I agree with Edmundson I like his play. A lot of people think he’s another Dumoulin though which I don’t see cause Edmundson is way more physical then Dumo.
Wheeler is questionable I like it but is he too slow for Sully.

Dubas new home Future Stanley cup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JSEB93</b></div><div>Your UFAs are decent - although I think slight overpays on Mayfield and Bunting.
The trades though........ the trades. Why in the world are we dumping Rust to trade for Anderson and giving Blackwood 4mil AAV? Plus all the teams minus NJD probably deny the trades anywyays.</div></div>
Anderson would help our 1st or 2nd line.
Trading away Granlund, Rutta, Carter, Rust and Poulin are guys that need to be traded in order to get better and faster.
Rust only shows himself in spurts. Rextall over paid for him when he’s not a consistent player.
Acquiring Mantha just helps with getting Anderson maybe not in the way I did it but someway the organizations can make it work. Mantha is wanted by Montreal and Pittsburgh wants Anderson.
Blackwood most likely will hit free agency and prolly won’t have to lose a 5th for him but I think Blackwood has potential to be the guy somewhere.
Idk what teams are gonna pay for some of the free agents but I strongly feel that those all could be guys they try a target.
Compher is fast not cheap but fast.
Mayfield and Hathaway bring all the toughness.
Bunting brings fast and gritty play an can play on the top 2 lines.

Yea they want to play fast. I know Dubas brought in Schenn to TOR. The D core definitely needs an upgrade on being physical.

-I can totally see Dubas signing bunting
-I can see blackwood being a target as a bounce back guy on the cheap BUT he would be the 1B. Pit still needs a 1A which DeSmith is not…
-edmunson is not a top pairing d
-I don’t really want mayfield or Clifton for those contracts, I don’t see them as too much different from Petry/rutta</div></div>
I look at both Mayfield and Clifton comes with more grit and toughness to their game. Those guys clear the net and that’s something we haven’t had since Brooks Orpik.

I’d assume since they spent 5 picks on him they will over pay for him as well but they don’t have very much to work with.

Giving those guys a chance Poehling prove his worth of keeping in the line up. Same with O’Connor I like the way he is aggressive. Smith I think needs more of a chance then how much Dumoulin played this year. Nylander has a better chance of proving himself playing a full year with either Malkin or Crosby.

Can we fix it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeyfan1234</b></div><div>Rust definitely gives his all 110% of the time lol. And all those players you brought in are 4th liners. You’re trading guys that do more giving 50% effort for guys that do less giving 110% effort. That’s silly. Not to mention wildly overpaying them. I mean those contracts are worse than Hextall’s lol</div></div>
So you think Rust gives it his all. 20 goals this year after getting a huge contract. He doesn’t score those goals with the help of Crosby and Malkin. He is a 3rd liner at best. He hardly ever hits and I’ve seen the guy skate fast and he just doesn’t like 75% of the time. We need more aggressive players that play hockey and not the way that they don’t want to hit or be hit.

That’s the point of getting the guys I traded for those guys on the ice go out 110% all the time. There’s no quit in them. Guentzel was mainly for a 1st, Rust plays about 75% of the time. Wood goes hard every game an he will stand up for your team. Domi same thing and playing with Crosby or Malkin willing to fight an he will score. Roslovic is aggressive an will provide the 3rd line with intensity. Both Ritchie’s bring heart and toughness and proven they can score. Graves provides the back end toughness along with Brown. Dumba can score an hit an also move the puck a skate. Vejmelka is gonna be a winning goalie may even be better than Jarry. So who’s garbage?

Sully and Hextall fired
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WesternMass</b></div><div>Why would Sullivan get the axe? Not saying he’s at his peak by any means but that just seems unlikely.</div></div>
From 2000 to 2023 the Penguins have missed the playoffs 5 times. How many coaching changes happened between those years? The point being made of firing him is that the Penguins no longer get the motivation from Sully. He may be a good coach and coach guys to play the right way which is you get punched in the mouth don’t punch back. Hockey is not that type of sport you need guys to play as a team fight for each other and it’s ok to fight it’s ok to be super aggressive and play a gritty game. Sully does not coach that way an he’s trying to change the game to all offense. You need defensemen to clean the trash out of the front of the net.

Having not won a round since 2018, everybody outside of Pittsburgh knew it was a mistake to resign Letang and Malkin instead of selling high at last year TDL. But hey, people still pay to go see them, so Hextall didnt need to rebuild. Now it's too late.
Enjoy as is. There is no miracle making this team a contender in the next decade.</div></div>
I have to agree with that. I said that the first time they got knocked out of the first round. The head coach doesn’t like anybody with a nasty side to their game it’s all about making the pretty passes.

I’ve been watching penguins hockey since 92 so I’ve witness greatest and great players to the worst and just OK players. I also watch other teams and games being played and there are so many players playing with more intensity and grit than what I have seen the penguins play. I just don’t understand what the organization see’s in the GM and head coach to live with a team like this. Yes Crosby, Malkin and Letang but this is a business not a friendship they need to move 2 of them.

Idk about that every trade so far has been different. 5 picks an a player for Jeannot, a 3rd for Gostisbehere, 1st and another pick plus 2 players for an old Ekholm. Idk what to think on how these GMs are wanting an think about values of players.

Hextall willing to trade picks
The penguins get pushed around way too much let alone can’t defend their net and they need guys to be able to man up and box out the front of the net. Too many teams take advantage of Pittsburgh not having anybody to push back. Every cup team they have had, had guys built for that. The last few years they have been going away from being a physical team.
