Blues pick 16th, man. And while you're right they'll go D, there's like zero chance they take Hutson.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>I hate to break it to you but Parayko is one of the worst analytical dmen in the league and has made 'worst contract list' the past like 3 years. I don't think he's as bad as the analytics would tell you but if he's your top guy your team isn't going to be good.
Also don't how you think they're going to be actual cup contenders anytime soon. Dvorsky is a good prospect but likely ends up being a 2C at most, every other prospect doesn't have the ceiling to make them contenders and their defense is all older players. They have holes everywhere and players with age gaps that won't work together.
Maybe they make the playoffs for the next couple years but Anaheim will pass them soon, Arizona has a brighter future, not even counting the teams that are already better than them and likely stay that way. Then there's like 5 teams in the east with a better looking future than them.
When they moved of from ROR and Petro they needed a full year down, now they'll just be stuck in the middle and go as far as Thomas takes them</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JMSTL2019</b></div><div>He’s not a superstar but he’s steady. Good luck finding a FA dman who matches his league leading 218 blocked shots. The first Leaf on that list is Brodie with 159, he won’t be back so you have to go down to Reilly with 137.</div></div>
Also led all Dmen in takeaways. And near elite transition play. These people don't watch him play, they just look at on ice stats or Dom's hilarious model.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>I understand he can't be easily replaced and I understand Marner isn't the piece they'd be looking for if they did move on from him.
But iv also been told that he's more valuable than Marner, delusional, that he's a a top pairing RHD, he's not and that Marner isn't needed, every team needs a star offensive forward.
In my mind the Blues will always be a mid level team because of this. They thought he was going to step up with Petro gone and found out he's really a #4 on a contender and not an actual top pairing dman. Now they're going to be stuck in the middle with no real way out unless they tear it down, which they won't do because Thomas and Kyrou is there</div></div>

Goalie swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>What? No they aren't. They have 20 players currently under contract for next season with 2 RFA's in Dorofeyev and Korczak. Assuming Lehner doesn't suddenly come back they have ~7M cap space to work with.
Hague is on a dirt cheap contract and a very effective player, he is easily worth far more than 2 3rds.
The Devil's trade is a lot closer than you give think. It cost pick #45 for Arizona to move up from pick 14 to 11, jumping from 16 to 10 absolutely cost more than that.</div></div>
Dorofeyev is getting a raise + Korz = more than half the 6M is gone right off the top. Then they have to replace their leading scorer Cup hero and 2C. It's not like they just have to re-sign a couple of 4th liners. And also, on top of all that, two reliable 4th liners are also UFA. A couple of these contracts counted for next year are AHL depth players. So unless Vegas wants to scrape for the entire bottom six, having already bumped two 3rd liners into the top six, they're in deep doo doo. Brett Howden 3C, here we come. :squinty

Vegas is like a double overpay. They are in deep cap trouble. They're gonna need to basically give away a decent player. New Jersey is also an overpay. And the cap burden shift in the Carolkna trade ain't great, either. Most of these, both teams say no. Vegas should be so lucky.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>You are expecting a better return?</div></div>
No, I'm expecting to work on an extension. He's not on the block, a typical on the block offer ain't gonna fly. Besides, Minten does not fill a need. Jarnkrok would be nice to have, but not like this. He's also not a need. If Buch goes as things stand, it will be for a package that addresses a real need.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RClay321</b></div><div>sure they need defensemen, however doesn't mean they can't improve the forwards as well. Especially since they were terrible at 5 v 5 offense again</div></div>
Dude, we have a serious imbalance. And a bunch of high end D prospects on this draft. To use this 1st on a redundancy would tick me off. We're gonna tell Dvorsky he has every chance to make the team and then we ignore our one dire need to go get another C? As super as it would be to have Rossi, I'm not interested in straying from the plan.

We shall see. Not sure what bar constitutes legit prospect for you, but judging from history it should not take a 1st round level prospect.

It's genuinely astonishing that any one person could think for one second that this Blues proposal was even in the same universe as a "decent trade".
That there is a city with teeming scads of people who imagine such a boldly myopic thing is distuuuurbing.
