McDavid trade lol
I know McDavid will be the best player in the league for years to come, but I'd rather keep a full 1st line (Buchnevich-Zibanejad-Kakko) than have him. Edmonton has shown that McDavid can't carry a team to a cup on his own (even with the help of Draisaitl and Nuge)

Do you think some trades are going to happen at the draft
I think the Rangers are willing to package their own second rounder and Winnipegs first if "their" guy is available at 14-18, similar to last year when they traded up to get K'Andre Miller!

how is zucc a liability i understand pionk because he is praised as a top pairing defence while he isnt that good in his own end i would put him as a top 4 defenceman currently NYR fan but zucc overated in any way? He has been a 60+ player and hasnt had any consistent good partners or all stars with him up front other than nash but nash slowed down 3 years ago.

Lol is right. Zib drives a line and Drouin is a flaky passenger. Sherb is a bust and Hudon is a 4th liner. No thanks

Zibanajed is a 1st liner with elite potential he is worth druin at worst and if not nyr wont move him he has 4 year contract at an insanely team friendly contract.

MTL trade for Center
It's my belief that "if" NYR keeps playing the way their playing, Zibanejad won't get traded. At least not until after the season prior to the draft or prior to July 1st. But if they suddenly fall out of playoff contention, I would think NYR would be looking for in trade for (a young winger on an entry level contract, a very good prospect (s?), & a 1st round draft pick). Unless the NHL level player, prospect, or draft picks, on its own warrant the best deal for Zibanejad.

Pens Shake Up
Last season NYR traded Nash just before the trade deadline for Spooner, Lingren, a 2018 1st round draft pick, Beleskey, & a 2019 7th round pick. Basically Bruins gave up a player (Spooner), a prospect (Lingren), & a pick (#1). It's speculated the 7th round pick was included so NYR would agree to take Beleskey (50 percent 3yr contract retained by Bruins) in the deal as well. I know the trade market varies from year to year, but I would also expect Zuccarello to be traded for a player, a prospect, & #1 pick.

very tempting.. idk abt lotto protected but this deal would be done if it was top 5 protected. also talbot is ufa at the end of the year.. don't know how he factors in terms of the rangers gaining anything from him (maybe a 3 way trade where the third team gives something to the rangers and get talbot back?)

idk if this would be able to get the deal done.. don't see gorts letting lundqvist go unless you have a potential top six player coming back (has potential to develop into top line player but will most likely be a zibanejad type player, okay 1st liner, good second liner) rather that the ryan spooners/namestnikovs of the NHL (good 3rd liners, meh 2nd liners)

Hank won't be traded. He has stated numerous times that he plans to retire a Ranger. I don't know if you caught the Brooks article at the TD, but Gordon offered to move him to a team with a chance at the cup and he said he was committed to the rebuild.
That being said, even if he were in a position to be traded I don't think they could get a return that would be anywhere near as beneficial to the team as having him around is.

it's definitely been proven that teams do not need an elite goaltender to win the cup, they just need it at the right time. Lundqvist would be best in a situation where he plays 3/5-2/3 the season.. 50 games should be the marker. The biggest thing about him is that he thrives when it is on the line. He has some of the best statistics over the last decade in the playoffs. He's look out of sorts the last 2-3 years because yes he is no longer 28-30, but mainly because he's had the likes of Staal, Girardi, Kampfer, smith (last seasons version) and AHL defenders in front of him. Also tack into it a style of play under AV that did not fit the team (they weren't a puck possession team), playing square tiles in round holes (starting hayes over 60% defensively when he is an offensive gifted player) and that makes up the rest of the deficiency. I think carolina is one of the top teams that could use him, and they have the assets to get him as well (thinking young RHD or winger) and picks.
Out of all the teams posted (in post and comments), this is the order i can see him going to (if he fully waived that is):
Would want a first rounder also but:
St Louis (kyrou or kotsin)-- probably would have to retain or take a bad contract back, i.e. bouwmeester [would this get us an additional prospect?]
Carolina (Adam Fox)
Calgary (valimaki or andersson)
the rest (isles, van, buffalo, det, ott) are all sortof rebuilding and not ready to contend. If lundqvist would leave, it would be to win the cup.

I think you could easily add Carolina to your list.

Yup, he is still "KING"
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mbrunne3</b></div><div>True for sure... Luongo still looks pretty good but I definitely see what you mean for sure</div></div>
Yes Luongo just keeps on ticking. He actually never has a really bad game. Ryan Miller just had the best year of his career and he is 38
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Michael</b></div><div>The only thing is that he will be 37 years old by the end of the season and even at $4.25M it's risky for a goalie. I think that would significantly affect the package for him.</div></div>
YUP,
Is this enough, Nylander, Guhle and Ullmark from Buffalo? TBH I would hate to part with them but for Lundqvist it would be worth it.

Elliot + Sanheim + Frost
For
Lundqvist (50% retained) + Zuccarello (50% retained) + 2nd
?
Keep in mind I know people speak very highly of frost but I do not know is real value.

As a Flames fan, I could see us considering it if the salary is reduced to 50%, although probably not until after this season unless Mike Smith has a catastrophic injury. This is also assuming none of the Flames goalie prospects really step up. What do the Rangers want/need in terms of prospects or picks?

Gorton wheels and deals
Raddysh is certainly a great prospect to get from Tampa Bay but they have better ones to offer. I’d personally take Cal Foote. Even if it means taking on more salary or giving them a pick/ decent prospect, Foote is a great prospect who we really should go after. He’s a RHD that has the skills and tools to become a top pair defenseman. He’s putting his game together in the AHL but certainly will be a stud when he’s in the big league. The trade you made is good and would be accepted but I’d rather take Foote than Raddysh.
