Might be a rare time where a team offers too much. Blues won't be in any rush to move Parayko, but for this overpay they'd be dumb to decline.

If you look at Parayko’s DFF% and GF% on PuckIQ vs elite players, he has been in decline since 2018-2019.

He is no longer an elite defenceman, and with his cap hit now and continuous regression, any trade for him is only a good deal if Blues retain some salary. This trade is horrible, and long term would be a disaster like the Lucic deal.

Math doesn’t lie but it also doesn’t tell the full story. Parayko plays a shut down game and hasn’t been paired with a defenseman who can play defense years. This hurts his stats to some degree and definitely has forced him to try and do more than one player can. That being said, this trade is definitely an overpay and the blues would be dumb to say no.
