New York Islanders signed Mathew Barzal (3 Years / $7,000,000 AAV)
Good deal for both. Barzy has to be happy with $7 mil before he even get his big pay day, Isles are happy to still have him as an RFA. I do have a feeling the Isles might regret not being able to lock him up longterm at the end of this deal. They will be looking at a 7x11 and they still have a lot of guys on the books in 3 years and other players they need to sign.

That is what I figured, especially with Suzuki and Kot down the middle and Denault a year away from UFA. I thought that might be a good fit for TDA and Lias to start over.

Hey if Lias and a 3rd gets it done, sign me up. I think thats a type of player we need.

I've seen some say Monahan for Buch, I think that's very much lopsided the other way. Other C's I would look at are Wennberg, Haula, Cirelli (obvs long shot)

Totally fair, but Bennett is a 2 way Center who would immediately make us better defensively and is a historically good playoff performer. On a cheap deal I could see JD being interested in him and Chytil and Bennett being the middle 6 C.
Smith/Fast I agree with, reason I signed both is they both can move up and down the lineup relatively easily. I don't think Kravtsov is NHL ready yet, probably a year away still, the Fast/Smith deals allow them to be exposed to the draft or relatively easy deals to move if Kravtsov comes up and becomes a mainstay.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Philu916</b></div><div>Here’s the thing, Bennet is having a nice playoff but is this him maturing and getting better in the league, or is this due to long layoffs with the whole league? It’s kind of hard to throw a 12 pt player in 54 games to a 2C role the following season. Absolutely nothing against a Craig Smith signing, but having both Smith and Fast totally buries Kravtsov. Can’t do that. Even if Kravtsov plays 3/4 line he needs to play this season. I think it’s either Smith or Fast and let Kravtsov be the other RW. I do assume the idea is that Seattle would take one of those 2 in expansion draft but he needs to develop here not Hartford at least not a full season there. Part of why he went back to Russia. Can’t have that again as he’d never come back at that point.</div></div>

Could see it going either way. Reason I added to the Rangers side is Hanifin's contract is very reasonable for 4 more years.

New York Rangers signed Chris Kreider (7 Years / $6,500,000 AAV)
Term is the only issue, 5 years would have been ideal, thought they'd settle on 6, but ended up 7.
The Rangers have the prospects, they have the assets, but they don't have the experience and veteran leadership championship teams have to have. Locking up Kreids means this team chose the direction they want to go and I agree with it. Selling off this deadline would push the window back another 2-3 years, with a few minor tweaks this offseason and adding some veteran depth, this team could make the playoffs next year.
Also, in 1 year like 25 mill is coming off the books for the Rangers. This is a move knowing full well they only have 1 more year until they can make major moves and capitalize on prime Kreider,Panarin,Zibanejad.

It's fine, a slight over payment in term and $, 5 yr $5.5 AAV was what I was kind of expecting so not too far off. Brock has never been a hometown discount type of guy.
I don't buy the people saying it's a great deal because he would have gotten 7 mil plus on the open market though.

I appreciate your response, I find it highly unlikely as well. To me, the Canes should be going for it this season instead of selling/standing pat. That d group is unreal and need to capitalize on a weak eastern conference. With Hayes and Zuc in the top 6 and 1st round matchup with the Isles, I could see them making it a great series.

Hayes rumored to be signing a 1 year deal and become a UFA, this way they at least get a crack at a bigger UFA at a position they lack. Would still go after Panarin as well.

NY gets 2 awful contracts and gives up a good bottom 6 player and a 2nd round pick....? That makes less than 0 sense. NYR would need picks and prospects to take on one let alone both of those deals.

Beau is right on par. As for the trade - taking on Bobby Ryan's contract allows for these pieces to be fair. Ottawa also will have no problem taking on Clutterbuck's contract in exchange for getting rid of Ryan's. They will also have to get to the floor...</div></div>

Well the $$ for de Haan is for 1 year, with multiple teams bidding on him, he will get 3+ over 3-4 years.
AB is a RFA after next year, he will get way more than 1.3, especially if he builds off his 21 goal season.

You'd have to put in better prospects to get OTT to accept, no one is going to want Clutterbuck on his deal.
De Haan's $$ is way too low, as is Beauvillier.

Could be, the NHL trade market honestly makes little sense so I could see it as little as a 2nd or a 2nd +. But he's 26 and a 40+ point player, and was a much higher rate when he got top 6 mins with the NYR.
