What would you trade for William Nylander
I don’t think any of the big guys get traded. The leafs pushed the back to back cup winners to seven and lost by one goal. They played well and barely lost. They would have won against almost anyone else. They are not in need of blowing the team up.

just cause Willy has those moments of half assing, JT tries his hardest & he proved that against Tampa

Seems dumb to trade Nylander. His contract is good. Should pay whatever it takes to move Tavares.

Whats next
Wrote this in that other AGM you referenced for the Blackwood trade:
"Seriously hope Devils aren't trading Blackwood. I'm a big believer in him and back him to develop into a true NHL starter sooner rather than later.
I think his underwhelming results as of late are more due to too much responsibility being forced upon him (was supposed to share the net with Crawford last year and Bernier this year) as well as outright playing injured a lot of the time.
OP's tradeoffer doesn't do anything for the Devils anyway.
Two C level prospects and a mid rd pick doesn't fill any need for a team that already sits on one of the strongest and deepest prospect pools in the league."

Final piece for mtl
Is there a story in Montreal about Byron to NJ? Why so many posts on capfriendly?? This trade does not fit what NJ is trying to do, per Fitzgerald. Its just not feasible ... In today's environment, 3 years at 3.4 mil for a player of Byron's age and talent is unmovable .. it would need to be attached to a valuable asset. There are far too many better opportunities out there to utilize open cap space (see TB)

Brendan Gallagher
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJDevilsFa89</b></div><div>Agree. Hope habs pay him well. He doesn't fit NJD winning timelines though. We're not going to be competitive for 3-5 years. Gallagher will be 33-34? Not sure his playing style will age well either. Not worth it for our franchise.</div></div>
What people also need to realize is that his style is not conducive to value over the long term. He's an absolute warrior but his style makes him injury prone.
Broke his hand twice taking shots from the point (Weber, Boychuk) maybe a bit of a fluke but the guy's body is breaking down. He fits a contender that wants to milk a good 3-4 years out of him and where they will eat the last couple of years!

He's gonna want 7 million per year, long term.
Problem being that he's been underpaid for years in Montreal and expects his loyalty to count for something.
"If you want loyalty, get a dog" - Marc Bergevin
This isn't surprising. It was always going to be a difficult negotiation. Absolutely nothing new here, he's not being shopped but sure let's have at the fantasy.
Look at the Stone price. It would most likely have to be a trade with an extension in place while coming back to MTL an A+prospect and futures

Building from other Armchair GM Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devil1122</b></div><div>Maybe Walsh could slot into that spot if college hockey is cancelled this season</div></div>
I heard it was cancelled until the start of 2021 i.e. January 2021, so it could go either way.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJDevilsFa89</b></div><div>But his Twitter engagement is great - and a fan favourite. These things are important for smaller market teams. Kinkaid is also a cheap backup, which would allow Schneider to move back to the NHL if his game picks up.</div></div>
I like resigning Kinkaid if he is fine with splitting time in the AHL with Senn, and I think you could get him for less than $1,000,000 on a two-way contract. He wasn't great the last 2 years and with how bad Schneider has been NJ might be the one of the easier spots he could get a chance to play in the NHL.
Start Blackwood, backup Schneider, if/ when Schneider sucks bring up Kinkaid, if Kinkaid sucks bring up Senn, and run with Blackwood and Senn.

Losing Wood gives up a needed roster spot allowing younger prospects to slot in.</div></div>
Maybe Walsh could slot into that spot if college hockey is cancelled this season

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Propeller09</b></div><div>Yes, it is.
Bjork is going to be a very good player. I know he seems a bit old to be developing now, but he was derailed by injuries his first two pro years. He came into this season much stronger and it showed.
Kid has Elite speed, his hands and shot are up there too. At a minimum 2/3 years at 1.6m will be 20g and a dynamic skater who can be a good penalty killer. The salary retention is questionable, or at least the amount.
It's a fair deal because Palmieri only has one year left and I see him getting a decent raise, the Bruins won' t pay.</div></div>
The salary retention is absurd.

Finishing the job
I kind of like the Bjugstad to New Jersey trade. Devils give up very little for him so it's a low risk-medium reward situation. If he finds his game again in New Jersey it could help their depth scoring and take pressure off of the young stars there. If it doesn't work out? Then let him walk to FA in a year. Not sure if Devils fans like it but from an outsider I think it's good.
