Defensive upgrade
You underpaid Bouch and Janmark and overpaid Severson. Why would Janmark sign for league minimum? He deserves more whether it be in EDM or elsewhere.
As for the trades, the Flyers would not be bringing in players as they should be rebuilding. I’m sure another team would bring in Foegele though. Ceci will not render that big of a return.

Another crack at Parayko
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>southpark_writer</b></div><div>If you look at Parayko’s DFF% and GF% on PuckIQ vs elite players, he has been in decline since 2018-2019.
He is no longer an elite defenceman, and with his cap hit now and continuous regression, any trade for him is only a good deal if Blues retain some salary. This trade is horrible, and long term would be a disaster like the Lucic deal.
Blues fans will disagree, but the math doesnt lie.</div></div>
Math doesn’t lie but it also doesn’t tell the full story. Parayko plays a shut down game and hasn’t been paired with a defenseman who can play defense years. This hurts his stats to some degree and definitely has forced him to try and do more than one player can. That being said, this trade is definitely an overpay and the blues would be dumb to say no.

I would like that trade as a jackets fan. Perfect term, age and fit. Plus his cap and price wouldn’t be much. I’m in.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>Then provide a link where Drai and McDavid vacation together... Are you talking about the GF whom McDavid cheated on last year (https://www.hookedonhockeymagazine.com/connor-mcdavid-caught-cheating-on-his-girlfriend-lauren-kyle/)? When Sportnet (I think) shows players walking in pregame, I don't see McDavid or Draisaitl ever talk to each other or even acknowledge the others existence and that leads me to wonder if they even like each other</div></div>
Check McDavid's Instagram, they were just in Turks & Caicos together. I'm not going to link out of respect for his privacy, but your notion that they don't like each other is plain false. McDavid, Draisaitl and Nurse are tight.

New top D pairing next season
That should get you Chychrun. Arizona accepts.
St Louis says no by a long shot. Parayko at 4.5m a year would have teams running through walls to get him.
Columbus says a hard no. (I would know, I have attempted to get Boone many times... Columbus fans will confirm they are annoyed with me). I offered quite a bit more and still got told no.
Philly says no.

Chych is about right
You're not getting rid of Barrie for that much
Severson and Brown will cost you more
Bouchard will want more or want out of town
IF Klostin keeps playing the way he is, you won't be signing him for 3 years at that

Thread:
Next year no Campbell 2
I understand the frustration with Campbell, wholeheartedly, I get it. But I think trading him away will be premature given the historical inconsistency of veteran goaltending. In the last 4 years, Jake Markstrom has had 2 seasons below .905 and 2 seasons in the Vezina top 5. Matt Murray was awful for the Senators and Ilya Samsonov was NQO'd by the caps, theyre both .930 goalies this year in Toronto. Pump the breaks on Campbell, hes got a history of success and long contracts rarely show positive dividends in year one. Especially considering the guy you're trading Campbell for in this mock trade is having a terrible season of his own and with the retention factored in, the cap savings are essentially null, plus trading away Puljujarvi when he still definitely has legitimate value given his analytical profile, previous seasons, and impact outside of his end product.

Good god what is that Pulju trade.
Not trading one of our best young players for a dude who can't even consistently score 30+ points playing beside McDavid.
I'd be down to do a tolvanen for pulju swap 1 for 1.

8 years of dead cap after year one of a big UFA signing would be such an Oilers move.
Edit: I just checked, it is a fairly manageable buyout at least.. lol

<p>Gary Bettman after a 4-hour Board of Governors meeting tells assembled media here in NYC that the escrow balance likely will be paid off at end of season by players. Better next season
-Certainly closer than most on that Chychrun trade, IMO. Probably need to add another smaller piece (ie. 2nd round pick or mid-level prospect like one of Lavoie/Tullio/Petrov)
-That's fine for Puljujarvi I think...Pretty surprised that, if true, the ask was a 2nd and that nobody bit.
-Regardless of the pick, I'd be surprised to see Montreal pay for anyone at this point. Wouldn't be the worst idea, but if they're 2-3 years from competing, I could see them wanting to give those PP minutes that to a young guy as opposed to Barrie. Not easy to move money right now, and even if the cap jumps that far (I feel like it's not supposed to until 2 years from now), it'd be a surprise to see the Habs do something like that.

Trade for Connor Brown
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheBoyDuddus</b></div><div>Might be a little low but I actually have no problem with a 2nd at his full salary. Like I said before retaining 50% probably could’ve netted a 1st but with all the moves that have been made, his 3.6m off the books is an asset in and of itself.
Advantage Washington, they knew Dorion wanted to move done. Good on them for stepping up when Edmonton couldn’t move salary to get it done.
Trade changes nothing about what I said either lol</div></div>
A 2nd round draft pick only have about a third chance of playing 100 or more games in the NHL and an equal chance of never playing a single game. What value!

Not getting Pool Party and a 1st. Especially when Brown becomes UFA and Lehkonen had cost control.
You're looking at a 2nd and Jesse at best!</div></div>
How in the world can he be a poor man’s Lehkonen “without finishing” when he puts up more goals and points while playing on a worse team LOL
50 point pace every single season in Ottawa. One of the leagues leading pkers at forward. Defensively responsible, plays up and down the lineup, can play pp as well. Only a year older than Lehkonen and can be traded at only 1.8m against the cap. He’ll get a 1st.
