I don't get you sometimes, man. You know the Blues aren't going to help the Avs win, and you know the Avs aren't going to pay that. Meanwhile, Landy is skating already, so they can;t afford all this.

Hawks aren't going to agree to that IMO. Taking on Girard who's got a $5M cap hit for another 4 seasons after this and 28 years old at that time and a 2025 2nd round pick while giving up a good prospect in Ian Mitchell plus Toews at 50% doesn't fit our rebuild timeline and we give up a prospect who factors into our rebuild.

This is a deadly team when healthy... I'd be terrified

Landeskog - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Nichushkin - O'Reilly - Lehkonen
Newhook - JToews - Rodrigues
Cogliano - Compher - Helm
(O'Connor, Kaut)

DToews - Makar
Byram - Manson
JJohnson - EJohnson
(MacDermid)

and this is a lineup that's missing:

Galchenyuk
Meyers
Hunt
MacDonald
Mitchell
and probably some others I'm missing

I don't know if what I saw would count as skating but, you are right.

Yeah. You're probably right. I also doubt COL is interested in moving Girard at the TDL, maybe over the summer if/when there isn't a significant cap increase. At the same time, I have a feeling Davidson would like to trade Jones at some point if/when possible. The best way to do that and increase his value, IMO, would be to get him a legit top pairing LHD partner that isn't just dragging him down and/or doesn't play a compatible style. I think Girard could do that. He definitely has the value to make this trade reasonable. Then again, CHI could just go after Graves or Gavrikov or whoever over the summer, or maybe they just plan on keeping Jones around and hoping one of our LHD prospects hits it off with him at some point. But I can already see the frustration on Jones face every night. I have a feeling he might be asking about a trade at some point.

I don't see the Avs moving consecutive firsts but I also don't see the blues trading ROR to the Avs unless it's a last resort

Who say the blues won’t help the Avs win also they are paying a large premium for ROR
Your logic is kinda backwards

COL isn’t trading Girard for that package that’s a whole lot of nothing after this year. Mitchell can’t even be called an NHL player. And why in the world would COL be adding a draft pick?

I remeber seeing this look on Darcy Tucker's face a lot...

Mitchell is a prospect and a good one at that, he's going to be a solid 2nd liner. That said, it's also the reason Chicago shouldn't do this trade as Girard doesn't fit the rebuild process as well as Mitchell...this is not a good fit for either team.

But they're not going to pay this. And I think the Blues have watched enough former stars win the Cup with a division rival to last 10 lifetimes. Or honestly, just enough hated rivals winning it period. They are not helping the Avs win again. I can't believe I'd need to explain why.

I get what you're saying and I hate Kroenke as much as anyone, but two 1st round picks, especially this year, would be tempting. But, nope, Avs would never do it.
