I’m starting to hate these Miller trades..all the picks plus Marino and Kappy usually. He’s a one year rental. No way he gets that kind of return unless he comes with an extension.
Yes, he’s really good and had a great season, but one year rentals just don’t bring back that kind of return. And it will be less at the deadline. Probably a late 1st and prospect.
Cunucks fans are gonna be pissed when it’s one or the other. They are gonna get a 1st, a 2nd and a probably a mid round pick. Or Marino/Pettersson and Kappy. And maybe a mid round pick. Not both. Unless he comes with an extension.

They tendered Kappy. Gave him his QO. He’s gonna get signed or his traded. Most likely signed.

I’m just hoping the Pens sign Larsson and Milano. Move one of Pettersson/Dumoulin and I would take that team all day.
That 4th line defensively would be tough. Larsson -Blueger -McGinn. And Archibald as depth too.
Give me:
Guentzel - Sid - Rust
Zucker -Geno -Rakell
Milano -Carter -Kappy
Larsson -Blueger -McGinn
Matheson-Letang
Dumoulin-Marino
POJ-Rutta
Friedman-Ruhwedel
The only reason I’d prefer moving Pettersson over Dumo is that Dumo is on an expiring contract. Pens need the cap space next season from Zucker, Dumo and Jarry’s expiring contracts.. sign a big time goalie.

The Arizona trade..lol.
Crouse was a 20 goal scorer last year. And then he puts him on the 4th line. Like look, he’s a 4th liner, no big deal. Engvall and NAK are better. You aren’t trading a 25 year old, 20 goal scorer(on a bad offensive team too).

Larsson never signed, something wrong must have happened during negotiations but he is the type of bottom-six player the Penguins would need, a defense minded forward.
Yes I know Puustinen is a top-six type player. In my roster description you see that I had him traded because management seems keen on keeping Kapanen (which is a mistake). If/when they do come up, Poulin and Puustinen should start on the 3rd line. I also do not think Nylander is as ready to play in Sullivan's system as people think but we will see.</div></div>
Less than 1% chance any of these trades happen like this anyways. The only thing that is out there being reported by insiders is that the Pens might be interested in moving a D-man. Meaning one.

Cool. I disagree with your roster construction and trades.
Guentzel with Sid and Rust is the right move. Another 30 something with Geno and Rakell isn’t.
I would prefer it to be Rakell/Geno/Kappy. Rakell was a LW his entire career anyways(except some games coming over to Pgh). I would use a OConnor -Carter - Zucker 3rd line to start the season.

Without a doubt.
Gudbranson just got 4.5 million. Holl is less than half his salary. If that's the market for a big RD that should never play above the 3rd pair, how can anyone rationally argue Holl has no value? At worst he's a bottom pair defenceman making 2 million but has been successful playing 20+ minutes a night. I definitely would be terrified if Gudbranson was playing 20 minutes a night. He's such a pylon but he's big and he hits everyone, you can find guys that do the same for way less. So the market is set. Holl definitely has value at his price tag</div></div>
Cool…I disagree..and I’m quite familiar with Kerfoot and Holl.

I think
Hextall has me in doubt with the younger guys buy adding Archibald, Caggiula and talk of retaining Kapanen. Too many bottom-six bodies to compete, I don't like the odds....For the record though, I do want to see Puustinen starting the season on the roster and Poulin coming in later hopefully midseason.</div></div>
Cause you are giving up the Pens cap space next season and a young, 25 year old, RHD. Something the Pens are lacking and u are trading it for something they have in spades. Older players. You need to surround them with younger, faster players. Not another of the same. Plus giving up Puustinen and a 3rd.
And he’s not a big improvement over Zucker at all. Zucker had a string of bad luck injuries in Pittsburgh. Was ok when he was healthy and never even got a chance to settle in and get in a routine and chemistry with a line.
Zucker 23 goals and 37 points in 83 games with the Pens(.45 PPG). Saad 23 goals in 49 points in 78 games last season(.61 PPG). Zucker 5 more games. The same amount of goals. It’s a slight improvement at best.
I think Caggiula and Larsson are on two-way deals. Just up and down 4th line depth. You can’t play on Sully’s 4th line unless you play the PK. It’s why they sent OConnor down last season. To get time on the PK. Puustinen, Poulin, and Nylander aren’t 4th line players. They are mid 6 or top 6 or bust.

Good luck with that. I don’t see it. Like u said, I think that’s why he wasn’t moved already. They don’t want to add assets for an expiring contract. Just wait it out a year. Or check the temperature again at the deadline.

I don’t understand either of these trades. I wouldn’t mind Saad but his term sucks. Saad will be 30 in 3 months. Pens don’t need another guy they are paying into their mid and late 30’s.
And Dumo is on an expiring contract. Him and Zucker are the Pens cap space next season and u want to throw that away.
Im beginning to think the Pens plan on one of OConnor, Poulin or Pusstinen or maybe two being ready this season. Or maybe even Nylander.

It’s so funny, I once did a ACGM trading Pettersson for a 3rd round pick and all the teams fans said “it’s a bad contract”.
I then did another retaining just 750K and making Pettersson contract 3.25M. All their fans were ecstatic. Saying “we accept”, “good deal”. He’s making 4M per. That .025 is just 25K..lol.

Surprisingly, I do like the Matt Murray move. I’m from Pittsburgh though. I’ve seems Murray’s upside and it’s not elite but it’s close to it. Yes, he’s was bad for the Sens and at the end of tenure in Pittsburgh. But the talent is there.
Murray >>>> Mrazek. And imo, Murray = Campbell as well. I think Murray gonna surprise people this year.
Grab him where u can if u play fantasy hockey. That was my 1st thought when I saw the trade. I’m grabbing Murray in both my fantasy hockey leagues if I can.

Rookie contracts are so valuable. Very few teams trade an elite rookie, still on his rookie contract, with that kind of team control left.
Thachuk might be the better player right now but their contracts make Stutzle much more valuable.
Look at the cap room u got just by adding Stutzle instead of Tkuchuk.

I think Detroits rebuild is about close to over. The UFA signing this offseason shows they are ready to compete in my opinion.
They have one of the biggest and best prospect pools too. Those waves of prospects are gonna start coming through in a year or two.
Larkin, Raymond, and Seider look like pieces to build around. With Bertuzzi, Copp, and Hronek being nice complimentary pieces. Plus all those prospects that are gonna be coming through.
They should atleast be competitive this season.

Ya, I just don’t think it’s that easy like u said. Can “easily” just trade them. Not that easy. Especially with most teams cap strapped as is.
Again, I guess we’ll see. And again, the likelyhood of Sandin getting an offer sheet are low. Probably about 10%. But the narrative is out there that he might. And if he does, if he does, which again, is a very low possibility, I don’t see the Leafs matching it.
That’s my opinion with the things I’ve read backing the opinion. It’s not your opinion. It’s fine. We are just gonna keep repeating ourselves saying the same things in different ways. It’s not that serious. Have a good day!! I hope Sandin retires a Leaf.!!

I don’t understand why u would sign Kappy? He ‘s still just 25 and still has top line upside. And even if he goes to an arb hearing, he’s not getting more than 2M-2.25M per.
And I think the Pens go after Heinen in free agency. Something like 2-4 years around 1.75M-2M. A 3.5M-8M total contract.
You can see why they didn’t tender him a QO and did Kappy. You don’t want to get stuck in an arb hearing with a guy that scored 18 goals and played everywhere up and down the lineup. Kappy of the hand; just 11 goals.
