Now let's imagine that Team Canada had Power, Guhle, Korchinski, and Mateychuk instead of O'Rourke, Thompson, Del Mastro, and Sebrango........

That was bloody insane, I went from losing my mind when McTavish somehow whacked it out of the way to losing my mind even more when Kent scored....

Predictions from a rando on the top 16 - heres my take on these players. FEEL FREE TO DICUSS NOT HARD STUCK ON ANYTHING!
(USING BOBBY MARGARITA'S RANKS)
1 Juraj Slafkovsky TPS (SM Liiga Jr.) - Who I would select first overall. Slap in the AHL and let him cook.
2nd Line PWF, think he'll achieve that. Chance for best in class imo.
2 Shane Wright Kingston (OHL) - think he'll be a bonafide 2C, like a Cirelli (just a guy you need in your top6 to win).
2C 200ft player, I think he should also not be rushed into the NHL.
3 Logan Cooley USA U-18 (USHL) - don't got much on Cooley, just hasn't stood out to me
middle 6 player for sure though I'd say.
4 Simon Nemec Nitra (SVK) - Could go 1st tbh.
Think he or Jiri will be a top pairing D, Chance for best in class.
5 Cutter Gauthier USA U-18 (USHL) - really like Cutter, Bob has him quite high, I'd like him in teal
3C with 2C upside, def think he could become the best "power center" of the class
6 David Jiricek Plzen (CZE) - see what I said on Nemec
Chance for best in class.
7 Joakim Kemell JYP (SM Liiga) - I think he'll go 7th and thats great for OTT
Chance for best in class. Guy is a lethal threat.
8 Jonathan Lakkerimaki Djurgardens (SWE J-20) - youre happy selecting Lekki 8+
Legitimate chance at being a 30g+ scorer
9 Matt Savoie Winnipeg (WHL) - high end potential, I mean real high
Savoie down here is a steal. Hindsight does not matter - this is a great pick even if it doesnt pan out
10 Marco Kasper Rögle (SHL) - Him and Cutter have flown up the ranks, I like him at 10
middle 6 C with a good probability of making it
11 Kevin Korchinski Seattle (WHL) - for the love of god I do not want him as a SJS selection
Probably a top4D tho if he lands right and develops on his flaws
12 Pavel Mintyukov Saginaw (OHL) - see above
13 Conor Geekie Winnipeg (WHL) - I guess your very happy with Geekie here but I think hes a bottom 6C with upside
Has potential to be a top 6 C, cant go wrong
14 Danila Yurov Magnitogorsk (KHL) - Big fan, would consider at 11 if Lekki, Kemell, Kasper, Cutter are gone
I think he will hit, top 6 winger with 1st line potential as he's got it all at 200ft, Chance for best in class.
15 Frank Nazar USA U-18 (USHL) - Big fan, would consider at 11 if Lekki, Kemell, Kasper, Cutter are gone
Add some size (similar to Eklunds case in 2021) and I think he'll devleop nicely. Top6 potential, cant go wrong with him past 10
16 Brad Lambert JYP (SM Liiga)- Big fan, would consider at 11 if Lekki, Kemell, Kasper, Cutter are gone
Huge wildcard but he's got potential. I see him being similar to Raty or JP. Probably high end middle 6 player but has best in class potential..</div></div>
holy smokes this was accurate as hell

Johnson - Stankoven - Foerster was an unstoppable force. Stankoven and Johnson are just everywhere, and Foerster finds the right places. They'll score at least 2 tonight.
Bedard has become a tad unimpressive to me. First and foremost, he does not like to pass the puck. Like, at all. As soon as he gets the puck on the opposing side of the red line, his only thought is "I'm gonna score". Even on the PP, the only time he passed was when he then opened up for a one timer. TBH, I'm starting to like Brayden Yager more and more, and although Bedard is just so dynamic, Yager passes the puck smartly. Idk man, with Bedard doing this crap and Michkov being locked up in the KHL, I'm becoming less excited for next year's "super" draft.
Zellweger and Cormier are our best defenceman and it's by a margin so wide ur momma could fit inside. Seeley and Thompson are the next two, they're solid puck movers. It goes downhill from there. I thought Canada was supposed to be incredibly deep? I get that we're missing Power and Guhle, but cmon.

The only name I recognize here is Demin, because he was traded from Vegas to Chicago in the Lehner deal. Anybody know anything about any of these guys? Kinda doubtful any of them are relevant tbh</div></div>
A lot of guys haven't been relevant in a few years. I know a few for some reason
Demin I knew as well for the same reason as you. Never put up big points or made a huge impact so fell off my radar
Tyler Weiss played for the NTDP if I remember correctly, just never made the connection in college.
I saw Josh Ess in a NCAA roster a few years back, but anyone playing in the Ligue Magnus is :grimace
Ben Mirageas used to be pretty highly touted (hence the 3rd round selection), he was up for the WJC team a year or two ago, but like Weiss never flourished in college I guess
I heard rumours that Sammy Walker signed with Tampa, idk what's happening there but he's been in The Hockey News' top Bolts prospects for a while
Brandon Kruse was in the same boat as Jack Dugan, pretty obscure pick (NAHL) but eventually put up big numbers in college. It says be played for Henderson last season for 3 games, dunno if that means anything. Hopefully Vegas gives him a chance.
As a Habs fan I was excited for Stapley for a while until I realized we weren't gonna sign him, he's putting up numbers in college now, I hope we do end up giving him a shot.

I thought Knak was too old by this point, I guess since guys who played in the PP'ed one are allowed to play now he can. Huge W for Switzerland there, they have a chance to beat Germany now

A few guys that are missing I wanted to ask you about, since you seem quite knowledgeable about this draft; Emil Jarventie, Tom Willander, Edvin Nilsson, Gabe Perreault, and Tanner Molendyk. Jarventie, Perreault, and Willander are the only guys there I see going in the first round, but still.

Craig Button is on smoke; there's no way USA isn't getting a medal. Like, I watched Czechia and Slovakia this aft (not Finland unfortunately cuz I had hockey) and this is just so much faster. It's legit some of the best hockey I've seen in a long time, just the pace and the skill. Did I mention the pace? Those guys were FLYING around the ice, the Germans couldn't have possession for 2 seconds without an American up in their face! It's the most fun hockey to watch in maybe my whole life.
Thomas Bordeleau and Matt Coronato are unbelievable. The whole team is just amazing, but those two are just incredible. So skilled and they can execute at such speeds. I love this team so much, I don't know how Canada's gonna do against em :grimace

Prospect Discussion Thread #3
For my third post in a row, because they're all about slightly different things, here's who impressed me in the finals of the U18s (I was at a friends cottage for the whole tournament except the finals, it was heart-wrenching)
Cameron Allen was very good. Good decisions with the puck, smooth skater, not afraid to rush it and he's good at it. He was the captain and he shaved his head (this last fact was critical to my analysis). Also was PP quarterback and made some nice plays.
Ethan Gauthier can score, holy smokes. He is going to score 50 goals in the Q next season. He has a rocket of a shot. And I've seen clips of Quentin Musty too....he might do 40 in the O just because of better competition.
I really like Denver Barkey, he might be my favourite undersized player for this class. He's like a pinball, he just runs around with or without the puck and makes plays. Not afraid of contact, either.
Mathieu Cataford had stretches where he looked just like Brendan Gallagher, just not as big, which is his issue IMO if he's gonna stand in front of the net on the PP. I didn't really notice him when he wasn't there however.
Tanner Molendyk also had stretches of greatness, a lot of the stuff I like in guys like Q Hughes, Casey, Hutson. But he was a little reckless with the puck and made some questionable plays, he might be a dark horse if he irons those out.
Dylan MacKinnon made some solid passes, but ultimately didn't get any important ice time so I didn't see him very much.
Yager, Ritchie, Wood, Benson were all great. I knew they were great though so I tried to watch other guys. Yager has a cannon of a shot and Ritchie is a playmaker extraordinaire.
For Sweden, Tom Willander and Edvin Nilsson kept making sweet play after sweet play on the back end, looking to the middle of the ice, doing smart rushes, and making plays. I don't know much else about them but they both looked quite good and I'll keep tabs.
Theo Lindstein was the best player on Sweden, not Stenberg IMO. I didn't really notice Stenberg as much as I would've liked when he wasn't scoring, but he did score. Lindstein was so smooth, sometimes got himself into tough spots like turning into pressure but got out of it with good hands and excellent vision.

I really don’t think I’m overstating this, every team with a 1st round pick in 2023 is going to get a really special player. It’s that deep</div></div>

Allen looks like he could be a top 4 defenceman in the NHL in the next few years. He's the captain too, which always means something on these teams.
