Rangers want Buchnevich back
Nope. Blues fan here. We are competing with the Stars who have great young players and more coming. The Avalanche, who have at least two Hall of Famers playing for them at the moment then the Blackhawks have Bedard and will build a dynasty around him. We have to find a diamond in the draft because they'll never be in-contention for the top pick. If the Blues don't change up the team they'll be playing for a wild card spot for the next decade.

Other than the month old report about Keller and his agent meeting with the Coyotes after they lost the arena vote, there's nothing to connect the two. That doesn't mean it can't happen but fans shouldn't always jump on a media person proposing their own suggestion or theory and mistaking it as something with traction. Friedman is always very careful in couching things he reports that came from what others told him vs. ideas that he and Marek kick around with no sourced basis.</div></div>
I can't even read your entire response. That's what he does. He throws stuff out there. Keller wants to know where he's going to be playing so he might ask for a trade. The Blues like to trade first round picks so that a natural fit because the Coyotes like draft picks. Its just for fun man.

The Blues need someone who hits so Bortuzzo can go to the minors. Pavelski just got 5.5. Stastny got 3.75, Palmeri got 5, and Hoffman got 4.5 last off season. Jeff Carter got more than 3. Perron is worth it.

I've read the Devils fans want an improvement on Blackwood. Binnington would do that, Graves for Scandella isn't equal so Bastian for a first makes up for it. If a 3rd is required then fine.

The Caps deal is a no-chancer. We're not dealing HUsso to sign Mrazek for 3x as much. No idea why we'd sign Sutter or Paquette.
I do like the Glendening idea, though.</div></div>
No idea why we'd sign Sutter or Paquette? Because they are physical. The Blues need to be more aggressive. Binnington needs a more players in front of him that hit the opposing team. Why wouldn't we want a better backup? Binnington didn't have a single shutout last season. That's really bad. Look at goalies that started as many game as he did, they all had multiple shutouts. What do you think is wrong with the Caps deal? I don't know how much they like Schultz so I could be way off but I'm assuming they want to get cap space.

Don't understand why were including anything if we are losing Faulk. Be better to just let them take whatever they want at that point</div></div>
No we don't need Neal, but look at Holloway's stats. That's what were getting for taking on Neal's contract. They could buy him out and sign someone with the savings. Acquiring a top prospect makes sense to me. With the history of Faulk and Francis this could be the best chance to move his contract. The reason you do that is for future seasons. How are you going to pay Thomas and Kyrou if they develop into stars? Maybe they let Paryko walk but I'd rather keep him but he's going to need a raise.

We need Dillon. He is a heavy hitter. Maybe the draft picks aren't needed but did anyone see what Tampa gave up for Savard? A 1st, 3rd and 4th for a few months of play.
Same for the Arizona trade. We need players who hit. Does anyone pay attention to this team the last two years? We're going to be playing against MacKinnon, Ratanen, Kaprizov, Scheifele for years. If the Blues can't match their rivals with skill the can beat them with grit.

I completely agree with your Tkachuk idea. The Blues should 100% do that. Bozak has a no trade so I doubt he's traded though. I'd trade Schenn instead.

Lets Go Blues
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PegLeg</b></div><div>Not sure I like any of this. I see TONS of Blues teams on ArmchairGM trying to get the boys back together..... but guess what? THE BOYS NEVER WON A CUP! THIS TEAM DID! Trading away all of our good young cheap players that are the glue of our CUP WINNING team to bring back older guys just for early 2010s nostalgia is dumb.
On to actual opinions:
PHI never does that deal. They have a future goalie in Carter Hart, and aren't gonna take on Allen's cap hit for free
NJ deal doesn't seem good enough. Schenn expires at the same time as Hall, so it still carries the same risk that he may leave for nothing. On top of that Schenn is worse, so it is less valuable in an all in "go for it" scenario. So the only value in return for an MVP is Edmundsson what will likely be a very low 1st. Not good enough.
VGK Deal: why? Fabbri and Sanford are both better than Reaves, and we can get them both combined for less than Reaves' deal. trading up from 2nds to 3rds isn't enough when we are losing core middle 6 players. We are a contending team, we value players higher than picks
Free agent signings:
RFAs: Why all of these 1 year deals? Then we have to deal with it again next season when we have less space and more important FAs to sign (Petro/Dunn)
UFAs: Elliot is WASHED. Let him go. I'd be ok with bringing back Maroon at that price, but i think some team might overpay him this summer.</div></div>
Philly wants a backup goalie. They do not need Hagg. Allen is a good goalie. Not great, but can do very well at splitting time, which as he's displayed throughout his career.
I'll admit the Blues may have to add a little more for Hall but NJ should view Schenn as trade asset at the deadline.
Fabbri and Sanford aren't middle six players at this point, aside from the last few games of the Stanley Cup for Sanford. Vegas could sweeten this deal a bit but I like Reeves because he was the NHL leader in hits. Binnington rarely gives up goals that aren't rebounds. It would be great to have Reeves clearing the front of the net. Which is why I want Hagg, who is also very high on the hit list.
As far as the 1 year deals, I was just trying to get the $ right. There's still money left over if they want to pay a higher AAV for longer term deals for Sunqvist or Barbashev.
As far as the backup goalie. Pick one, doesn't matter to me because Binnington is the MAN.

Well if you look at Pro Hockey Rumors, the Flyers are considering trading their first for someone with multiple years of control. Allen is that and in this deal they get back a second so it's not that far fetched.

LGB For Life
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>suburbanrobot</b></div><div>I agree they are going to bring back basically the same team (which is a very good thing) but you've got a number of errors in here:
- Binnington ain't signing for 1/$3.0MM
- There is zero chance that Allen/Sanford fetch a 1st rounder, let alone a 1st rounder + a very serviceable young defenseman
- Edmundson at 1 year/$1.0 MM isn't even a valid contract -- his QO is $3.0MM, not to mention he's arbitration eligible and will get more like $4.0 through that process on a 1 year deal. Realistically he's either going to get a mid/long term contract or get his rights dealt to a team that will give him that.
- Sundqvist -- see notes on Edmundson above. Same thing applies.
- Blais, Sanford, Fabbri are all resigned in this scenario below their minimum qualifying offer.
- Maroon is a massive overpay -- maybe some team gives him $4.0MM, but that team ain't the Blues.</div></div>
I don't necessarily disagree with anything you say. I didn't spend a lot time looking at salaries but if you notice there still room in the budget for that which makes sense since there isn't any significant subtractions. Maroon will sign for close to that. Zack Smith of the Senators has the same numbers and same age and makes 3.25. Perhaps, Maroon gets 3 buy being sold on local endorsement deals he's likely to get. You're probably right about the Allen deal, maybe we can get a second; there seems to be a lot of teams that need a goalie.
