Next Year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MONSTER1974</b></div><div>Agreed that the trade for Kakko isn’t a good one.
I can see the CHI being a decent one. D-Vo would get plenty of opportunity in CHI to build up value and flip him at the deadline. I think MTL has to add value in this and retain 1M$ of his salary. Then CHI can retain on him again at the deadline, offering D-Vo at a (roughly) 1.7M$ cap hit to someone as a depth center with good faceoff abilities. Probably fetches you another 3rd rd pick.
The VAN pick being sent to MTL is likely going to be a late 2nd rd pick, so it’s almost like stepping back a few spots in the draft to get an NHL caliber dman. Works for both teams.</div></div>
Your assessment would be a good one if the Hawks were looking for a LD. Which they are not. They are loaded w/ young LD already. Harris would hold zero value in this deal to the Hawks since LD is not an organizational need in the least.

And this, folks, is why you don't slap a NTC on a 1-year trade-bait contract.

How would you make this trade more fair
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MONSTER1974</b></div><div>Why not take this a little further and try to pry Spencer Knight from them?
FLA has a couple of dmen starting the year injured so there’s a need here… and MTL is deep on D.
Could a package of Petry, 1st rd pick, and DeSmith for Knight be a doable trade?
FLA getting a 1st rd pick in this deal is also big because it gives them an asset to use at the deadline to make another acquisition for a playoff push since they don’t have a 1st rounder in ‘24.
The only thing that needs careful consideration is properly evaluating Knight to see if he is #1 caliber material. If you feel he is, you put a package like that together (definitely retaining salary on Petry, perhaps DeSmith too) and make the deal. If not, you scrap the idea.</div></div>
This is an interesting take. I know Florida really likes him and is happy he is back. I think it would take a touch more than this to get Knight, but the thought is there for sure. Why not go for it?

Adding Keller and Crouse, depending on the cost, would be quite something.
You still don’t have Farabee in the lineup. Is that an oversight, or is there a reason for it?</div></div>
He is second line RW. MTL doesn't need him though, just fantasy. Would prefer a right shot RW with a bit of size

Anderson has a M-NTC and Winnipeg is likely on that list, even if he could be inclined to waive it I seriously doubt he would as part of a PLD trade since they are really close friends.

I’m sure your trade proposal is fair value, but in no way does MTL take on Fleury’s contract with Price’s 10.5M$ cap hit. If SEA somehow ends up with Price, then “maybe” Flower could end up in MTL.</div></div>
Vegas is exempt from the expansion draft.

But why do that Byron trade? The difference between Allen and Primeau isn’t large, and Byron’s a better player than Glendening. By letting Seattle take Allen and not signing Glendening, you’re saving money while not making the team worse, and also not giving away Struble and a 2nd for no reason at all.
Also, there’s no chance LeGuerrier ends up with an ELC with the habs.

Projections Forwards
if Julien is rolling 3 lines like that, I don't see Evans getting 10-12 minutes at Center a game.
Also, I think they'll try Toffoli on LW and Roll Armia up and Byron down.
if that doesn't work, then they go with your lineup, assuming Byron returns to what he was.

My 2 season plan for the Habs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MONSTER1974</b></div><div>It's not that I'm down on him, it's that he's something that we have quite a bit of, and he has value. You don't get anything unless you give up value. I don't expect teams to throw A1 assets to the habs for Domi, but I would like to think he's got enough value that we could use him to unload Alzner's salary for cap space.</div></div>
Would you do anything else besides the moves suggested here? After offloading Alzner with Domi you've gotten almost 10 million in cap space that you aren't using. You've already signed one of the biggest UFAs. so you probably dont want to go shopping for big money on another 'star' UFA. So i don't see the point in offloading alzner and domi just to have capspace or save money. Just bury Alzner in the AHL and take the ~3.6M hit and keep Domi at ~6 million through the rest of his prime years.

Sabres with full Cap penality
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MONSTER1974</b></div><div>Obviously it's sarcasm... but there's a reason he was in the AHL all season. With Romanov joining the team next year, and Juulsen/Fleury pushing behing him, there's just no room for him on the roster. Why a team would give up an asset for a guy like this just doesn't make sense. Surely there's a similar d-man available via UFA that can be had without giving up the asset.</div></div>
Well Marc Bergevin is good at getting assets for players we don’t think would bring anything back. (ie. Nicolas Deslauriers)
