Trade for Kakko
IMO I see Kakko as the best player in the deal and will be the far better NHL player in years to come. I see Kakko as far better than Reichel and that is why my deal was structured this way.

So you are trading for a guy with a known drug problem, over 30, 2 years left on a big cap hit, in the midst of a rebuild, and he won't be a teammate who will hang out with his teammates... this sounds so attractive... why hasn't Kyle landed this sweet deal yet?

Regardless of what you think a 1st round pick is actually a ... 1st round pick and that Toronto pick might be a lot higher than 30th especially if they don't resign Matthews. Hawks have way too many forwards as it is this season and plenty of veteran "depth" players to mentor Connor in his rookie year. Its a bad idea to make that trade and I don't even have to worry about Davidson makinng it.

Not a fan of this deal. Trading 1st RD picks is something the Hawks should only be doing if they are trading up in the 1st round or acquiring young high ceiling prospects, not old troubled heavy cap players.

Nazar = Sharp
Reichel = Teravainen
Moore = Toews
Bedard = Kane
Hossa = Big name in FA next year or the year after

Nope and it, hopefully, will be worth the road of bad trades, cap casualties, bad drafting to get Bedard.

Why wouldn't the Hawks just use the pick themselves? Couldn't they get a "promising young dman" in the draft if they wanted?

Bedard Matthews Dynasty
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>Matthews doesn't want 8-years in the first place, it seems that he wants to sign a 7/8 year deal when he's 31.
Hawks definitely have an advantage in terms of being able to give any AAV and also in terms of lifestyle, he'll know that he'll like Chicago since Toronto is similar. There could be other teams like Vegas or TB that could offer him a better opportunity to win if they can make the space.</div></div>
Is there a report out that says what term he wants or doesnt?

7 years at 14 mil per sounds much tastier than 5 IMO. But it doesn't matter its the fact the the Hawks are one of the few teams in the league that can give him whatever AAV he wants. The Leafs are the only team that can give him an 8th year.

I hope they do. They have the cap, the stage, and the ability to make it happen. I don't think any other team outside of Toronto can make him a more appealing offer unless another team drastically makes deals to open up the cap space.
Chicago has to be the top team to land Matthews.

EK possible 3 way
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Hawks will have Jones and Murphy for the duration of Petry's contract. As a Hawk, he'll be a 15 min a night 3rd pair guy who isn't getting PP time either. The "help" the Hawks need on the right side is young RD prospects. Not an overpaid 35 y.o. vet.
As for the trade, terrible value for the Hawks. $2.8m in retention for four years costs at least a 1st if not a 1st plus. Petry takes at least a 2nd and 3rd to move if he's coming to the Hawks. Your deal is light a 2nd and a prospect in my opinion.</div></div>
Fair assessment on the return. I think there is a decent chance this type of pass-through trade happens and I am just trying to figure out the fair value. Sharks will get the bulk of the picks and prospects in the deal of course.
At the end of the day I think the deal will look something like this...
Pens get: EK
Sharks get: NHL player, Two 1st Rd, 2nd Rd, 3 prospects
Hawks get: NHL player, 1st Rd, 2nd and or 3rd Rd, prospect (maybe shed some fringe players like Entwistle)

Thank you and the Hawks need help on the RD, plus his contract is only 2 years.
