THEYRE READY FOR THE BIG STAGE

That's what I was thinking. The Sharks could decide to not do it for particular reasons but if you have cap space, you'd be stupid to decline a 3rd and a decent prospect. Thomson with PP time could easily be a 30 pts D-man. You'd just have to pair him with a good defensive LHD at ES so he doesn't cost you defensively
All that said, I'd much rather trade Kubalik (1 year left at 2.5 AAV) for an asset (2nd?) than pay anything to move Joseph
With Tarasenko signing, Sens don't really need Kubalik much anymore. Joseph actually fits the needs better (PK and ES defense)
But it's not like Dorion understands roster construction so he might just end squandering another asset (non existant asset management)

As a Caps fan I'd consider it if that 1st next season is top 10-14 protected. But I honestly wouldn't consider it all unless Debrincat comes with an extension in place.

Well, well, well, if it isn't a Senators fan slithering into Leafs territory. My condolences for your perennial underachievement.
You know, it's pretty bold of you to talk trash about 'trash value' when your team's idea of a high-value trade is basically selling the farm for some second-round picks, which is exactly what you'll get for Debrincat. Maybe you should take a break from the Nylander fixation and go,scout some beer league players - could be the Senators' next big signing
The only thing more amusing than your perspective on trades is the Senators’ performance each year. But hey, keep focusing on the Leafs. It's easier than confronting the sad reality of your roster, right?
Nylander's stats alone are enough to make most players in the league green with envy, yet here you are, undervaluing his contribution like you've got a magic 8-ball that can predict future performance. Not to mention, that 'trash value' you're referring to is part of what's keeping Toronto on the playoff map. Haven't seen the Sonketaors on that map in awhile.
And the funniest part of this? I'm not even a Leafs fan! I'm just an outsider looking in, and even I can see the Senators are more like a circus than a hockey team. How about you sort out your own three-ring circus before giving advice to one of the consistently top-performing teams in the league?</div></div>
All I read was a lot of blah blah blah

Either way, OTT declines.</div></div>
Landy's cap space has to be regarded by the Avs as only being there for a year. Debrincat has a 9 mil QO. Landy's cap is 7 mil. Even with Manson's money in this scenario.....that's not a smart use of your cap and means you're shedding more players next year as cap casualties. Something the Avs simply can't afford to do. They need depth not more 'superstars'. If they spend high anywhere it needs to be a 2C. You're also right though on the trade itself, I too can't see OTT making that trade.

Agreed. People seem to generalize 1st round picks into a "All 1sts are equal!" category.
Side note: I'm still a bit jealous that my Ducks didn't get Debrincat, but I guess I'll settle on the fact that they got Mintyukov, and he's lookin' better than Korchinsky (at this point at least...)

I'm biased, but I think any team would be happy to receive a healthy Korpisalo. I wish the Jackets could keep him, but between Elvis's contract and Tarasov coming up, there just isn't space. I'd be happy with this return and thrilled for him if Ottawa re-signs him and he can go on a tear next season behind a more competent defense.

OTT-LAK Durzi to Ottawa for Greig 2nd and 4th
Ottawa doesn’t do Greig straight up for durzi let alone add picks with him. Everyone knows LA has to move a d man which means they’ll get below market value for whoever they move. They might get the 2nd alone but that’s it

Maybe Jarventie, Thomson and two 2nds? Thomson could essentially step into Chicago's lineup imo, and Jarventie is a young talented winger with a monster shot.</div></div>
Think the hawks would have to take this offer. Yes they might be able to get a late first but getting 4 potential prospects for Murphy would be a big win.

As the Ottawa GM the only way I might consider this deal if I could parlay they 2nd and 3rd round into getting rid of Zaitsev. However, without looking at the fine print of Myers deal, the sticking point could be the real dollars paid to Myers this and next year. Ottawa still does not have deep pockets.
