the only possible way
Bridge deal for Marner makes the most sense anyways. The cap floor is going up after the expansion and he'll still be an RFA in 2 years.

HAHAHAHAH LEAFS CANT SIGN MARNER
People who think Marner is still getting 10+ are delusion and by in to the media click bait headlines. If they want to use Matthews as a comparable whatever, that's their strategy but the Habs already set the market with an offer sheet. I've been saying this for two weeks, Marner will likely sign a bridge deal 2 years at 8M and re-negotiate as an RFA when the cap floor is higher after the expansion.
He won't sign somewhere else. Look at his Instagram page, its pretty much an endorsement page. You can't watch one leafs game without 2-3 Marner commercials per intermission. The kid is making bank.

Probably because Nylander is on a ridiculously good contract. I also think you under value the depth of Toronto's bottom 6 which is common for people who only follow headlines and not the teams minor system or camps.

Him and Toronto came to a verbal agreement to avoid arbitration. I've seen that in a few places. I think its likely both parties file and settle at a 1 year in the middle.

My Actual Prediction
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>The only thing I'd change is Mikheyev with Johnsson, I'd rather see a bigger body that can crash the net play with Matthews. Matthews is a shooter who creates a tonne of rebounds and Johnsson just doesn't get to the net enough to capitalize on that. On the flip side, Kerfoot is an excellent playmaker and giving him a pair of shooters in Kap and Johnsson, both with speed, will be a very good 3rd line option to send out against other 3rd lines.</div></div>
I agree, I've been watching a lot of video highlights on Mikheyev and he's the Russian Hyman with better hands. I think he would compliment the Matthews line really well. Having a Johnsson - Kerfoot - Kapanen line is a really scary 3rd line and will probably out score most third lines in the league.

Dump the garbage and deadline deal the FAs for picks Thats it
I don't think Edmonton is in a position to move their first round pick to dump Lucic like Toronto was to dump Marleau.
That's going to be a potential lottery pick again.

That's his only chip and he won't get it. Marner won't get an offer sheet because no one is going to pay that for a winger. If he decides to hold out on his services, that only hurts his stock even more. Also the term is a bigger issue than the money. I'm not worried.

After everything with the Aho offer sheet, I think Bergevin set the market for the RFA's this year and Marner will be paid under 10M.
Thank you Habs!

Centers and Wingers don't carry the same stock price. The responsibility and pressure a Center has will always cost more than a winger. Wingers are easy to replace.

Pretty sure Kerfoot was an important piece in that trade in order to replace the 3C. I don't see him being traded at all and it would be crazy for the Leafs to do so. Neither Shore or Spezza are 3Cs.

OK Ill bite on the Zaitsev rumour
Maybe there’s a plan beyond this year. Leafs rid of a contrAct and DJ Smith gets a RHD he’s familiar with. Leafs sign Ceci to a one year deal part of the “Dubas career revival” program with the Leafs. They ride the season out with him. Next year as Ceci, Muzzin and a few others contract expires the Leafs have cap space to make a push for Alex Pietreangelo who will be a UFA.
Of course this only works if Marner bridges for the rumoured 2x8 in anticipation of the cap floor increasing after the expansion.

I don't think the sweetner from the Leafs will be anything of significance. Zaitsev bonus will be paid by the Leafs so the salary the Sens will have to pay is just 3.9M and the AAV of 4.5 help you gets reach the cap floor. The media and this community really makes Zaitsev seem worse than he really is. Babs put him in a defensive Dman role and encouraged stretch passes. Under a new system you guys may get year 1 in the NHL Zaitsev plus the Zaitsev that played with team Russia at worlds. Leafs are getting Ceci, lets not pretend one team is upgrading more than the other here.

The LHD to RHD thing is over rated. You see a guy like Provorov and you take him every day of the week. Having a top RHD is just a luxury Babs wants. Look at the cup finals 80% of the D were all left handed.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>I highly doubt anyone sees him as an A Grade Prospect at 22 turning 23. He's not a late bloomer either, he's a talented player but with many holes in his game that keep him out of the NHL. I like Bracco and if the Leafs move Kapanen (who I think should be moved) then he could get a shot in the lineup, but I also think someone better defensively would be a better add for TO than Bracco. He's a PP specialist and the Leafs have 2 better versions of Bracco in Marner and Nylander.
If he has high value after this past season in the AHL, then he should be traded for defensive help. I just don't see Bracco ever emerging in TO.</div></div>
I don't believe he'll merge in Toronto either but he could slot on a handful of teams as the 2-3 RW and added powerplay time. He does have holes in his games but a lot of people who trade him in ARMCHAIR overlook that for whatever. I think he's good trade bait just not AS good as some people claim.
Me personally, I'm a fan of a Power Forward style of game. I'm excited to see how Yegor Korshkov game translates to North America.

Just relax everyone
Funny how you just posted this about Zaitsev, I've been just messing around with the 2020/2021 Leafs.
I would argue Zaitsev being a more serviceable Dman than Ron Hainsey and Morgs turned him into a +30 guy this year.
Giving Zaitsev 1 more year with a bigger role would elevate his stock and reduce his contract to 4 years. In addition with Muzzin coming off the books next year and the cap increasing again, it could open up 8.5M+ to sign Alex Pietrangelo as a UFA.

I think your missing the point of Bracco being added to trades.
He's in A grade prospect on a team already full of top end RW's. A lot of rebuilding teams or cap challenged teams would love to acquire a kid of Bracco's age and talents.
Do half the people utilize him properly in trades....not likely however he often comes up due to the depth we have at RW.
