He was a healthy scratch because we had like 3 Ds that had more "experience" and Ducharme wanted there to be more experienced dmen in the lineup. Not his fault too much, he played like 95% of the season right out of camp and performed well.

Yeah no for sure, I don't know what he's on but Romanov is already solid and is still super young. Plus, he apparently has an incredible work ethic.

It's similar to the Ghost trade but Gardiner's stock is probably lower because he's more injured and older.

I don't think either team makes this trade but Romanov is already a solid player and his stock is high. Regardless of what you perceive him to be, GMs will always try and "beef up the back end". Any GM would jump on a smooth-skating D who led all rookies in hits. I think Beauvillier is worth more than Romanov but I also think GMs would like to have Romanov on their team.

10M for Rask and krejci
5M$ for kase and ritchie (as you alluded to)

So I guess maybe 5M$ left over</div></div>
Not to mention players like Reilly and Hall. A team that is trying to content can never have enough cap space, Boston has to be a bit aggressive this offseason. But I get your point, maybe it'd be a 2nd round pick rather than a 1st. Or maybe it could be a similar cap move with a more desperate team for their first.

I think he traded to Nashville just to demonstrate what our team would look like without his contract. If he retires then that's a mutual contract termination and his contract would be off the books. Or he'd go LTIR and wouldn't count towards the cap.

Stanley Cup Victory 2022
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMcAvoy73</b></div><div>I think tough is a bit of an understatement. Montreal has a lot of goals all over.
Goaltending: Price just turned in a heck of a playoff run, but does that erase him being pretty mediocre the last 3-5 seasons? Maybe. Probably not though.
Defense: that top four is okay. I think thats the nicest you can put it. That’s with schmidt and Weber not experiencing any more decline. Petry had a rock star beginning to the season, but since? Meh.
Forwards: like a lot of pieces here, but is Suzuki a real top line center? What is caufield? Is he really a top line guy, or is one of the infinite number of guys that have a hot start and then the league figures them out a bit. I think it’s the former, but who knows.
I think the habs are short a legit number one center, and a legit number one d man before being a true contender.</div></div>
I think Allen is the better goalie during the regular season, besides one season where he played every minute until January, he has always posted solid numbers. I think Price might have some motivation following the loss so I think he'd have a solid 41 games. Nothing spectacular but if we can get average numbers from him then that would be great.
I'd be okay with bringing back Danault but I don't know if it would work out, I wouldn't give him more than 4.5mil. I really liked Danault this playoffs, he was incredible.
I heard some people say we need Monahan but I don't think that would work. Maybe we can make a big splash and go for Dubois but I doubt it.
These are just some ideas, I'm only an armchair GM so I like hearing what others think. We really will have a tough season this year but if the culture stays the same in the locker room and if we can avoid big injuries, I think we'll have a chance.

Those are eight teams that are highly likely to finish ahead of montreal in the regular season. Then there’s philly and the rangers that are in that mix as well.</div></div>
I'm okay with relocating the team to Pasadena so that we can join the Pacific division. But realistically, I think if we do Allen for 41 games and Price for 41 then we have a very good chance of clinching. It will be very tough but doable.

Not saying it's a good deal but it's Jim Bennig, anything is possible. I'd be okay with them retaining 950,000$ and I think that would be even.

Kulak defs has positive trade value. He played well, especially in the playoffs and his contract is still pretty cheap. I could see many teams needing a dependable number 5 guy.

I like Mete and I think that would be a solid pairing, with Edmunson and Romanov rotating in if need be. I wouldn't mind trading Kulak, his value must have improved after the playoffs and he is on a pretty cheap contract. I like him but I wouldn't be mad if we traded him.

.895 in 19 games isn't good by any stretch. Lindgren isn't better but he isn't worse either. Having Brossoit and Lindgren compete for the backup spot would probably improve both their stats and having either in the taxi squad would be good in case of injuries.

I guess it's purely for the expansion draft. He didn't work out in Montreal but I hope he has a solid season in NYR or Hartford. I got scared because I thought it was 1.75mil/year rather than in total. This is fine because it can be worried, NYR is rich enough to pay someone 800k and not worry.

I was saying that they are both equally capable goalies. A Price/Holtby tandem would sound great but I prefer Price/Allen. I think it's a good deal though for Vancouver, they get a good 1A/1B tandem with him and Demko. Especially when you consider Murray's contract at over 6mil.
