Miles better? Are you on drugs? Liljegren isn't even half as good right now and Andersson is having a bad season

Why would MTL do this they don't want Elvis or Gudbranson. They certainly don't want to trade the Harris along with two 2nd round picks for them either.

Trying to explain to doubters that Monahan is worth a 1st is the same mundane task as explaining the merits of Ben Chiarot and the marketplace opportunity. It's an open market with 31 other teams bidding.
You think he aint worth it, fine, but deal with it because other teams want a low cost AAV, w/o trade protection center that wins draws and can cary a line to the tune of a 50 point pace.
He's been carrying Gallagher and Evans, two 4th liners yet produces. Teams see that and want that kind of depth not to mention that same depth carried Vegas to a Stanley Cup.
I'm sure if another UFA in William Carrier form Vegas was available he'd go for a 1st yet he has less than half of Monahan's point totals.

Another idea
Where’s the value for the Habs in that trade?
Here take our 3rd goalie and a player we don’t want or have room for and give us some stability in net/perfect mentor for our young guys and a veteran C on a low AAV

I mean it’s 30 games into an 8 year deal and is looking like it will probably be the worst contract offered so far in the cap-era, so probably. Three years of saving $4 million with Anderson and five years with 9-9.5 more to work with after that. A million or so in dead cap would be worth that to me.

1. team is young, some players had career years last year, KA didn't do much to improve the team, NHL has a book on some of our players
2. you can't have a nice coach and a nice captain someone in leadership has to have an edge.
3. I don't like this one- they are trying to get the coach fired

I was thinking about how often good goalies get traded while trying to sell Markstrom.
You think this year will be an exception? Lot's of need among contenders and some interesting names that might be available, such as Markstrom and Saros.
Lot's of interesting available options too.
The other thing I was thinking about, was the returns, I don't think goalies fetch a lot of value.

I actually like his play. Yeah the present bashing purely based on stats does fell like Lehky back when....
Usually snipers on a cold streak are invisible. Josh is physical, attacks the slot and get good looks. It shows great mental strength and reassures me he will get out of this slump sooner than later.
It is the fact he does get all those chances and post hits that makes it so frustrating ... and quite frankly just laughable at this point.
As for trading him, don't panic and sell low. Just go on with the season, it's not like if playoffs were the objective anyway. A Tom Wilson light at half the salary will be in demand eventually.

Campbell's buyout in June would cost $9m spread out over 6 years. Not horrible if it's your own bad contract that you handed out, but still probably costs more than a 1st and a 3rd if your the team trying to trade that contract away.

You double the amount of years left on the contract so 1.6 x 6 hypothetically the team trading for Campbell could hold onto him for a year to make the buy out 1.6 x 4 but 4 years is still a long time.
The team acquiring Campbell will need to be cap compliant at the time of the trade and then they could buy him out..so it still limits your trade partners.

Hawks easily decline. A single 1st isn't enough to move that contract. At least not to the Hawks.

Get ready to hear that it costs more to dump Campbell, 3 more years at 5M.
There will only be a handful of teams that can handle that contract, Chicago is one of them. I'm not convinced a late 1st round pick will be enough for a 5 Million AHL goalie.
This is my personal opinion but Edmonton doesnt really have any young guys I am that interested in. Maybe Holloway but other than that I dont think they have any top tier prospects.
