Sorry that you disapprove, but I feel strongly that the Blues defense is a horrible mess and until it's addressed they won't be competitive. Ref. the NYR trade - I want K'Andre Miller. What's it take both in terms of assets and then making it cap compliant for the Rangers? The AZ trade - what don't you like?

Really? You think Kyrou is "core" material? Berube and Ott have had him for four years now and his game hasn't evolved. Now that he's guaranteed $65M+ do you think he's eminently more coachable?
Kyrou is no Brett Hull, but much like Hull he will generate highlight film for the next 11 years, play terrible defense, be a pain in the ass for his teammates to play with, and win you nothing. Like Hull, he will make a nice ancillary piece to an already competitive team that has strong leadership.

Would NYR be interested in Mikkola, Krug, or Leddy?

The Isles' weak PP might be all that keeps them out of the playoffs and I'm looking for any team with cap space to take him. Plus, he might waive his NTC for a NE team.

Reversing the galaxy brain decisions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>STLBlues17</b></div><div>Saad has been generally okay defensively (last year a big aberration) but Schwartz was so dominant. Tracking back lower than most wingers, forcing turnovers, skating pucks up ice, and then even making things hard on D with his forechecking.
Yeah perhaps things change. My guess would be Seattle takes Husso or Mikkola or Sanford (I think most people thought Vladdy was washed in summer 21 and Seattle’s analytics people likely wouldn’t touch Barbashev) but there’s no way to tell. A lot of bodies broke down after the cup too and perhaps Armstrong thought pre-back-injury Parayko would be a $9 million D rather than a $6.5 D and that’s why he felt the need to prepare differently. Idk, the point is that almost everything else that Armstrong could have done would be better than this product and it’s so frustrating watching all these beloved STL players finding success elsewhere when they feasibly all could still be here.</div></div>
I love the original post and I appreciate the intelligent observations the others have made. The Blues should not be in this predicament, but the Cup team has been gutted. Not a single All-Star on that roster, but they competed and they played for each other. Not really sure what the Blues can do now except rebuild. It was really, really fun while it lasted. So much wasted, unappreciated talent.

About that first round draft pick, you make a valid point. My bad. On the other hand, Bill Armstrong won’t get a better offer for Chychrun than Kyrou and some baggage. And, let’s face it, neither of these teams is going to go anywhere in the playoffs for the next few years and AZ has the cap space to carry Krug. Both teams look better long-term under this scenario. I’ll edit out the draft pick.

Krug isn't waiving for Arizona, plus Doug Armstrong isn't dealing Jordan Kyrou after just giving him an 8 year extension.</div></div>
I’m not sure the Krug wouldn’t go to Arizona. Also, Kyrou has demonstrated that he either will not or cannot play the game the way Berube and Ott would like him to. Combine that with his contract and what appears to be the frustration of his teammates with him, I think Armstrong has to admit his mistakes and move him.

Perron. He may not have much left in the tank, but ROR has been a shell of himself without him. I'd bring DP back for another couple of years. Armstrong was foolish to let him walk without an offer in the first place. If you do not bring him back, you might as well move O'Reilly at the TDL. The sun has set on this rodeo.

Kyrou is incredibly talented, but his style of play and the Berube/Ott style have collided and it has been detrimental to the team. He's demonstrated that he isn't going to change, might as well move him for assets.

I agree, the Caps probably don’t like this trade much, but they’re in cap hell, Ordovician is over 30 and in the last year of his contract, they may accept.
