Suter goes to CO and succeeds greatly in this trade making Bowman look like a fool again in CO trade. So probably not happening. Also Strome and Suter should be held onto. Center depth is there. So keep it. Draft Chibrikov and pray for Michkov in a few years lol.</div></div>
Literally every team in the league was skipping practices due to an obscene amount of GP to finish the season. Hawks played every other day from the end of Febuary until may and there was only 3 times they had more than a day off between games you may as well oust yourself as a clown now if you would really fault Colliton for something every coach was doing. Also causually ignoring that Q had way more optional practices when they didnt have to deal with a compressed season such as this

Even if the wild have a ton of cap space having that much tied up for Parise for those last 3 years is going to set any team back. Have to ride out at least another season (likely 2) before it become more doable.

U want to say Guentzel(26), Blueger(26), ZAR(26), Matheson(25), Friedman(25), Riikola(26) too.</div></div>
DeBrincat is better than Guentzel. DeBrincat had a 30 goal and a 40 goal season at 20 and 21 meanwhile Guentzel didnt even make it into the NHL until he was 23...
Guentzel at 23 playing with Sid 48pts in 82GP. DeBrincat at 23 PPG winger with 30 goals in a 56 game season (and only 52GP) and of their 4 seasons overlapping eachother DeBrincat has been the better player 3 out of 4 with the only exception being 2020 and considering one player is 26 and the other was 22 the edge goes to the 22 yearold every day of the week.
The fact that you even list guys who are 26 and up is hilarious. May as well just go all out on being dumb and list Crosby as a young guy.
A vast majority of those players arent even good. Friedman has like 10 GP over the last 5 years, Riikola is a 7th Dmen, Matheson (A guy so bad Pit fans were rioting on this board for trading for him), and then a bunch of nobodies like these guys Lafferty(24), Zohorna(24), Angello(24), OConnor(23) ???
Debrincat, Strome, Suter, Kubalik, Lankinen, Boqvist, Dach, Reichel, Kurashev, Beaudin, Hagel, Barratt, Teply, Altybarmakyan, Kayumov, Comesso, Borgstrom is miles better than any young group Pit has had for the last 5+ years let alone right now. The players I listed are good enough to make their national teams for the worlds meanwhile youre out here throwing out a bunch of career AHL'ers like Friedman, Angello, and 26 yearold Sam Lafferty as if they are relevant and promising guys :tearsofjoy :tearsofjoy :tearsofjoy

lol except for the fact the Hawks actually know how to draft and develop players unlike Pit. When Daniel Sprong and Dominik Simon are your best drafted players from the last 5 years youre pretty **** at drafting and developing talent. Chicago's pool is top 10-12 Pits is at the 29 range.
Suter, Beaudin, Lankinen, Kurashev, Mitchell, Kalynuk, that is 6 rookies from this past season who have been better than any Pens rookie the last 4 or so years.

Colorado
So Chicago "upgrades" their goaltending by trading for a 30 yearold goalie with a storied career of 34 games all of which being behind a great team. I would honestly bet any of Lankinen and Subban would be better in Colorado than Francouz and Grubauer would be in Chicago. A lot easier to stop 16-20 shots an entire game than consistently facing 35-40 shots a game

Johnson literally cleared waivers, no one was taking him for free. Also he is damn near 30 and signed for another 5 years when he already peaked 6 years ago. He is a cap dump level player with that contract

You should probably look at their cap and try again. Lets pretend the Flames get a good free agent (6 or so million) that leaves them with only 9 million to make a full 23 man roster when they have to have 10 more players to add. Thats also not even factoring in how Calgary still has players to re-sign so no Calgary does have to free up space especially when the cap is going to be stuck at 81.5 million the next 3 seasons.

So you bail tampa out of a huge problem, take in 11.7 million in cap for two already declining players signed for 4-6 more years, and all you get back is a single 1st rounder? Christ that is beyond awful for Chicago.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>That's a lot of draft picks, to go with an already decent roster. And there's still room to sign a 4M UFA over the summer, short term. Even before the expansion draft hopefully clears more cap space. Wow.
My concern would be that if any of their injured guys get healthy, they end up a good deal over the upper limit. And I"m not sure how that works in the summer: can guys stay on LTIR year round, or do they come off and go back on for a moment?</div></div>
Losing murphy or DeHaan in the expansion draft already clears enough cap for when Toews comes back. There is nobody deserving a major raise in the next 3 years.<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gmonwy</b></div><div>So?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gmonwy</b></div><div>So?</div></div>
That means unless the Flames add 11 ELC contract/leauge minimum players they wont afford to even ice their team and something has to give.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Copenhagen</b></div><div>What is that Oilers trade. 1st, 2nd and 3rd to save 1 million bucks. Never. Ridiculous 1.9 million minus another NHL player is 1 million bucks.</div></div>
Neals cap hit is 5.7 million Oilers have 20 million to sign 12 players (and that includes RNH and Yammamotto, to re-sign) Oilers get rid of an awful contract 2 years early, get space to make their team better.

This team isnt a free agent away from contending. Improving through the draft is the only way to get back on track to get the most out of Kane. Getting picks would do a lot more for this team than you are realizing.
