If he comes back he is 3rd pair/PK specialist at most. I expect Gryz and Cliffy to make leaps. I don't see Gryz getting more than 3.25M. With flat cap I don't see big money being spent unless they are a top tier talent. It will be interesting to see what the post covid market will be. I expect GM's to be bearish.</div></div>
It will definitely be an interesting offseason for everyone. The cap not increasing will have the biggest affect on teams. But i don’t see free agency costs dipping significantly from previous years.
Unfortunately Bruins feel the same way about Chara, they will keep signing him til he says he’s done. Problem is he’s done and does not realize it.
B’s need a LD and 2nd line wing. How they go about it and who they are targeting is mystery at this point.

People literally just hate the bruins so much they CANT accept when they have good players
I was told debrusk was a 3rd liner yesterday by someone
Im glad you were unbiased and looked from a realistic standpoint :)
Yeah Debrusk and a 2nd for Boeser is the MOST the bruins would ever put in

IMO the Bruins don't really have anything they need (like I can't see him in Boston). Maybe That same offer but a add a 1st

I agree with <a href="/users/McGruff" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="/users/McGruff" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@McGruff</a></a> that he was insurance to help stabilize backline between Chara and kids. He essentially slotted into McQuaid's base salary. The kids thankfully bloomed. The term is where I have issue as 3yrs would have been a nice bridge. They can afford to hold onto him to start the season as insurance but he deserves to play. Like <a href="/users/McGruff" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="/users/McGruff" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@McGruff</a></a> wrote, maybe he'll factor into the expansion draft. Regardless, this will be his last year here...</div></div>
Absolutely bro, dont worry i have no clue who it was but i aint mad :) ... and again like I said to another guy (maybe on another post im kinda lost at this point lol), the Bruins dont NEED to trade him, the 2.75 mil isnt great (considering that Moore is just an extra player FOR THEM) but they dont NEED to trade him like they NEEDED to get rid of Backes' 6 mil (well 5 mill because they could bury 1 mil).
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafs_and_Sens_Fan</b></div><div>Not my trade. Your fellow Bruins fan made this post.

Idk who reported me, or maybe it was just automatic cuz I used the word dumb lol, who knows
But yeah I gotchu bro, im just saying its either Moore for a 5th, 6th, or 7th, or the bruins dont make a trade. No Cap Dump

Backes and the rights to Carlo for Cole and the rights to Kamenev.
You dump Backes who can play with EJ, who I believe he's good friends with, and Backes would maybe help the Avs as a third/fourth line veteran. Boston gets around 4 mil back on the cap dump to try and sign another player. Cole replaces Carlo 4 mil and gives the Bruins a veteran D to replace Miller & Moore once he's back from injury himself and he's more durable. Kamenev gives you a young, cheap centre/ wing to bring through.
It's a joke, but you can't blame a guy for trying! :squintytongue

i think those salaries are a bit bonkers. McAvoy is a group 1 RFA. If he signs for 1 year it will be cheaaaaap. like, really cheap. Krug was the last bruins group 1 I believe, and he signed a 1 year deal coming off a 45 point or so season for 1.4 million. Group 1s don't get paid if they want 1 or 2 years.
Carlo 1 year, same deal.
Heinen, same thing.
Make those all three year deals and you're in the right ballpark, but Carlo and McAvoy probably get a smidge less.

There has to be more moves coming. I honestly don't see them going into next season with this lineup.
They have to integrate some of the younger kids into the lineup. I see no way that one of Studnicka, Lauko or Steen are not on the team. I think the 4th line stays the same, but they replace Lindholm for Acciari.
Coyle stays at 3c and they try Ritchie and Studnicka at 2 & 3 RW.
Backes gets dealt (possible along with Heinen) or sent to minors to force him to expand his destinations. Won't help their cap situation, but may force his hand a bit if he doesn't feel like riding buses. If he is dealt to say Colorado with Heinen and a 2nd for a 7th pick that would open the door for a 2nd young kid to step in. If not with Heinen, than replace with a pick/prospect (1st/Zboril/Lauzon/cehlarik).
I also think something needs to be done on the Defensive end. They are clearly high on Vaakanainan - I would be shocked if they go into the season with Miller and Moore on the roster. Too much money for 6th -7th dmen when you have a very capable Clifton and 2-3 guys in AHL who appear close to ready.

"Thanks Backes." Well don't blame Backes for accepting the contract....who offered it? Look what the Leafs had to pay to rid of Marleau 6.25m cap hit for one year....a first rounder. At in actual money it was only 3.25m. What would be the premium for Backes?

I don't see NYI ever doing that trade, nor do I see Krejci waiving his NMC to go there (or anywhere, but I sense I'm alone on that island among Bruins fans).
Instead of getting Klefbom, EDM can keep him or move him somewhere else (Carolina) to make room for Krug if they want. I'd rather have a draft pick and give a chance to either Lauzon or Zboril to develop into the next top 4 LHD for the organization.
And if you remove Klefbom, you don't need to do the Krejci trade and you'll have more cap space to potentially land a free agent like Grabner who could round out the top 6 and keep Pastrnak with Bergeron and Marchand.

Don’t hate this at all, but personally I’d rather try and move krejci to car for Skinner whose on the same kind of contract as eberle. Skinner playing along side Tavares would be scary. Marchy/Bergy/pasta... debrusk/Tavares/skinner as the top 6, oh my. Also would love to see chara-carlo back together, think they’d be a good pair as would Mcavoy-Klefbom.

B's v1.0
On the surface, it looks pretty realistic, but there are a couple things i don't really like.
First off, Grizz ain't taking 900K. He's probably getting a bump to 2 million. 1.5 minimum.
I would caution about trading Heinen, he's more important than people think. I know he had a rough go in the playoffs, but he was a rookie after all. He's a guy thats exceeded expectations at every single level he's played at.
Also I would be cautious about Coyle. He keeps on seeming like he turned the corner and broke out, and then regressed.
I like the idea of trading Krug to get a more traditional top four d man, and I like Brodin, but given Krugs point totals last year, I really don't think you have to kick in much more after Krug. I think krug and a 3rd might do it.
I think if you remove Heinen, Coyle, and JFK from the equation, it looks pretty good.

Cap situation would be tight but Oshie doesn't need to be the guy signed in that case. Could easily go out and sign a vet RW for 2 years like Sharp, Williams, Marleau.

I don't think that's enough for Chiarot. Yeah, sure, he's a 3rd pairing guy, but i think he's been a good 5th d-man who could maybe get Belesky AND a pick. that's just me though.

Plan B's 17-18
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyRebound</b></div><div>I don't think he's going to sign with Boston at all. With Debrusk, Vatrano and Marchand most likely on the team next year, he probably doesn't see a great chance at getting playing time even though he can play the right side as well. Only way he signs is if Boston guarantees him a spot and even then he could probably get more ice time if he goes and signs with the Blackhawks or another cap tight team next offseason. I hope he signs but the organizational depth is going to scare away alot of these prospects.</div></div>
He's already better than DeBrusk and Vatrano and unless Boston does something in the off-season, Bjrok slots in with Krejci & Pasta. Boston offered him the opportunity to do that (top 6) this year, but he wants to finish his college career and get his degree before going to the NHL. Don't be surprised if Boston takes a 1 year filler on Krejci's wing while they wait for Bjork to come out.
