Must be nice not to put an ACGM Flames roster in 3 1/2 weeks but yet sit back and snipe at everyone who does. Come on man put your suggestions up if your going to hammer those of us that do.

I like what you have done. Couple of questions.
Do you think Cirelli can be had for that value? I don't know. I have seen suggestions that he could sign form 4.2 to 6.3. Which is a big range.
Max has a better PPG avg but I am not sure it's worth 2m more. Is he rumored to be wanting 6m?
Not sure about the Hanafin trade but I didn't watch the Rangers at all this year. I do think Hanafin still has room to grow. You did leave cap room to keep him if you wanted.

Some good names. I think seeing as I am not backing down you refuse to add Johnny thats fine. I still feel he’s top 20. His production backs that up. Not to mention if Johnny was on the Tampa team you’d have him top 20. Is Point the same quality player not on Tampa? Ask Lowe about Penner.

Point is a great player yes. Johnny is easily in the top 20 one year removed from 99 points. Has Point had 99 points yet? So again stay on planet Earth. Point .89 PPG stats, career points 40/66/92/64. Johnny .96 PPG outside his burnt ELC year career points 64/78/61/84/99/58. So actually one can make an argument that Johnny is a superior player to Point based off the numbers. Imagine what Johnny could do if he had the supporting players around him Point does.

I based the trade off that one or both Raatna and/or Kuemper get traded (didn’t add that in the explanation). Arizona gets a cheaper goalie option as I thought they are rumoured to have a low internal cap set. Dave solves this issue.
Also I put they would go where a deal could be had so I wasn't;t locking in Arizona.

Will his play drop off once Gio retires and they are not paired together?
Any local Calgary fan's know if his house is for sale? (If so he's not coming back).
Does he take a hometown discount to stay in Calgary? I have to think he gets more money on the open market or a bit more term. I do think you have him signed at a fair value for what holes Calgary needs to fill and the available cap.

I had that same thought when I put the deal together. I picked those players simply to get the Cap to work for Calgary. I was trying something different by trading with the Rangers as Philly deal have been beaten to death.

Flames Rumors
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DiehardRedWingsFan58</b></div><div>I read your your team explanation, Bottom line in reality Pietrangelo will cost you $9 million, Markstrom $6 million and Hall $8 million all 3 are pipedreams and Calgary doesn't have the cap space to fit nearly $23 million of salary onto their roster. Funny how you think all 3 would sign in Calgary for cheaper then what they can get on the open market.</div></div>
I never said all three would sign. I said they were all rumors. I also said Hall was scary to sign and I wouldn't sign him for more than what I put him at. I also put what it would probably take to sign Hall in the explanation. You say you read the explanation if so, why are you still beating the same drum?
PIetrangelo asks from St Louis is apparently is 8x8, the issue is bonuses and buyout protection at the end of the deal (What Doughty got). This is something St Louis doesn't want to give. Its also believed that St Louis and Pietrangelo are going to take another run at a deal before free agency opens. Bottom line, he may get 8, 9 or 10 a year. You or I don't know until its done. There are also examples of players taking less money to allow a team to be competitive (Crosby, yes a home town discount) or play on certain teams (Ryan in Calgary he was offered more elsewhere). Its possible he signs in Calgary, very unlikely but possible. I also don't see him signing for a rebuilding team unless he is content to just cash in, which if that's the case do you really want that type of player? I think he is likely going to a team that he can get paid market value or close to, and a contender (St Louis, Vegas) or a team close to a solid run (Calgary, Vancouver, Philly, etc) if cap space allows it.
As for Markstrom, the goalie market is flooded this season, so there are lots of options and prices may change. I think Calgary looks for an upgrade, it may or may not be Markstrom. Lehner is apparently asking 5x5, so Markstrom may not get 6x6. Both are very close stat wise, with Lehner being a year younger, so I am unsure Markstrom gets 6 m a year if Lehner signs for 5. First guy to sign sets the market.
Not everyone's driving motivator is money. Its a factor but not the sole driver. Signing a UFA is a better option as Calgary does not give up any futures rather than, say trading for Kuemper or Murray.
As for it being a pipedream, have teams ever shed cap to make signings happen? Yes. Could Calgary? Yes. Is it it possible to sign all three? Yes. Will it be easy? No.

Pretty sure LeBrun said Vegas, Toronto and Calgary as good landing spots. I could be wrong but probably not. Also, you should have read the explanation before you commented as I explained why I chose the values and that I didn't think Hall would sign for what I proposed. I agree he's getting paid, but I don't think its 4m. He only did it for the one year. I think 2.75 or 3 for 2 year bridge deal like Sam got is going to happen. He produced more than Sam so he gets a but more.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>claytron8000</b></div><div>My guess is Hanifin, Rittich, Bennett, and Ryan are all explored as potential cap dumps.</div></div>
That will depend on what Tre does for the expansion draft. I see more Ryan and Rittich as the CAP dump. I don't think Rieder gets 900k. He passed through waivers last year wasn't claimed at 700k. I think he gets the 750k due to his playoffs as a reward.
Hanafin getting traded is short sighted right now. He is 23 has a decent cap hit, also, Gio has two years left before he likely moves into the front office. Valimaki has potential but is still unknown right now so I think Hanafin stays, unless its a trade package with say Monahan or Johnny for a #1 C (Not likely happening). Trading Hanafin leaves the D potentially weak moving forwards.
I think the Markstrom number is really close (regardless what Van fans say) but he gets a NMC in some capacity to bring down the cap hit. The other option would be an extra year to bring it down further but the contract being front loaded like they did with Kipper.
I do like the look of this lineup, and other than a possible trade for Pietrangelo for signing rights, Calgary isn't mortgaging the future by giving up picks to get players.

No interest in Ceci/Rowney/Brassard (Ryan will get dealt for a 3rd). I don’t think we need this much of an increase in physicality. We played a pretty physical series against Dallas, Bennett and Lucic were hitting everything that moved, Lindholm and Tkachuk aren’t afraid to finish their checks.</div></div>
Gudas and Ceci were just players I picked as they have a high hit count. I would prefer Dillion but we have enough LD so I was intentionally going for RD. Ryan was strictly a cap dump. For Rowney and Brassard their cap hits simply worked.

Staal gone Dumba is next
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>flamesfan</b></div><div>That would be horrible for Calgary dumba is too 4 at best and Johnny is an elite players</div></div>
I agree Johnny is an elite player. That's why I said Dumba plus Greenway plus a sweetner (prospect , pick or both). The main point was I don't see Monahan getting traded like the original proposal, unless a strong Centre is coming back or Tre has a trade for one.
Johnny is a great player. He will get you to the playoffs by getting points and wins. I just don't think his game is suited to playoff hockey which is a heavy game. He either needs to change that aspect of his game, or play or a different style of team (Tampa). His game is not to play the small forward game Theo did. I think Johnny does need to go in on the D man and push him or lean on him to wear him down. I didn't see that against either the Jets or Dallas. Additionally, if any of the other CGY rumors happen (ie, Markstrom, Murray, etc) Calgary will need to create cap space. Other than Lucic (who has limited value), how do you see CGY doing it? You have a reduced schedule this coming season and with 16.9 m is cap space. They need a goalie, four forward positions and three d positions. That's just over 2 m a player and a bit of cap space to spare. Mangiapane is getting paid this time. You need a stronger goalie so that going to be 3-6 m, to help share the work load with Rittich. When you start looking at the Cap numbers someone needs to go out so they can start filling holes. Johnny has the best value to give GCY the best return. At this time the return is unknown. We are likely losing Hamonic so we need a more physical D-man Dumba fits that need. Greenway is a big which CGY also needs some more of. If Johnny moves on, scoring will need to be more by committee moving forwards. You are banking Mangiapane and Dube keep progressing.
Perhaps Johnny stays, so be, it he is still a great player and Tre uses UFA's to fill those holes with value deals. AT this point only Tre knows.
