<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PegLeg</b></div><div>Not sure I like any of this. I see TONS of Blues teams on ArmchairGM trying to get the boys back together..... but guess what? THE BOYS NEVER WON A CUP! THIS TEAM DID! Trading away all of our good young cheap players that are the glue of our CUP WINNING team to bring back older guys just for early 2010s nostalgia is dumb.

On to actual opinions:

PHI never does that deal. They have a future goalie in Carter Hart, and aren't gonna take on Allen's cap hit for free

NJ deal doesn't seem good enough. Schenn expires at the same time as Hall, so it still carries the same risk that he may leave for nothing. On top of that Schenn is worse, so it is less valuable in an all in "go for it" scenario. So the only value in return for an MVP is Edmundsson what will likely be a very low 1st. Not good enough.

VGK Deal: why? Fabbri and Sanford are both better than Reaves, and we can get them both combined for less than Reaves' deal. trading up from 2nds to 3rds isn't enough when we are losing core middle 6 players. We are a contending team, we value players higher than picks

Free agent signings:
RFAs: Why all of these 1 year deals? Then we have to deal with it again next season when we have less space and more important FAs to sign (Petro/Dunn)

UFAs: Elliot is WASHED. Let him go. I'd be ok with bringing back Maroon at that price, but i think some team might overpay him this summer.</div></div>

Philly wants a backup goalie. They do not need Hagg. Allen is a good goalie. Not great, but can do very well at splitting time, which as he's displayed throughout his career.

I'll admit the Blues may have to add a little more for Hall but NJ should view Schenn as trade asset at the deadline.

Fabbri and Sanford aren't middle six players at this point, aside from the last few games of the Stanley Cup for Sanford. Vegas could sweeten this deal a bit but I like Reeves because he was the NHL leader in hits. Binnington rarely gives up goals that aren't rebounds. It would be great to have Reeves clearing the front of the net. Which is why I want Hagg, who is also very high on the hit list.

As far as the 1 year deals, I was just trying to get the $ right. There's still money left over if they want to pay a higher AAV for longer term deals for Sunqvist or Barbashev.

As far as the backup goalie. Pick one, doesn't matter to me because Binnington is the MAN.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>suburbanrobot</b></div><div>I agree they are going to bring back basically the same team (which is a very good thing) but you've got a number of errors in here:

- Binnington ain't signing for 1/$3.0MM

- There is zero chance that Allen/Sanford fetch a 1st rounder, let alone a 1st rounder + a very serviceable young defenseman

- Edmundson at 1 year/$1.0 MM isn't even a valid contract -- his QO is $3.0MM, not to mention he's arbitration eligible and will get more like $4.0 through that process on a 1 year deal. Realistically he's either going to get a mid/long term contract or get his rights dealt to a team that will give him that.

- Sundqvist -- see notes on Edmundson above. Same thing applies.

- Blais, Sanford, Fabbri are all resigned in this scenario below their minimum qualifying offer.

- Maroon is a massive overpay -- maybe some team gives him $4.0MM, but that team ain't the Blues.</div></div>

I don't necessarily disagree with anything you say. I didn't spend a lot time looking at salaries but if you notice there still room in the budget for that which makes sense since there isn't any significant subtractions. Maroon will sign for close to that. Zack Smith of the Senators has the same numbers and same age and makes 3.25. Perhaps, Maroon gets 3 buy being sold on local endorsement deals he's likely to get. You're probably right about the Allen deal, maybe we can get a second; there seems to be a lot of teams that need a goalie.
