing into this year (maybe Skinner has) you have a problem. This team is in trouble anyway you cut it and the GM hasn't done anything constructive to help them.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>Good post
Wish there was more of you, & less crybabies like Lenny54</div></div>
It's not about being a crybaby Mr Know It All...it's about this team taking the next step from last year...Adams did nothing to make that happen. Somewhere near 50% of this team is from Botterill, Adams has been given more than a fair chance to improve upon that and hasn't. Because we have all these #1 picks doesn't mean they will all be contributing to making this team a winner see Tyson Jost as an example who was 10th OA and is a 4th liner in and out of the lineup and on his 3rd team. Point is you don't want a Tim Murray and empty the cupboard but you want someone who will make the move when your team needs it. He has not made a major trade yet other than the 3 he was forced to make and had no choice but to do. He's left this team out to dry, even Cozens commented on how they get pushed around.
I understand it takes 2 teams to make a trade but has he really tried, he gives the same BS every interview "it's my job to make the call when someone is available". Come on, giving up a high prospect as part of a deal to get a proven vet that will help now and into the future isn't going to kill the pipeline. Mark my words at least half of these 1st rounders in the pipeline won't make it as top line forwards. We have invested in the core so it's time to get the players to continue to make the necessary progress especially since the core is made up of youngsters.

The thing you have to consider is Kevyn Adams won't part with his first round selections period...maybe a couple years down the road once they see where their progression has gotten. When one of Savoie and Kulich were mentioned when Meier was on the block Adams said no. I think they expect this to be Krebs breakout year so he isn't being moved. I don't see the Sabres doing much as far as trades go. They'll go the waiver wire once teams have their rosters set. I think the biggest mistake is if they don't acquire a decent goalie and put all the weight on a Levi & UPL duo besides carrying 3 goalies including Comrie and if they do they don't make the playoffs. It's too much to ask of a rookie goalie to carry the load in an 82 games schedule.

I agree but I don't think that is Adams mo, doesn't matter what you or I think...logically you have to look at what Adams has done or said. He has stuck to his plan to a tee. Maybe next year he deviates but I think with this deep draft and 3 picks in the first 45 he will continue to stock the cupboard. Maybe he tries to move up or back into the first round but I don't see him parting with prospects just yet. He brought back Okposo and Girgensons for christ sakes, is that a sign of him trying to improve the bottom 6 or the PK?

Adams isn't Tim Murray...before he trades a Rosen/Ostlund he is going to see how they progress, especially in Rochester. I don't think we will see much change in the roster from last year as evidenced by bringing back Okposo and Girgensons smfh. He'll find a partner for Power probably on the cheap and an experienced goalie willing to sign for 2 years to bridge the team to the Levi era. I hardly think this years 1st is in play other than to move up and I don't know if the teams from 6-10 would be willing to move down anyway.
