Coyle is 6'3 221 solid 2way performer. Can play RW and C but would look great with Marchand and Bergeron. Still only 25 and signed at reasonable dollars at 3.2M through 19/20 season. Point totals still trending upwards from 30, 35, 42, to 56 this year. Plus he is a local kid from a great family.. Born to be a Bruin, atleast in the fantasy land we call "Cap Friendly".

Brekel's Mock Offseason (version 1)
I like the shedding of salary and aggressiveness to obtain a top pair LHD that can play with McAvoy. While Oshie would help short term I would rather see them sign vets in the 2-3M range for 1-2 years so B's have flexibility till the kids are ready like Debrusk, Senyshyn, Heinen, Cehlarik, and Bjork. Maybe Stafford, Vrbata, Vanek, etc. I really like RFA LW Tanner Pearson with the Kings or try to pry Coyle from the Wild who might take futures to alleviate cap crunch. Should be a fun offseason.

Boston's Bridge 17/18
Both Kuraly and Acciari play that north/south physical energy role and will be nice additions to the 4th line four years to come. B's will need to add a couple skilled vets on the wings till kids are ready but looking at McAvoy, Carlo, Acciari, and Kuraly makes me think that might be only 1-2 years away with the likes of Bjork, Debrusk, Heinen, and Senyshyn knocking on the door...the future is bright.

This is fantasy land and none of the trades are valid...most require some tweaking after feedback is provided...i.e., I'm a B's fan but a Jets fan may have different perspective. Obviously a good trade is good for both sides..After additional consideration I simply agreed that other compensation may be needed to actually entice Winnipeg. Skill for skill that trade is fair but due to Beleskey's contract a pick may be warranted.

Agreed that a sweetener would be needed due to Beleskey contract, perhaps a 3rd or 4th would do it. I like Chiarot's size and B's could use another L shot to balance off pairs.

They did, he wants to go back and get his degree like the rest of his family has. He has a great relationship with the Bruins organization and I wouldn't worry to much about him becoming a UFA. Not every player is a Vesey, Hayes or Wheeler. End of the next year when NCAA is over is when you'll see Bjork in Boston. Rumors were that he was going to come out this year, but after talking with family he wants to finish his degree being only a year away from graduating.</div></div>
Good stuff on Bjork, really like the skill and seems to have priorities straight. He has family history at ND and fulfilling obligation will only help him down the road.B's can sign a vet to keep his seat warm and hopefully we'll see him for playoffs next year. Wishing him the best of luck.

Well, I'll admit frustration over playoff performance of Spoons / Frankie and would be happy to get Coyle for say Spooner and a good D prospect if that could get it done. Push come to shove I don't mind over paying. 0With Bjork most likely not signing we could use Vatrano on 3rd line.

I agree with both of you that Bjork is top LW prospect and he would slot next to Krejci on 2L.However, it appears to be wishful thinking that he will play on B's next year. He will most likely return to ND for Sr. Year, play in Olympics, and become a UFA after next August 2018. If I was B's, take a year off entry contract and promise him the slot next to Krejci. If not, try to bring back Stafford or a different UFA for cheap till kids are ready.

B's 17-18,
Wild will have to choose who to sign with Granlund, Niederreitter, and Haula all looking for raises. Coyle has been playing down on 3rd/4th lines. Perhaps with Hanzal leaving as an UFA they would entertain Spooner as a cost effective replacement 3C. With the season he has had he might cost in the range of 2.5-3M. Throw in some sweeteners like a young D = Zboril or Lauzaon and a young forward like Debrusk or Heinen or even defensive challenged Vatrano if that is what it take to happen. Coyle would be a star in Boston.

I am a big Frankie fan as his release is killer but he seems to be a step slow on the backcheck. Perhaps it's stick positioning and processing speed. I just don't think you can have him and Spoons together. It will be interesting who the 2 LW and 3 C will be come playoff time. JFK is signed and reporting straight to the big B's. Seems to have a good two way game if he can make the jump.

They typically flip Backes/Pasta depending on situation and whether to stack lines or balance them. I do like Spoons to 2 LW (although experiment failed earlier in season) and JFK as 3 C flanked by Beleskey/Stafford. Seems like a responsible and balanced lineup.

I like Krug but he is more of a PP specialist logging few penalty kill minutes. Swing trade for Trouba and over pay a little to entice Jets. Zboril is redundant with Lauzon , O'Gara, and Grzelcyk ,coming up as LHD.

adding on both ends
While on the surface it seems like a lateral move especially when factoring in Krug's advanced metrics, Corsi, etc...the difference is Trouba can and has logged heavy penalty kill minutes while Krug is limited due to size. It may also be easier to replace Krug's production on the PP with a specialist like Liles or now Ehrhoff if he can continue the resurgence. They also had Zboril, Luzon, Grzelcyk, and O'Gara coming up as LHD. I personallly like Krug as a heart and soul player and would not make the move for the mercurial Trouba.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BreKel</b></div><div><i>I wouldn't not be shocked, at all, if come October 13, Adam McQuaid is not on the team. Maybe it's just a gut feeling, but I feel like he's a movable player. That would open up a spot (to slide Kevan Miller down where he belongs) and maybe either go with a younger player (who shoots right) like Colin Miller or Brandon Carlo in the top 4. Like I said on someone elses ACGM, I don't mind JML back on a decent 1 year contract. He's not my top choice (and I'd rather see someone like O'Gara or Morrow) but I wouldn't hate it.
To me in all honesty, keeping (or getting) a stop gap type defenseman for 1 year to let McAvoy, Lauzon, Zboril, Carlo, O'Gara, etc. progress a bit wouldn't be a bad thing. They have a seriously deep defensive pool which should be a lot of fun to watch in 2-4 years when these guys start making their way into the lineup...One reason why I'd like to see them go with Morrow or Colin, since that next wave could easily push them out. IF you don't know what you have in them before then, you may lose out on a good defenseman.
Hope tomorrow is fun, nonetheless, though!</i></div></div>
Agreed, the best path might be patience. Find a 1 year vet to bridge the kids and try not to overspend just to fill a spot. I like Demers but not at 6m per year. JML for a year till Grzelcyk, Lauzon, etc can man PP is fine. Hopefully Carlo and McAvoy can help out the right side next year as well. Should be fun, see what happens this weekend.

Miller, Morrow, Subban and maybe even Heinen, DeBrusk, Senyshyn, Zboril, Carlo or O'Gara guaranteed play time and you transition veterans like Chara and Seidenberg out of their regular play time. This may very well be a transition year but not with the roster you put together.
With that said, I love the Demers signing. Make that deal ten times out of ten.</i></div></div>
The "transition core" is a year away. You will need some vets on a one year deal to bridge because no one in minors is ready. Griffith, C. Miller, Morrow, Subban, Heinen, DeBrusk, Senyshyn, Zboril, Carlo or O'Gara, are not ready. They can be brought up as needed in season to get some experience. There is no point overpaying for Okposo, Eriksson, etc. Stay the course and sign someone like Demers for a reasonable contract and resign Krug. Keep the money for next year and hope someone takes Seids off our hands.

I just don't see Nashville trading Ellis due to great value and term. I would certainly like to have him as his advanced stats are fantastic and he plays much bigger than his size. I am not a fan of the Toronto trade but like the idea with Krejci. Try to get a top 4 Dman and possibly take back a final year of a pending FA to offset Krejci's money. I like Krejci but has no wings to play with and the B's need to rebuild because the transition is not working.

Why would Suter beg to play with Brodin if he's forced to play with Dumba?</i></div></div>
Dumba can't play actual defense (yet). He is a 3rd pairing skill wise defender. You keep saying Spurgeon is a second paring Dman, Dumba is way behind him. He would need to take a huge step to be a top pairing guy.
Brodin and Scandella were Dumba's main pairing partners, they had to cheat towards the D-zone. It's not just the eye test, it's one of the reason's their stats both got worse.
Suter and Parise owned Yoe. They picked their linemates. Parise doesn't like Koivu as his centre and likes Pommer (the guy who didn't score his first goal until the 22nd game of the year) as his RW.
The defense was worse this year than the year before when the pairings were Suter/Brodin and Scandella/Spurgeon. Hard minutes it was Suter/Spurgeon and Scandella/Brodin (because Dumba wasn't good enough).
The idea was to move Brodin back to his natural handed side (LHD) and be Dumba's partner. It kind of worked when the Wild were outscoring people 4-3 and 5-4 early in the season, but it relied heavily on scoring goals not defending against them (the opposite of Yoe's philosophy).
Suter's comments came out after the Wild had just lost 6 of 7 while giving up 3 or 4 goals in each of the loses (lost the last game after being up 3-0). This is when the perceived locker room split started (old vs young). Spurgeon's signing was when GMCF was trying to trade Brodin to CBJ and the cap was projected to be $74m. The dynamics of the organization have changed dramatically since Spurgeon was extended.
I think the Wild need to trade Spurgeon, new coaching staff, new message. The inmates truly were running the asylum last year under Yoe. Almost all the coaches have been replaced (new head coach that makes sense), but some of the longtime support staff have also been released. So might as well use this year as the shift year from the old core (Parise/Suter/Koivu/Pommer) to the young core (Granny/Nino/Coyle/Brodin/Dumba). Scandella and Spurgeon (don't know how well BB/Stevens see him fitting into his philosophy) are the odd ones out age wise. The Wild don't have the money to sign a high priced FA this year (are dumb if they do).
I'm not worried about attracting and FA's if Suter gets mad (because someone was traded), winning and money cure a lot of things (besides the Wild really can't afford anyone for a few years). Trades happen all the time and NMC's have to approve the trades.
This trade is highly unlikely to happen, too much is involved. But it is interesting.</i></div></div>
Cool thanks for the info wabit!</i></div></div>
Great info, wabit! The Wild have a a spoil of riches on defense. It will be fun to see if they can cash some in for offense.
