perhaps! i don't know enough about Pitts prospect - I just know that Jarry won't be it...also as a rangers fan and knowing what Zucc can do, I'd love to see Zucc play alongside Crosby. Obviously don't actually want to see that because we all love zucc but the idea of zucc actually playing with someone of crosby's talent is intriguing purely from a general hockey perspective.

i understand what you're doing here and i don't entirely disagree with it from Pitt perspective....but in your explanation above it sounds like Tristian Jarry is the "prospect" rangers would be getting and they have no need for him. Between Lundqvist, Georgiev, and Igor shestyorkin jarry has no value to them.

if they need depth it's sitting in WBS. I can not believe with how well Angelo is playing down there they have not brought him up for at least a 4th line role.

Fleury is worth like 10 Sprongs. That’s coming from a penguins fan.
Look for a 4th round pick and the next Pedan.
I’ve seen a lot of Coyle, enough to no I’m not interested. He’s really more a RW. Brass had been solid, don’t read too much DK. Kessel was the problem on that third line last game.

B. Maatta for Montour I would take. Anything else and sorry we good.

I would say it’s a big upgrade. Actually good NHL RD for a guy that could be out of the league this season. Goalie prospects have pretty low value to so, probably this deal is pens slanted if anything
The other deal certainly is, Buff needs D and they seem high on McCabe

Eller got three more points than Nelson this year, and a 3% higher corsi, with similar zone starts, only a tiny bit more icetime. Nelson had onemore goal this year, but his goal totals have declined the last two years. Eller's just went up by 50%. If he keeps building on that, while Nelson keeps declining, the Caps are much better off with Eller than Nelson.
That Edmonton trade looks fine, value wise, but trading Holtby should be a last resort way to keep Carlson, not just a way to panic andreplace him. Also this team has only one right handed defenseman. Since Ovechkin seems to prefer to play the left point on the power play, with a right shot at the right point settting him up for one timers, they could use a backup right D, in case Niskanen doesn't play all of the power plays. Klef, Carlson, Niskanen, and Orlov would be a fantastic top four on defense. Trading Holtby to slow the bleeding as Carlson leaves is just kind of sad. Vrana for Puljujarvi? Meh. Again, you've traded for a guy two years younger who scores slightly fewer goals and might have a higher ceiling or might not.
Good effort. Nothing wrong with getting slightly younger peripheral players, but if the Caps feel their chief strength is that their coaches build a consistent defensive team game, then that might not be enough marginal value to justify all the turnover.

Lines for NYI

Quoting: PhilTheThrill

I think the first line is perfect, there is chemistry there, and they are grinders and tough to play against like 2016. The second line has shown to work, but I also think Malkin and Rust could benefit from having Guentzel there and move Hagelin to the third line to get some speed going there. The fourth line to me is good because of Sheahan, I think having Simon there is fine, but I also want to see Jooris in the lineup. Really fast guy, can teach him to PK, and would elevate the speed on the fourth line a lot.

Down for that!! In my mind I would totally want Hagelin-Brassard-Kessel for the sole fact of the HBK 2.0 line, but I think Hagelin has shown a lot more of a consistent game due to Geno. I am sure once they settle down when they are more comfortably in a playoff spot that they can just start shuffling lines and all producing no matter what like the past two runs. Haven't seen Jooris play too much honestly! I always remember his name because it's so different, I am happy to welcome any WBS guys into the lineup.

Hunwick trade is about right, but sheary is a better player than ryan. Also, I'd prefer to not give up simon in a potential deal for grabner (maybe a guy like dea or blueger instead).

Much more realistic than some of the other trades I've seen. I like these trades. Losing sheary would be tough but that works. Rangers want at least a second or higher or maybe a couple of high picks. But they would rather have an actual player that can help them in the playoffs. Who knows what they'll do with grabner.

So I'll repeat the question in case I was misunderstood...
Why would the Winnipeg Jets and the New York Rangers need the Pittsburgh Penguins in this trade???
Why can't they just trade Micheal Grabner to Jets for the Jets 1st round pick??

Grabner isn't necessary and would take up a roster spot. and if you're trading Sheary, you could get someone better than Letestu in one deal (I know you traded/acquired them in separate deals.) If Sheahan truly is the third line center now, Letestu would be a nice pickup. I like the effort tho :applaud

I agree, but I think the Pens got an unreal bargain on Kessel because Toronto was trying to run him out of town. I would rather add the 1st rounder and keep Sprong though if possible. Pens need young guys ready to step into the lineup, not 2-4 years away because the window is open now. I'd prefer to do Sheary, 2018 1st and Gustavsson (or another 2nd tier prospect) while keeping ZAR and Sprong.

I think I would rather give up the assets for two years of Skinner than 1 year of Kane. Skinner fits the culture better IMO, whereas Kane has such a tendency to do really dumb s@*% that giving up a lot for him makes me very nervous.

its gota be close but u still have to beware of his concusion problems and that mite lower his cost too

Kapanen’s value has dropped off a lot by now. You expect a 1st from 2014 to be in the NHL by now.

It just sounded like that’s what ur saying, my apologies. But Hyman is pretty much untouchable, he plays with Matthews and Nylander giving them the time and space they need to create magic together by holding the puck until a 2nd or 3rd defender come in and then it’s in one of Matthews or Nylander’s hands to continue the magic
